Applications of Two-Body Dirac Equations to the Meson Spectrum with Three versus Two Covariant Interactions, SU(3) Mixing, and Comparison to a Quasipotential Approach
In a previous paper Crater and Van Alstine applied the Two Body Dirac
equations of constraint dynamics to the meson quark-antiquark bound states
using a relativistic extention of the Adler-Piran potential and compared their
spectral results to those from other approaches, ones which also considered
meson spectroscopy as a whole and not in parts. In this paper we explore in
more detail the differences and similarities in an important subset of those
approaches, the quasipotential approach. In the earlier paper, the
transformation properties of the quark-antiquark potentials were limited to a
scalar and an electromagnetic-like four vector, with the former accounting for
the confining aspects of the overall potential, and the latter the short range
portion. A part of that work consisted of developing a way in which the static
Adler-Piran potential was apportioned between those two different types of
potentials in addition to covariantization. Here we make a change in this
apportionment that leads to a substantial improvement in the resultant
spectroscopy by including a time-like confining vector potential over and above
the scalar confining one and the electromagnetic-like vector potential. Our fit
includes 19 more mesons than the earlier results and we modify the scalar
portion of the potential in such a way that allows this formalism to account
for the isoscalar mesons {\eta} and {\eta}' not included in the previous work.
Continuing the comparisons made in the previous paper with other approaches to
meson spectroscopy we examine in this paper the quasipotential approach of
Ebert, Faustov, and Galkin for a comparison with our formalism and spectral

Short and long term treatment of asthma with intravenous nutrients
BACKGROUND: Asthma is an increasing problem in this country and others. Although medications for the treatment of asthma abound and are improving, there are inherent risks and side effects with all of them. Intravenous magnesium has been employed in the treatment of acute asthma, but its use has not become universal, nor has it been studied for the treatment of chronic asthma. It is known to be a safe drug with minimal side effects. In this study, the author investigates the use of magnesium and other nutrients in the treatment of both acute and chronic asthma. METHODS: In this non-blinded outcome study, following informed consent, forty-three (43) randomly selected volunteer patients with both acute and chronic asthma were treated with IV infusions described herein. All patients were observed with spirometry 10 minutes post-infusion; two sub-groups of patients were also observed after multiple infusions over a short period of time (less than one month) and a longer period of time (average 5.8 months). Pulmonary function was analyzed by spirometric testing with pre- and post-infusion spirometric measurements with the pre/post group. For longer term (Trend) patients, baseline spirometry measurements were compared to spirometry measurements after patients had received multiple infusions over a period of time. Eight (8) patients were measured for both pre/post and Trend data. RESULTS: The 38 pre-infusion/post-infusion patients with acute and chronic asthma demonstrated an overall average improvement (percentage improvement in percent predicted) of 45%. The 13 patients measured for improvement over time (Trend data, average duration 5.82 months), demonstrated an overall average improvement (percentage improvement in percent predicted) of 57%. Of the 13 patients in the multiple infusion group, 9 patients who received longer-term therapy (average duration of 12.58 months) for chronic asthma demonstrated an overall average improvement of 95% (percentage improvement in percent predicted). CONCLUSION: The use of intravenous treatment with multiple nutrients, including magnesium, for acute and chronic asthma may be of considerable benefit. Das Projekt ExTrass hatte zwei Ziele: Das erste Ziel war es, Klimaresilienz in den drei Fallstudienstädten Potsdam, Remscheid und Würzburg messbar zu stärken. Das zweite Ziel war es, Transferpotenziale zwischen Groß- und Mittelstädten in Deutschland zu identifizieren und besser nutzbar zu machen, sodass die Wirkung von Pilotvorhaben über die direkt involvierten Städte hinausgehen kann. Dies sollte in enger Zusammenarbeit mit den Stadtverwaltungen sowie zivilgesellschaftlichen Akteur:innen des Katastrophenschutzes erfolgen.
Dabei standen folgende Leitfragen im Fokus:
• Wie verbreitet sind Klimaanpassungsaktivitäten in Großstädten und größeren kreisfreien Mittelstädten in Deutschland?
• Welche hemmenden und begünstigenden Faktoren beeinflussen die Klimaanpassung?
• Welche Maßnahmen der Klimaanpassung werden tatsächlich umgesetzt, und wie kann die Umsetzung verbessert werden? Was behindert?
• Inwiefern lassen sich Beispiele guter Praxis auf andere Städte übertragen, adaptieren oder weiterentwickeln

Comprehensive characterization of two different Nicotiana tabacum cell lines leads to doubled GFP and HA protein production by media optimization
For over two decades, plant cell cultures have been a promising research platform to express recombinant and therapeutic proteins such as hormones, growth factors, full-size antibodies and antigens. Chosen as a good host for manufacturing recombinant proteins, the Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. Bright Yellow 2 (BY-2) cell line has been studied in shake flasks by offline analysis of only a few growth parameters. The objective of this study is to comprehensively characterize the growth of a transgenic BY-2 cell line and to investigate the expression profile of the model protein GFP. Based on the correlations between nutrient consumption, cell growth and product formation, the intention is to improve the standard MS-medium. Hereby, multiple growth parameters were analyzed offline and online by using a Respiration Activity monitoring system (RAMOS). A reproducibly observed shift of the oxygen transfer rate (OTR) could be identified to indicate ammonium depletion in the medium. Co ncurrent with this ammonium depletion, the total protein concentration began to decrease. After the MS-medium was improved, the GFP concentration nearly doubled. When this improved ammonium enriched medium was applied to another transgenic tobacco cell line similar improvements to the amount of the glycoprotein influenza hemagglutinin (HA) produced by Nicotiana tabacum NT-1 cells could be achieved. Ultimately, this combined offline and online analysis can be successfully used for further cell line characterization and media optimization to improve growth and boost target product formation
