201-208Latent fingerprints have become most important evidence in law enforcement department and forensic agencies worldwide. It is also very important evidence in forensic applications to identify criminals as it is mostly encountered in crime scenes. Segmentation is one of the solutions to extract quality features. Fingerprint indexing reduces the search space without compromising accuracy. In this paper, minutiae based rotational and translational features and a global matching approach in combination with local matching is used in order to boost the indexing efficiency. Also, a machine learning (ML) based segmentation model is designed as a binary classification model to classify local blocks into foreground and background. Average indexed time as well as accuracy for full as well as partial fingerprints is tabulated by varying the template sminutiae

Assessment of Biomass Potential in Engine Emission Reduction

77-80The twin crisis of environmental degradation and fossil fuel depletion has confronted the world with the upcoming threat to seek the solution for some alternate fuel. The present condition of environment forces the search of some suitable alternate fuel. The present degradation of environment is also mainly influenced by the diesel vehicles. The emissions released by these diesel vehicles not only degrade the environment but also increase the number of health diseases. The present research on bio-fuels will lead to develop a sustainable solution to this problem and also create a harmonic relationship between the economy and ecosystem. The present research will provide the optimized blending ratio compression ratio and other operating parameters to be selected while approaching to sustainable output. The present study will depict the behavior of different bio-fuels poured in VCR engine at different compression ratio at different operating parameters. The outcomes of this research paper reveals the discussion on the potential assessment of different biofuels in the reduction of engine emissions

Effect of Groove Location on Pressure Profile of Twin Axial Groove Journal Bearing

    Get PDF
1049-1052The main aim of current work is to analyze the influence of groove location on the pressure profile of the hybrid journal bearing. The objective is to develop solution algorithm and computer program which will provide pressure profile developed in the space of clearance of bearing having a given value of Somerfield number. The solution algorithm shall also provide three dimensional pressure profiles of the bearing for different groove location. It was found that groove location with respect to the loading line strongly influences the parameters of performance because of the stronger groove interference in the pressurized hydrodynamic field. The comparison of circumferential pressure with angular location from +X-axis is shown for the ratio of length to diameter which comes out to be 0.5, the clearance ratio (C/R) is found to be 0.00294 while 1125 rpm is the speed. The groove axes optimal location lies between 60° to 90° (∝1 g =0°) to the line of loading

730-753Since decades fingerprints have been the prime source in identification of suspects latent fingerprints are compared and examined with rolled and plain fingerprints which are stored in the dataset. The common challenges which are faced while examining latent fingerprints are background noise, nonlinear distortions, poor ridge clarity and partial impression of the finger. As conventional methods of Segmentation doesn’t perform well on latent fingerprints. The current advancement in machine learning based segmentation approach has been showing good results in terms of segmentation accuracy but lacks to provide accurate result in terms of matching accuracy. As one of the problem faced in matching latent fingerprint is low clarity of ridge-valley pattern which results in detection of false minutiae and poor matching accuracy. A multilayer processing of artificial neural network based segmentation is proposed to minimize the detection of false minutiae and increase the matching accuracy. This approach is designed on binary classification model where the simulation will be carried out on IIIT-D latent fingerprint dataset. Segmentation will be divided into full and partial impression fingerprints which are then compared with minutiae with the database using local and global matching algorithm. An improvised result is received which is more accurate as compared to the previous algorithms

Role of Automation in Energy Management and Distribution

951-954This paper discusses about how automation plays its role in achieving sustainable energy management in broadly two aspects, industries and homes. Industrial or factory automation has its own benefits, and techniques have been evolved to cut down the power usage to significant levels of the conventional ways using Variable Frequency Drives (VFD). Home automation is equally important, controlling electrical appliances through microcontrollers and saving electricity automatically detecting their usage needs. It also discusses about the requisites for energy management and the economic aspect of using energy management systems

Effect of Sonication Parameters on Mechanical Properties of In-situ Amine Functionalized Multiple Layer Graphene/Epoxy Nanocomposites

In this investigation, combined effects of various sonication time and power on dispersion of 0.75 wt.% In-situ amine functionalized multi-layer Graphene (AF-MGL) in polymer matrix were studied. To ensure proper dispersion of AF-MGL in the epoxy matrix, sonication times of 10, 40, 70 min and powers of 20, 40, 60 W were used. The tensile test results indicate an initial increase in tensile modulus at smaller sonication time and then decrease for more sonication times. The highest tensile modulus and tensile strength were obtained at 40 W, 40 min and at 20 W, 40 min respectively. In order to classify the AF-MGL dispersion status, a scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used. With increased sonicity time and strength, dispersion has been noticed
