Clinical significance of P53 and Bcl-2 in acute myeloid leukemia patients of Eastern India

    Get PDF
The frequency of p53 and Bcl-2 protein expression in 100 newly diagnosed and 10 relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients was analyzed by immunocytochemistry (ICC). The Kaplan-Meier method was used for univariate and multivariate statistical analysis to assess the relationship between p53, Bcl-2 and clinico-hematologic feature with respect to overall survival (OS) using SPSS statistical software. No statistical significance was found in univariate analysis (P=0.60). However, when the subgroups of patients (+1, +2, +3 and +4) were compared, expression of p53 and Bcl-2 protein (1–10%, 11–30%, 31–50% and >50%) was statistically significant (P<0.05). However, in multivariate analysis, p53, immunopositivity was independently associated with a shorter overall survival (OS) (P=0.038) while Bcl-2 immunopositivity was associated with longer overall survival (OS) (P=0.002). Our finding shows that p53 and Bcl-2 protein overexpression is a strong indicator of response to chemotherapy and overall survival. This study reports for the first time AML in patients from Eastern India

A hybrid Many Optimizing Liaisons Gravitational Search Algorithm (hMOL-GSA)-based fuzzy PID controller is proposed in this work for Automatic Generation Control problem. MOL is a simplified version of particle swarm optimization which ignores the particle best position consequently simplifying the algorithm. The proposed method is employed to tune the fuzzy PID parameters. The outcomes are equated with some newly proposed methods like Artificial Bee Colony (ABC)-based PID for the identical test systems to validate the supremacy of GSA and proposed hMOL-GSA techniques. Further, the design task has been carried out in a three-area test system and the outcomes are equated with newly proposed Firefly Algorithm (FA) optimized PID and Teaching Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO) tuned PIDD controller for the identical system. Better system response has been observed with proposed hMOL-GSA method. Finally, sensitivity study is being carried out and robustness of the proposed method is established

This paper proposes a new Search Group Algorithm based PID controller, to deal with Automatic Generation Control of two-area with six unit power system. The supremacy of SGA tuned PID controller is being shown using the comparative study with Firefly Algorithm (FA) optimization method for the same test system using ITAE as an objective function. It has been demonstrated that SGA tuned PID controller improves the performance in a large compared with FA tuned PID controller. Furthermore variation in nominal values of operating load condition and system parameters with the position of step load perturbation is being carried out to achieve sensitivity analysis. From the result of sensitivity analysis it clearly depicts the robustness of the suggested method (SGA with PID controller) for two-area with six unit power system in AGC. Finally for better investigation, the proposed method is also examined by applying randomization in step load

This paper discusses the application of conventional concept of services marketing in digital library in modern era. The aim of this study to attempt to correlate marketing as a concept to the provision of digital library services. The unique characteristics of information products may demand a new approach to marketing defined as information marketing. In view of the social, economic and technological changes, Library and Information centers have begun to realize that marketing of information products and services is an integral part of administration. On account of information explosion, the technological revolution and escalating library costs are responsible for encouraging the library profession to develop a professional marketing approach in its operations and services. This paper discusses the concept of conventional services marketing system as they are affected in digital library services. The concept would help to provide right service at right time and the right price to right users in the right place with support of quality staffs. This paper provides useful information on the marketing of digital library and information services

Design and analysis of differential evolution algorithm based automatic generation control for interconnected power system

    Get PDF
This paper presents the design and performance analysis of Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm based Proportional-Integral (PI) controller for Automatic Generation Control (AGC) of an interconnected power system. A two area non-reheat thermal system equipped with PI controllers which is widely used in literature is considered for the design and analysis purpose. The design problem is formulated as an optimization problem control and DE is employed to search for optimal controller parameters. Three different objective functions using Integral Time multiply Absolute Error (ITAE), damping ratio of dominant eigenvalues and settling time with appropriate weight coefficients are derived in order to increase the performance of the controller. The superiority of the proposed DE optimized PI controller has been shown by comparing the results with some recently published modern heuristic optimization techniques such as Bacteria Foraging Optimization Algorithm (BFOA) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) based PI controller for the same interconnected power system

Automatic generation control with thyristor controlled series compensator including superconducting magnetic energy storage units

In the present work, an attempt has been made to understand the dynamic performance of Automatic Generation Control (AGC) of multi-area multi-units thermal–thermal power system with the consideration of Reheat turbine, Generation Rate Constraint (GRC) and Time delay. Initially, the gains of the fuzzy PID controller are optimized using Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm. The superiority of DE is demonstrated by comparing the results with Genetic Algorithm (GA). After that performance of Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) has been investigated. Further, a TCSC is placed in the tie-line and Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) units are considered in both areas. Finally, sensitivity analysis is performed by varying the system parameters and operating load conditions from their nominal values. It is observed that the optimum gains of the proposed controller need not be reset even if the system is subjected to wide variation in loading condition and system parameters

An attempt is made for the effective application of Gravitational Search Algorithm (GSA) to optimize PI/PIDF controller parameters in Automatic Generation Control (AGC) of interconnected power systems. Initially, comparison of several conventional objective functions reveals that ITAE yields better system performance. Then, the parameters of GSA technique are properly tuned and the GSA control parameters are proposed. The superiority of the proposed approach is demonstrated by comparing the results of some recently published techniques such as Differential Evolution (DE), Bacteria Foraging Optimization Algorithm (BFOA) and Genetic Algorithm (GA). Additionally, sensitivity analysis is carried out that demonstrates the robustness of the optimized controller parameters to wide variations in operating loading condition and time constants of speed governor, turbine, tie-line power. Finally, the proposed approach is extended to a more realistic power system model by considering the physical constraints such as reheat turbine, Generation Rate Constraint (GRC) and Governor Dead Band nonlinearity

In this paper, Differential Evolution (DE) optimized fuzzy PID controller with derivative Filter (PIDF) is proposed for Load Frequency Control (LFC) of a deregulated power system with multi-source power generation and interconnected via parallel AC/DC transmission links. To get an accurate insight of the LFC problem, important physical constraints such as time delay and GRC are considered. The performance of proposed controller is evaluated at all possible power transactions that take place in a deregulated power market. The improvement in dynamic performance of the power system with DC link in parallel with AC tie-line is also assessed. Further, sensitivity analysis is performed by varying the system parameters and operating load conditions from their nominal values. It is observed from the simulation results that the optimum gains of the proposed controller need not be reset even if the system is subjected to wide variation in loading condition and system parameters
