    Electrochemical assisted abrasive flow finishing is a newly developed hybrid finishing process which is used to finish the internal parts of work piece having complicated geometry to large extent. In electrochemical assisted abrasive flow machining higher abrasion of the material was detected due to the combine effect of ECM and AFF processes. In Electrochemical aided abrasive flow machining a electrolyte is added to the prepared media .This media consist a kind of polymeric carrier and abrasive particles that are hydrocarbon gel, Al2O3, Silicon based polymer, and NaI Sodium iodide as electrolytic salt. In this experimental research different process parameters such as voltage, abrasive concentration, Number of cycle, molal concentration and diameter of rod were considered at different levels for response characteristic of surface roughness Ra and material removal MR based on Taguchi method using standard L27 orthogonal array OA for the plan of experimentation. To determine the contribution of each parameter analysis of variance was used.     Spatial variability in erosion in the Brahmaputra basin: causes and impacts

    The rivers from the Himalaya supply large quantities of particulate and dissolved materials to the oceans. Among the various rivers, the Brahmaputra ranks highest in contributing to the sediment budget of the Bay of Bengal. The erosion rates among the sub-basins of the Brahmaputra vary over 1-2 orders of magnitude, the highest being in the Eastern Syntaxis basin which is eroding at an enormously high rate of ∼14 mm yr-1 , caused by the high stream power of the Siang river. These contemporary erosion rates are consistent with the time-averaged erosion and exhumation rates derived for ∼100 ka based on cosmogenic isotopes and geophysical methods. Both the Eastern and the Western syntaxes experience rapid erosion suggesting that the syntaxes, a characteristic feature of the collision belt, undergo rapid erosion under favourable conditions. The rapid erosion of the Eastern Syntaxis has caused important tectonic and geomorphological changes, such as the rapid uplift of this region resulting in the great peaks of Namche Barwa and Gyala Peri, and the nickpoint in the Tsangpo river bed prior to its entrance to the gorge. Further, the rapid erosion makes up about half of the particulate material transported by the Brahmaputra to the Bay of Bengal, an order of magnitude higher than its areal coverage. The high sedimentation rate in the Bay of Bengal over the past ∼1 Ma can be due to the high erosion rate of the Eastern Syntaxis.     Role of homobrassinolide, abscisic acid, and 6-benzylamino purine on delaying flower senescence in Gladiolus grandiflora

    A study was conducted to investigate the effects of homobrassinolide (HBL), abscisic acid (ABA) and 6-benzylamino purine (BAP) on the post-harvest life of 2 Gladiolus grandiflora cultivars, snow princess and nova lux. Different concentrations of HBL, ABA and BAP were applied to cut flowers. The experimental results showed that ABA and BAP treatments significantly increased post-harvest life in snow princess and nova lux cultivars compared to untreated flowers. However, HBL treatment was unsuccessful in delaying senescence in gladiolus. Furthermore, ABA and BAP treatments were more effective in delaying senescence in the nova lux cultivar than in the snow princess cultivar. Vase solutions containing BAP (500 M) and ABA (10 M) were the most efficient in extending the life of the cut floral spike of the nova lux variety (10 and 9 days respectively) followed by the snow princess variety (8 and 7 days respectively). Increasing fresh weight of flowers, vase solution uptake and membrane integrity along with a decrease in pH, malondialdehyde content, and lipoxygenase (LOX) activity prolonged flowers' post-harvest life. In terms of the post-harvest life of G. grandiflora, BAP outperformed ABA in improving the flower longevity of Gladiolus by maintaining higher physiological and biochemical stability in petals

    Control of DSTATCOM in 3-Phase 3-Wire Distribution System using Modified IcosØ Algorithm

    In this paper, a 3-leg VSC (voltage source converter) based DSTATCOM (Distribution Static Compensator) is used for load compensation in 3-phase 3-wire distribution system. The control algorithm is based on IcosØ algorithm. This modified IcosØ algorithm is used for extracting the reference source currents for Power Factor Correction, Load Balancing and Voltage Regulation at PCC (point of common coupling). For various load conditions such as a reactive linear load, an unbalanced load and a non-linear load, Simulations are performed for Power Factor Correction (PFC) mode and Zero Voltage Regulation (ZVR) mode in MATLAB environment using SIMULINK and SimPowerSystem toolbox. Steady state and dynamic results on a developed hardware prototype of DSTATCOM are also presented to validate the control algorithm for DSTATCOM.     An efficient numerical method based on exponential B-splines for time-fractional Black-Scholes equation governing European options

    In this paper a time-fractional Black-Scholes model (TFBSM) is considered to study the price change of the underlying fractal transmission system. We develop and analyze a numerical method to solve the TFBSM governing European options. The numerical method combines the exponential B-spline collocation to discretize in space and a finite difference method to discretize in time. The method is shown to be unconditionally stable using von-Neumann analysis. Also, the method is proved to be convergent of order two in space and 2−μ2-\mu is time, where μ\mu is order of the fractional derivative. We implement the method on various numerical examples in order to illustrate the accuracy of the method, and validation of the theoretical findings. In addition, as an application, the method is used to price several different European options such as the European call option, European put option, and European double barrier knock-out call option.Comment: 34 pages, 12 figure
