Stacked porous octahedral tin phosphate Sn(2)P(2)O(7) nanodisks, with a thickness and a width of 20 nm and 200 nm, respectively, were prepared from quenching hydrothermally prepared (SnHPO(4))(2)center dot H(2)O at 600 degrees C. The first discharge capacity was 600 mA h g(-1) while the capacity retention, even after 220 cycles, was 93%.close7

Thermally activated flux flow in superconducting epitaxial FeSe0.6Te0.4 thin film

AbstractThe thermally activated flux flow effect has been studied in epitaxial FeSe0.6Te0.4 thin film grown by a PLD method through the electrical resistivity measurement under various magnetic fields for B//c and B//ab. The results showed that the thermally activated flux flow effect is well described by the nonlinear temperature-dependent activation energy. The evaluated apparent activation energy U0(B) is one order larger than the reported results and showed the double-linearity in both magnetic field directions. Furthermore, the FeSe0.6Te0.4 thin film shows the anisotropy of 5.6 near Tc and 2D-like superconducting behavior in thermally activated flux flow region. In addition, the vortex glass transition and the temperature dependence of the high critical fields were determined

Transmittance and reflectance measurements at terahertz frequencies on a superconducting BaFe_{1.84}Co_{0.16}As_2 ultrathin film: an analysis of the optical gaps in the Co-doped BaFe_2As_2 pnictide

Here we report an optical investigation in the terahertz region of a 40 nm ultrathin BaFe1.84_{1.84}Co0.16_{0.16}As2_2 superconducting film with superconducting transition temperature Tc_c = 17.5 K. A detailed analysis of the combined reflectance and transmittance measurements showed that the optical properties of the superconducting system can be described in terms of a two-band, two-gap model. The zero temperature value of the large gap ΔB\Delta_B, which seems to follow a BCS-like behavior, results to be ΔB\Delta_B(0) = 17 cm1^{-1}. For the small gap, for which ΔA\Delta_A(0) = 8 cm1^{-1}, the temperature dependence cannot be clearly established. These gap values and those reported in the literature for the BaFe2x_{2-x}Cox_{x}As2_2 system by using infrared spectroscopy, when put together as a function of Tc_c, show a tendency to cluster along two main curves, providing a unified perspective of the measured optical gaps. Below a temperature around 20 K, the gap-sizes as a function of Tc_c seem to have a BCS-like linear behavior, but with different slopes. Above this temperature, both gaps show different supra-linear behaviors

Causes of Sudden Death Related to Sexual Activity : Results of a Medicolegal Postmortem Study from 2001 to 2005

Sexual activity (SA), combined with organic heart disease, may cause sudden death (SD). However, the causes of SD related to SA are not known well. The aim of this study was to assess the causes of SD related to SA. From August 2001 to November 2005, all autopsies (n=1,379) performed at Kyungpook National University were prospectively searched for SD cases related to SA. Fourteen cases (46±11 yr old, 9 males) of SD related to SA were found. All were heterosexual. The toxicologic study was negative in all. Ten cases were witnessed; during SA in 4 cases, just after SA in another 4 cases, 2 and 5 hr after in 1 each case. In 4 unwitnessed cases the victims were found dead less than 12 hr from the end of their SA. The partners were steady extramarital partners (n=8), prostitutes (n=2), marital partner (n=1) and unknown (n=3). The causes of the SD were as follows; coronary artery disease in 6, subarachnoid hemorrhage with ruptured berry aneurysm in 4, fibromuscular dysplasia of the atrioventricular nodal artery in 2, and unknown in 2. Coronary artery disease and subarachnoid hemorrhage with ruptured berry aneurysm were important as causes of SD related to SA
