OSOBE S INVALIDITETOM U HORTIKULTURI ā PREFERENCIJE ZA EDUKACIJU I ZAPOÅ LJAVANJE
This paper is about motivation of persons with disabilities (PWDs)
for horticultural activities and training in order to improve their
employment opportunities in an open labour market. A quantitative
survey about PWDsĀ“ willingness for employment in horticulture
sector was conducted among the users of the compensation to
employment in Zagreb (Croatia). The convenient sample consisted
of 236 respondents. Apart from sociodemographic variables, the
respondents were asked about their educational background, additional
skills and knowledge for employment, health indicators,
well-being perception and horticultural preferences. The majority
of the respondents loved plants (88%) and staying in the nature
(93%). One third of the respondents were interested in ornamental
horticulture education. The preferable profession, chosen
among 12 sectors of different professions, was gardening, in 38%
respondents. The research indicated that education and practicing of horticulture have significant potential in raising the quality of life of
PWDs in various ways ā as an excellent area for employment,
reducing the PWDsā high unemployment rate, and as an activity
with significant benefits to their personal development, rehabilitation,

Claude Monet ā PainterĀ“s Garden in Giverny
Vrt poznatog slikara impresionista Claudea Oscara Moneta (1840. Garden, of a very well known impressionistic painter Claude Oscar Monet (1840. ā 1926.), was formed in the late 19th century as a result of the painterās two great passions - painting and gardening. Both were accomplished on the landed property of about 3 ha , which was bought by the artist in a small village of Giverny, situated 70 km northwest of Paris. The garden consisted of three parts, and the garden design was based on the specific use of the plant material. Particularly famous are the flower-beds formed by applying interesting color combinations, created tirelessly by the artist in his garden and painted almost with the same inspiration on his canvases

Evaluation of microbial diversity of the microbial mat from the extremely acidic Lake Robule (Bor, Serbia)
Extremely acidic environments are frequently formed in areas impacted by mining activities, and Lake Robule is such an ecosystem. Although an extreme environment, Lake Robule is inhabited by acidophilic microorganisms. We investigated biodiversity of the macroscopic structure known as a microbial mat formed on the lake bottom in shallow waters. Microbial mats are common in acidic environments, but their composition can differ significantly from site to site. Microbial diversity of the mat from Lake Robule was investigated using both cultivation-dependent and metagenomic approaches. The results showed the mat to be mostly inhabited by heterotrophic acidophilic bacteria. When compared to the microbial community of Lake Robule's surface water, the microbial mat proved to be a more complex community. A biogeochemical model of the mat of Lake Robule is proposed on the basis of our results and available published data
Fertilization Has No Influence on Growth and Flowering of Eustoma grandiflorum (Raf.) Shinners Grown as Cut Flower
The fertilization of Eustoma grandiflorum (Raf.) Shinners grown in container in ornamental plant production is oft en empirically based. Previous research shows that the application of chitosan or cultivation technique like nutrient film technique (NFT) improved the performance of the treated cultivars. In order to further improve our knowledge of plant requirements, we measured the growth and flowering of two Eustoma grandiflorum cultivars upon the application of liquid mineral fertilizer āFertina Pā in the 1.5 and 3% concentration. The addition of fertilizer which contains inorganic salts had no impact on the growth and flowering of two tested cultivars ā²Flamenco Pecotee Blueā² and ā²Mariachi Blueā²
Selection of plant material for designing green areas in PopovaÄa
KoriÅ”tenjem biljnog materijala koji nije prezahtjevan u pogledu njege, osim funkcionalnosti i estetskih kriterija, olakÅ”avamo posao oko održavanja javnih zelenih povrÅ”ina.A proper selection of plant material is very important in designing public green areas. Except for aesthetic functions, a special attention should also be paid to the way these areas will be maintained. It is a big problem in smaller towns where there are no bigger utility services. Therefore, these areas are rarely maintained, or at least not to a necessary extent. Except for its functionality and aesthetic criteria, we make the maintenance of public green areas easier by using not too demanding plant material in terms of cultivation
rRNA methyltransferases and their role in resistance to antibiotics
Methyltransferases (MTases), a large protein superfamily, commonly use S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) as the methyl group donor. SAM-dependant MTases methylate both nucleic acids (DNA, RNA) and proteins, and thus modulate their activity, function and folding. Methylation of G1405 or A1408 nucleotides of 16S rRNA in aminoglycoside-producing microorganisms confers the resistance to their own toxic product(s). This mechanism of resistance has been considered as unique to antibiotics producers until recently. Since 2003, methylation of 16S rRNA as a mechanism of resistance is increasingly emerging in pathogenic bacteria. This represents a major threat towards the usefulness of aminoglycosides in the clinical practice. A potential solution to the problem involves the design of novel compounds that would act against new ribosomal targets. The second approach to the issue includes the development of resistance MTases' inhibitors, with the idea to prevent them from modifying the bacterial rRNA, and thus reinstate the therapeutic power of existing aminoglycosides. As the latter approach has considerable potential, it is obvious that fundamental research related to protein expression, in-depth understanding of the mechanism of action and resolving a tertiary structure of 16S rRNAs MTases are prerequisites for application in medicine
ARRANGEMENT OF PLANT MATERIAL INSIDE GRAVEYARD POPOVAÄA
In the choice of plant material for the graveyard in PopovaÄa, natural space characteristics and the demands of plant material will be taken into consideration. Instructions for maintenance of new green areas as well as those existing ones will be given
