    Suggestions for Safe Motorchair Football.

    本研究は電動車椅子サッカーの岡山県における活動状況を把握し,このスポーツを安全に行う方法について検討することを目的とした。対象は脊髄損傷(A群),脳性麻痺(B群),筋ジストロフイー(C群)の選手各々4名, 5名および4名の計13名で,平成13年8月24日から平成13年12月23日までに行なわれた計8日の練習および試合をビデオカメラを用いて撮影し分析した。平成13年12月14日までの練習状況から電動車椅子同士の衝突により生じるスピン,身体接触,電動車椅子の浮揚の危険な衝突に着目し,平成13年12月23日に行なわれた3試合,計120分のなかで危険な衝突に関して分析を行った。その結果, A群では 危険な衝突が19回, BおよびC群でも計19回みられた。それらの内,衝突後の防御姿勢の有無に関してA群は認められた回数が17回,認められなかった回数が2回であった。B群およびC群では,認められた回数がl回,認められなかった回数が18回であった。A群とB・C群間での防御姿勢の有無に関する差異は有意(x2検定, p < 0.01) であった。以上より障害種別によるクラス分けの必要性が明らかになった。さらにヘルメットやプロテクターの着用の重要性に関しての指摘も行い,指導員の養成の必要性についても考察した

    Assessment of the brain function by evoked potentials: analysis of the late components of visual evoked potentials recorded from the vertex

    Visual evoked potentials recorded from the vertex were studied in seventy four individuals with mental retardation,ranging from l old to 50 years old. They were classified into 4 groups according to the level of IQ/DQ,and the relation between the late components and the intellectual level was exarnined. In 9 of 74 cases(12.2%),la tency of the N130 component was prolonged and in 7 of 74 cases (9.6%),the P190 component was prolonged. There was,however,no correlation between the number of the cases with prolonged N130 or P190 latency and the level of IQ/DQ. Cases with prolongation in N130 and/or Pl90 were almost exclusively found among those with such complications as cerebral palsy and/or epilepsy,while few cases without complications showed prolongation. From these results,it is suggested that the prolongation in the late components developes reflecting the presence of the organic lesions that have a common causative potent producing cerebral palsy and/or epilepsy

    Co-appearance of superconductivity and ferromagnetism in a Ca2_2RuO4_4 nanofilm crystal

    By tuning the physical and chemical pressures of layered perovskite materials we can realize the quantum states of both superconductors and insulators. By reducing the thickness of a layered crystal to a nanometer level, a nanofilm crystal can provide novel quantum states that have not previously been found in bulk crystals. Here we report the realization of high-temperature superconductivity in Ca2_2RuO4_4 nanofilm single crystals. Ca2_2RuO4_4 thin film with the highest transition temperature TcT_c (midpoint) of 64~K exhibits zero resistance in electric transport measurements. The superconducting critical current exhibited a logarithmic dependence on temperature and was enhanced by an external magnetic field. Magnetic measurements revealed a ferromagnetic transition at 180~K and diamagnetic magnetization due to superconductivity. Our results suggest the co-appearance of superconductivity and ferromagnetism in Ca2_2RuO4_4 nanofilm crystals. We also found that the induced bias current and the tuned film thickness caused a superconductor-insulator transition.     A Review : Continuous Performance Test as an Assessment for Attention

    Continuous Performance Test (CPT) は、注意機能び測定に用いられる神経心理学的検査として知られている。測定条件や評価指標は多様であるため、現在までに報告されている研究成果の解釈は容易ではない。そこで、CPTの主な特徴を概観し、成績に影響を及ぼす要因について既報の文献に基づいて検討した。CPTは課題の種類によりX, A-X, not-X タイプに分類され、いずれのタイプにおいても刺激呈示間隔や刺激呈示確率などが異なり、測定条件の違いによる評価指標への影響が認められた。しかし、刺激の性質や所要時間などの条件についての影響は未だ十分には検討されていない。そこで、本報の臨機応用にはこれらの条件の違いによる影響を考慮した条件設定が必要と思われた

    Interstitial lung disease in gefitinib-treated Japanese patients with non-small cell lung cancer – a retrospective analysis: JMTO LC03-02

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>In Japan, high incidences of interstitial lung disease (ILD) and ILD-related deaths have been reported among gefitinib-treated patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We investigated the efficacy of gefitinib, the incidence of ILD and risk factors for ILD in these patients.</p> <p>Findings</p> <p>We obtained patient data retrospectively using questionnaires sent to 22 institutions. We asked for demographic and clinical data on NSCLC patients for whom gefitinib treatment had begun between July 2002 and February 2003. Data from a total of 526 patients were analyzed. The patient characteristics were as follows: 64% male, 69% with adenocarcinoma, 61% with a performance score of 0–1, and 5% with concurrent interstitial pneumonitis. The objective response proportion was 80/439 (18.2%; 95% CI: 14.7–22.0). ILD developed in 17 patients (3.2%; 95% CI 1.9–5.1%), of whom 7 died. According to multivariate analysis, female sex, history of prior chemotherapy, low absolute neutrophil count before gefitinib treatment, and adenocarcinoma histology were associated with response to gefitinib treatment. None of the factors we evaluated were associated with the development of ILD.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The results of this study are consistent with previously published values for treatment response proportions and incidence of ILD during gefitinib treatment in Japanese patients. Future studies should be aimed at identifying factors indicating that a patient has a high probability of receiving benefit from gefitinib and a low risk of developing ILD.</p

    健常児・者におけるVictoria版Stroop Testの年齢による変化の検討

    Victoria版Stroop Testにおける課題達成所要時間の年齢による変化について検討し、併せて各年齢群別標準値を得ることを目的とした。5歳1ヶ月から49歳0ヶ月の健常児・者193名を対象に、黒色で印刷された文字の色を読む(Word Reading:WR)課題、丸型カラーバッチの色名を言う(Color Naming:CN)課題、文字と印刷された色が異なる(Incongruent Color Naming:ICN)課題を行い、ICN課題達成所要時間に対するCN課題達成所要時間の差(以下ICN-CN)と比(以下ICN/CN)について年齢を説明変数とする単回帰分析を行った。その結果、全てにおいて年齢による有意な変化が見られ、成績が最良となる年齢は、WR課題において29.7歳、CN課題において29.0歳、ICN課題において30.2歳、ICN-CNにおいて31.0歳、ICN/CNにおいて34.5歳であることが明らかになった。また、各課題達成所要時間の差異についての一要因の分散分析を行った結果、有意差(F(2,576)=179.312,p<.001)が認められた。多重比較(Turkey HSD)の結果、各課題間に有意差(WR課題とCN課題:p<.01、WR課題とICN課題:p<.001、CN課題とICN課題:p<.001)が認められ、WR課題、CN課題、ICN課題の順に有意な遅延を示した

    Molecular cloning of a novel putative G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR21) which is expressed predominantly in mouse central nervous system

    AbstractA novel cDNA clone encoding a putative G protein-coupled receptor (named GPCR21) was isolated from a mouse brain cDNA library along with its homologue, GPCR01 (the mouse counterpart of previously reported rat receptor R334 [(1991) FEBS Lett. 292, 243-248]) by the polymerase chain reaction using degenerate oligonucleotide primers. Northern blotting and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction analyses showed predominant expression of these two receptors in the central nervous system. In situ hybridization analysis revealed their prominent expression in the limbic system and further demonstrated the differential distribution of their mRNAs in mouse brain. Although the ligands for these receptors are yet to be identified, the significant sequence homology between these receptors suggests that they constitute a new receptor subfamily and they possibly represent different receptor subtypes for an unknown neurotransmitter

    The Stroop effect for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Pervasive Developmental Disorder

    注意欠陥/多動性障害(Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder ; AD/HD)および広汎性発達障害(Pervasive Developmental Disorder ; PDD)における干渉効果を検討することを目的とし、AD/HD群21名、PDD群23名、対照群101名を対象にストループテストを行い、Word Reading (WR)課題、Color Naming (CN)課題、Incongruent Color Naming (ICN)課題について評価した。対照群から得られた成績に95%の信頼区間を設け、AD/HD群およびPDD群の成績と比較した結果、AD/HD群においては大多数の症例が信頼区間の範囲内の成績を示した。一方、PDD群ではICN課題において23例中2例、ICN-CNにおいて23例中4例、ICN/CNにおいて23例中4例が95%信頼区間外の成績を示した。To clarify the interference effect in attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD) and pervasive developmental disorder (PDD), the Stroop test was performed with 21 children with AD/HD, 23 children with PDD and 101 normal subjects. Word reading, color naming (CN) and incongruent color naming (ICN) were measured, then, such indices as ICN-CN and ICN/CN as well as ICN scores were evaluated. Results obtained from children with AD/HD and PDD were compared with those from normal subjects applying the confidence interval of 95%. Most of the children with AD/HD were plotted within the range of 95% confidence interval. As for the PDD, 2 of 23 in ICN, 4 of 23 in ICN-CN and ICN/CN were plotted out of the 95% confidence interval. Further work on the characterization of the phenotype of PDD plotted out of the 95% confidence interval may aid in extending the clinical application of this test
