The case for resequencing studies of Arabidopsis thaliana accessions: mining the dark matter of natural genetic variation

Ultra-high-throughput sequencing (UHTS) techniques are evolving rapidly and may soon become an affordable and routine tool for sequencing plant DNA, even in smaller plant biology labs. Here we review recent insights into intraspecific genome variation gained from UHTS, which offers a glimpse of the rather unexpected levels of structural variability among Arabidopsis thaliana accessions. The challenges that will need to be addressed to efficiently assemble and exploit this information are also discussed

Analysis of communication models in web service compositions

In this paper we describe an approach for the verification of Web service compositions dened by sets of BPEL processes. The key aspect of such a verification is the model adopted for representing the communications among the services participating in the composition. Indeed, these communications are asynchronous and buffered in the existing execution frameworks, while most verication approaches assume a synchronous communication model for efficiency reasons. In our approach, we develop a parametric model for describing Web service compositions, which allows us to capture a hierarchy of communication models, ranging from synchronous communications to asynchronous communications with complex buffer structures. Moreover, we develop a technique to associate with a Web service composition the most adequate communication model, i.e., the simplest model that is sufficient to capture all the behaviors of the composition. This way, we can provide an accurate model of a wider class of service composition scenarios, while preserving as much as possible an efficient performance in verification

Automatic Intent-Based Secure Service Creation Through a Multilayer SDN Network Orchestration

Growing traffic demands and increasing security awareness are driving the need for secure services. Current solutions require manual configuration and deployment based on the customer's requirements. In this work, we present an architecture for an automatic intent-based provisioning of a secure service in a multilayer - IP, Ethernet, and optical - network while choosing the appropriate encryption layer using an open-source software-defined networking (SDN) orchestrator. The approach is experimentally evaluated in a testbed with commercial equipment. Results indicate that the processing impact of secure channel creation on a controller is negligible. LE ASSOCIAZIONI SPORTIVE DILETTANTISTICHE TRA PRINCIPIO DI SUSSIDIARIETÀ ORIZZONTALE E ATTIVITÀ DI INTERESSE GENERALE: LE CONVENZIONI EX ART. 56 DEL CODICE DEL TERZO SETTORE

Le associazioni sportive dilettantistiche, alla stregua di altre associazioni, perseguono obiettivi di natura collettiva e svolgono attività di interesse generale. Conseguentemente, le associazioni, che acquisiscono la qualificazione giuridica di Enti del Terzo settore (ETS) sono, alla luce delle previsioni della Riforma del Terzo settore, coinvolte direttamente nella definizione di interventi, azioni e progetti condivisi con le pubbliche amministrazioni. In questo senso, le convenzioni di cui all’art. 56 del Codice del Terzo settore rappresentano uno strumento privilegiato per le associazioni sportive dilettantistiche per realizzare in partnership con gli enti pubblici gli obiettivi condivisi

Nel diritto eurounitario, i servizi di interesse generale, in cui possono rientrare anche le attività sportive dilettantistiche, godono di un “trattamento” particolare, attese le finalità che esse intendono realizzare e che i diversi ordinamenti giuridici riconoscono come tali. Nel parere del Comitato economico e sociale europeo CESE, si evidenzia che proprio le finalità perseguite dai servizi in oggetto dovrebbero consentire di derogare anche alla disciplina europea degli aiuti di Stato, favorendo un diverso rapporto tra enti pubblici e soggetti non profit, che, in larga parte, sono chiamati ad erogare quei servizi

ICONA: Inter Cluster ONOS Network Application

Several Network Operating Systems (NOS) have been proposed in the last few years for Software Defined Networks; however, a few of them are currently offering the resiliency, scalability and high availability required for production environments. Open Networking Operating System (ONOS) is an open source NOS, designed to be reliable and to scale up to thousands of managed devices. It supports multiple concurrent instances (a cluster of controllers) with distributed data stores. A tight requirement of ONOS is that all instances must be close enough to have negligible communication delays, which means they are typically installed within a single datacenter or a LAN network. However in certain wide area network scenarios, this constraint may limit the speed of responsiveness of the controller toward network events like failures or congested links, an important requirement from the point of view of a Service Provider. This paper presents ICONA, a tool developed on top of ONOS and designed in order to extend ONOS capability in network scenarios where there are stringent requirements in term of control plane responsiveness. Gli Enti del terzo settore e la coamministrazione: ruolo della giurisprudenza e proposte de jure condendo

Gli Enti del Terzo settore sono chiamati a svolgere una o più attività di interesse generale per realizzare finalità civiche, solidaristiche e di utilità sociale, così come disciplinato dal Codice del Terzo settore. Lo svolgimento delle attività in parola può essere oggetto di appositi accordi collaborativi con le pubbliche amministrazioni (co-amministrazione), attraverso i quali enti non profit e pubbliche amministrazioni condividono gli obiettivi e la realizzazione degli interventi. Si tratta di un “modello ordinario” di collaborazione tra enti pubblici ed Enti del terzo settore che, anche alla luce di alcuni provvedimenti de jure condendo, appare coerente e adeguato alla realizzazione di obiettivi di interesse generale e “altro” rispetto alle tradizionali procedure ad evidenza pubblica di matrice competitiva
