    The Effect of Energy Dissipation Systems on the Four- Story Steel Structure by Comparing Them

    The present study tries to peruse a four- story steel structure by coaxial bracing by using dissipating energy mechanisms and the comparison of these systems. It is obvious that the structure cannot withstand the earthquake forces and should be retrofitted in any way. Therefore, the research examines the performance of resistance structure under San Fernado earthquake record designed in DBE level by embedding the mechanisms of dissipation energy like seismic base isolation system, viscous and pall friction damper. Finally, the values of responses and forces are compared in each case of strength. To compare the effects of systems on main parameters such as stories drift and base shear, input and dissipated energy of structures are studied by various types of systems. The findings suggest the seismic isolation system reduces the base shear in the maximum extent and the friction damper has better performance on energy dissipation

    The next generation of Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants are expected to operate at higher temperatures than those currently in use, for improved efficiency and reduced cost of power generation. Degradation mechanisms that threaten structural alloys at elevated temperatures include thermal fatigue and creep as general threats to all sections of the system. In addition, specific degradation mechanisms caused by liquid sodium as the preferred heat transfer fluid material, eutectic salts or metals as Phase Change Material (PCM) in the storage and supercritical CO2 Brayton cycle in the generator threaten the plant. These threatening mechanisms have been discussed in this paper with some ideas for testing and evaluation specific to each condition

    Stainless steel 316 was examined for compatibility with the eutectic mixtures of NaCl + Na2CO3 and NaCl + Na2SO4 at 700 °C and Li2CO3 + K2CO3 + Na2CO3 at 450 °C in air for thermal energy storage. Electrochemical measurements combined with advanced microscopy and microanalysis techniques were employed. NaCl + Na2CO3 was found as the most aggressive salt at 700 °C. The attack morphology on the surface was uniform corrosion with no localized degradation at 450 °C. Microscopy observations showed grain boundary oxidative attack as the primary corrosion mechanism at 700 °C with depletion of alloying elements from grain boundaries

    Nowaday, with the proliferation of terrorist attacks on buildings in the world, a close examination of the behavior of structures under blast loads is a necessity. Pressure caused by the explosion of one of the most destructive loads that the structure may experience. Since the existing structures are usually designed to the common gravity and seismic loads, it is necessary to investigate their performances under blast loadings. In this study, analytical studies have been done for 2D structural models of concrete flexural frame and shear wall Partially Buried system with different number of stories 2 and 5. structures assessed based on the UFC 3-340-02 guidelines for 1000 kg TNT blast from 20 meters, the software SAP 2000 Design and nonlinear dynamic analysis have been. In order to loading, pressure values obtained from the explosion's blast wave, shock waves and pressure from the calculated reflection and As well as air blast wave parameters, including speed wavefront, period and wavelength explosion was determined and pressure graph - time of the explosion is offered. After analysis, The plastic hinge rotation, the formability and the highest axial force, shear force and bending moment occurred members, as well as maximum displacement, velocity and acceleration absolute floor level roof for all models will be investigated
