Elementary knowledge of mathematics in primary school in the state of Bahia

Disponível em: http://www.sbem.com.br/ojs/index.php/ripem/article/view/148This article aims principally to present the research developed in the State of Bahia/Brazil by the study group in mathematics education (GEEM)1, sponsored by the National Research Council (CNPq) and the State University of Southwest Bahia (UESB)2. It is noteworthy that this research integrates the international scope project developed in partnership with the research group: History of Mathematics Education (GHEMAT)3. Our timespan comprises the period from 1890 to 1970, when we investigated the development of the elementary knowledge of mathematics, namely arithmetics, geometry and drawing, existing in primary schools. Initially the work focused on the search and the scanning of legislation and regulatory requirements of the State; in a second moment, we have focused on finding pedagogical journals that circulated in the state; and finally, identifying and scanning the listed books that circulated in the state

O ensino da matemática e a cultura escolar dos grupos escolares do Município de Aiquara, Bahia (1965-1985)

The teaching of mathematics and the school culture of the school groups of the Municipality of Aiquara, Bahia (1965-1985)Resumo: Este texto, faz parte de uma pesquisa de Mestrado que se insere no campo da história da Educação Matemática Escolar, cujo objetivo é analisar de que maneira foi desenvolvido o ensino de Matemática e identificar a cultura escolar dos grupos escolares do município de Aiquara BA, no período compreendido entre os anos 1965 a 1985. Para tanto, constitui-se os dados desta pesquisa as fontes primárias: documentos escolares, tais como: leis, decretos, atas, livros, cadernos, provas etc., referentes aos grupos escolares, assim como as fontes orais, produzidas a partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas com ex-funcionários (professores e diretores) e ex-alunos. Por se tratar de uma pesquisa histórica será utilizada a análise documental e o aporte teórico utilizado foi composto por André Chervel (1990), que teoriza sobre a História das Disciplinas Escolares, Roger Chartier (2002) sobre a História Cultural e Dominique Julia (2001) sobre a Cultura Escolar. A partir dos dados preliminares é possível identificar que o ensino da matemática foi constituído do ensino das operações fundamentais, fortemente influenciada pela tabuada, prescrito com grande rigor disciplinar.Palavras-Chave: História do Ensino da Matemática. Cultura Escolar. Abstract:This text is part of a Master's in progress research that is part of the history of School Mathematics Education, whose objective is to analyze how mathematics teaching was developed and to identify the school culture of the school groups of the municipality of Aiquara in the period, between 1965 and 1985. For this purpose, the data of this research are the primary sources: school documents, such as: laws, decrees, minutes, books, notebooks, such as oral sources, produced from semi-structured interviews with former employees (teachers and principals) and alumni. The theoretical-methodological contribution used in the analyzes was composed by André Chervel (1990), who theorizes on the History of School Disciplines, Roger Chartier (2002) on Cultural History and Dominique Julia (2001) on School Culture. From the preliminary data it is possible to identify that the teaching of mathematics was constituted of the teaching of the fundamental operations, strongly influenced by the tableau, prescribed with great disciplinary rigor.Keywords: History of Mathematics Teaching. O ensino de matemática e a educação feminina: aritmética e geometria no curso primário da Bahia império-república (1827-1939).
