Reviewing the Classical Islamic Paradigm Towards Islam Moderatism

Now a day, Muslim as citizen of the world (in globalization context) confronts very powerful challenges to play the roles as agent of change or at least they can exist in alteration. If Muslim put themselves in second position, the failures of carrying out the mission of revelation with universal values and civilization doctrine within the global rivalry that is growing up around the world. The failures of carrying out the revelation are caused by several things. First, Muslims tend to be classical. It is caused by the understanding of revelation text which is accepted textually without investigate the contextual substance of text. Therefore, this understanding will create the truth claims, apologetic, and arrogance that affect the fundamentalism, Puritanism or Islamism that attend to be radical and blame the fellow Muslim especially non Muslim. Second, Islam is considered as the same as Arab, so Arab tradition claims as Islamic tradition, Islamic doctrine claims as Arab doctrine, and Islamic culture claims as Arab culture. At last, the Islamic values and doctrines are narrowly localized by Arab traditions and cultures. Plagiarism process on Arab culture will gradually bend the cultures-clash with Nusantara Culture and the impact between civilizations, namely, Arab civilization and Nusantara civilization. Third, Islam is judged as the same as a state. In this context, the rules of the state must adopt Islamic rules; the government system must be the same with the Islamic system (khilafah) with all of the forms, types, cultures, and religious identity being system of state. At last, Islam becomes state of religious that apply in some Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, and other Islamic countries
