Helicobacter pylori Infection and Diabetes Mellitus

    Get PDF
Helicobacter pylori colonizes the stomach and causes chronic gastritis, which most often remains asymptomatic. However, in a small proportion of infected persons, it causes peptic ulcers and gastric cancer. We reviewed recent evidence of the association between H. pylori infection and diabetes mellitus (DM). Numerous studies have shown a positive association between H. pylori infection and DM, however, findings are still conflicting. Such a link is biologically plausible, given the importance of the stomach in the homeostasis of systems outside the digestive tract; however, the mechanisms by which H. pylori might affect the risk of DM are not clear. Current knowledge indicates that H. pylori infection can affect the regulation of ghrelin and leptin, two hormones that play central roles in energy homeostasis in humans. Yet, methodological limitations are present in studies that addressed the relationships of H. pylori infection with DM and with possible risk factors for DM, including inadequate control of confounders. The important question of whether H. pylori eradication might be beneficial for glycemic control in diabetic patients is still unresolved. Future well-designed studies are needed to address these research questions, which are of clinical and great public health significance

Metastability of Glauber dynamics with inhomogeneous coupling disorder

We introduce a general class of mean-field-like spin systems with random couplings that comprises both the Ising model on inhomogeneous dense random graphs and the randomly diluted Hopfield model. We are interested in quantitative estimates of metastability in large volumes at fixed temperatures when these systems evolve according to a Glauber dynamics, i.e. where spins flip with Metropolis rates at inverse temperature β\beta. We identify conditions ensuring that with high probability the system behaves like the corresponding system where the random couplings are replaced by their averages. More precisely, we prove that the metastability of the former system is implied with high probability by the metastability of the latter. Moreover, we consider relevant metastable hitting times of the two systems and find the asymptotic tail behaviour and the moments of their ratio. This work provides an extension of the results known for the Ising model on the the Erd\H{o}s-R\'enyi random graph. The proofs use the potential-theoretic approach to metastability in combination with concentration inequalities.Comment: 30 page

Teaching is a fundamental building block in development; it is a basic pillar for all prosperity plans and sustainable development in addition to the essential tasks related to social and cultural aspects. The relationship between education and people is mutual in that they affect and get affected by each other. The more education spreads, the better the lifestyles become. However, when populations raise dramatically, the educational system gets affected both qualitatively and quantitatively. This paper tackles the effect of population growth on educational services. To reach the objectives of the research, data related to demographic characteristics were analyzed along with some educational indicators in Lattakia Governorate. Three hypotheses were tested through using SPSS program. Results showed that there is a statistical significant effect of population increase on the portion of teachers for each individual in Lattakia Governorate, and that there is a statistical significant effect of population increase on the portion of classes for each individual. Results also revealed that there is a statistical significant effect of population increase on the portion of school number for each individual in in Lattakia Governorate

The stability studies of biologically active 2,4-dinitrosoresorcinol, o-carboxy phenylazo-dinitrosoresorcinol, N,N`-bis-[4,4`-(1,3-diphenyltriazine)]-diacetamide, 2-amino-6-phenylazo-pyridin-3-ol, 2-amino-3-hydroxy-pyridin-6-ylazo)-benzoic acid, 4-(2-amino-3-hydroxy-pyridin-6-ylazo)-benzoic acid ethyl ester and N-[4-(2-amino-3-hydroxy-pyridin-6-ylazo)-phenyl]-acetamide compounds were studied. The dissociation constants were determined potentiometrically. The thermodynamic parameters of dissociation were evaluated. Regression analysis is applied for correlating the different parameters. The results help to assign the solute-solvent interactions and the solvatochromic potential of the investigated compounds. The electronic character of the substituent and the chemical nature of the solvent are major factors for the observed solvatochromism

One of the diseases this century. Unfortunately most young people, especially women to become infected patients with multiple sclerosis (M. S) is a world specialist physicians still cause is unknown. Loss or inability to work, in people with this disease the huge economic burden to society. Today, self-assessed health status using a standard set of epidemiological research-based society. Given the importance of quality of life relative improvement of life study, Reporting and Assessment of quality of life using the second version of the questionnaire 36sf in the life of these patients. This cross - sectional study that randomly among 70 patients with multiple sclerosis. in Iranshahr  area of Iran a questionnaire on items Physical function, physical problems, emotional problems, vitality, mental health, social functioning, bodily pain, general health was conducted. The obtained data were anlyazed by using statistical software spss 16, excel 2010. The findings showed that the mean scores of physical components (pcs) 5.7857 and total score that each component in M.S patients (67/0 = r, 01/0 = p) is positive and significant relationship. The results showed the importance of quality of life and social protection, which can be life satisfaction and hope in patients with multiple sclerosis . However, though the quality of life in various forms including financial, cultural, educational and supportive services can have on the well-being of patients with M.S contribute, However, due to the lack of definitive therapy for the treatment of this disease so overall quality of life can also have a significant relationship with partial recovery of patients. Design and implementation of intervention programs to enhance people's understanding of MS, Ways to prevent it and promoting protective behaviors is essential at the community level.
