    On the number of particles which a curved quantum waveguide can bind

    We discuss the discrete spectrum of N particles in a curved planar waveguide. If they are neutral fermions, the maximum number of particles which the waveguide can bind is given by a one-particle Birman-Schwinger bound in combination with the Pauli principle. On the other hand, if they are charged, e.g., electrons in a bent quantum wire, the Coulomb repulsion plays a crucial role. We prove a sufficient condition under which the discrete spectrum of such a system is empty.Comment: a LateX file, 12 page

    Experimental investigation of Paper Honeycomb subjected to quasi-static loading

    Three point bending test is performed to investigate the collapse load of paper honeycomb sandwich panel. Three panel thickness were considered; 9.1 mm, 35.84 mm and 41.92 mm with an eight span length. Eight span lengths range from 50 mm to 120 mm with 10 mm increment are compressed with 2 mm/min. The Paik’s theoretical collapse load is adapted and compared with experimental results.The agreement between experiment and theory are only found at d= 50mm,70 mm and 120 mm

    Avian influenza is an epidemic caused by type A influenza virus subtype H5N1,transmitted by wildfowl or domestic poultry and may attack human. The study,therefore,aims to reveal the increase of the peoples knowledge, the change in attitude,and the people participation in the prevention and care for avian influenza in bontonompo district of Gowa regency. The research design is quantitative with quasi experiment.The study employs 120 poultry farmers as samples selected by purposive sampling method and theanalysis utilizes statistical T-Test. The study proves that before the intervention of educational information communication model is conducted,the peoples knowledge of,attitude towards,and practice of the prevention of and care for Avian influenza are limited.After the intervention of IEC (information,education and communication)model on the prevention of the disease, there is an improvement in the knowledge,attitude and practice of the farmers in dealing with the prevention of care for avian influenza. It is suggested that the established community group caring for the prevention of avian influenza should be supported by related parties like husbandry office or regional health office through guidance and supervision

    Degaradasi moral sekarang mengancam generasi muda tidak terkecuali peserta didik SD, rusaknya perilaku peserta didik ini disebabkan banyak faktor dari dalam maupun dari luar, namun dengan pendidikan dan keteladanan dari guru semoga dapat mengurangi dampak negatif perilaku peserta didik dan merubah perilaku peserta didik ke arah yang lebih baik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang menggunakan analisis kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan tehnik deskriptif persentase. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah apakah dengan keteladanan guru dapat meningkatkan akhlak mulia siswa SDN Ngaluran 2?, dapatkah keteladanan guru mempengaruhi pembentukan sikap akhalk mulia siswa SDN Ngaluran 2?, apakah pengaruh yang ditimbulkan dari sikap guru terhadap pembentukan akhlak mulia siswa SDN Ngaluran 2?. Tujuan penelitian untuk meningkatkan dan membentuk perilaku akhlak mulia peserta didik. Penelitian dilakukan pada siswa kelas V SDN Ngaluran 2 Kecamatan Karanganyar Kabupaten Demak, dengan jumlah siswa 32 anak. Penelitian dilakukan dua siklus.Indikator keberhasilan dalam penelitian ini antara lain Perubahan perilaku siswa dari kurang baik menjadi baik, meningkatkan aktifitas siswa dalam pembelajaran, guru dapat memberikan contoh keteladanan kepada peserta didik. Hasil penelitian, pada siklus I menunjukkkan perilaku peserta didik masih rendah dan pada siklus II mengalami peningkatan yaitu berdasarkan pengamatan guru menjadi 100% kurang baik dan pada siklus III menjadi 22% kurang baik dan 78% baik, berdasarkan penilaian peserta didik dari siklus II 100% berperilaku kurang baik dan pada siklus III menjadi 6,25% kurang baik dan 93,75% baik, keteladan guru dari siklus II 88% sangat baik menjadi 92% sangat baik. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa peserta didik mengalami peningkatan dan Perubahan perilaku kearah yang lebih baik.Berdasarkan penelitian ini disarankan agar guru dapat memberikan keteladanan yang baik bagi peserta didik

    Lung Injury Pathways: Adenosine Receptor 2B Signaling Limits Development of Ischemic Bronchiolitis Obliterans Organizing Pneumonia

    Purpose/Aim of the Study: Adenosine signaling was studied in bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP) resulting from unilateral lung ischemia. Materials and Methods: Ischemia was achieved by either left main pulmonary artery or complete hilar ligation. Sprague–Dawley (SD) rats, Dahl salt sensitive (SS) rats and SS mutant rat strains containing a mutation in the A2B adenosine receptor gene (Adora2b) were studied. Adenosine concentrations were measured in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) by HPLC. A2A (A2AAR) and A2B adenosine receptor (A2BAR) mRNA and protein were quantified. Results: Twenty-four hours after unilateral PA ligation, BAL adenosine concentrations from ischemic lungs were increased relative to contralateral lungs in SD rats. A2BAR mRNA and protein concentrations were increased after PA ligation while miR27a, a negatively regulating microRNA, was decreased in ischemic lungs. A2AAR mRNA and protein concentrations remained unchanged following ischemia. A2BAR protein was increased in PA ligated lungs of SS rats after 7 days, and 4 h after complete hilar ligation in SD rats. SS-Adora2b mutants showed a greater extent of BOOP relative to SS rats, and greater inflammatory changes. Conclusion: Increased A2BAR and adenosine following unilateral lung ischemia as well as more BOOP in A2BAR mutant rats implicate a protective role for A2BAR signaling in countering ischemic lung injury
