THE CORRELATION BETWEEN STUDENTS’ METACOGNITIVE KNOWLEDGE AND THEIR LISTENING COMPREHENSION AT VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL TELKOM PEKANBARU
This research was correlational research which was aimed to know whether
there was a correlation between students’ metacognitive knowledge and their
listening comprehension or not. Subject of the research was the students at eleventh
grade of SMK Telkom Pekanbaru and the object was correlation between students’
metacognitive knowledge and their listening comprehension. Population of the
research was 250 students and the sample of the research was 38 students which was
taken by using simple random sampling technique. To know the correlation between
both variable, the researcher used pearson product moment by using SPSS 23 version.
The result of the research showed that there was a significant correlation between
students’ metacognitive knowledge and their listening comprehension. It could be
seen as follows: score of coefficient correlation was 0.619 > 0.320 on standard
significant 5% and on standard significant 1% was 0.413. It indicated that Ha was
accepted which showed there was a significant correlation between students’
metacognitive knowledge and their listening comprehension. Sig. value (2-tailed) was
0.000 < 0.05, it indicated that there was a significant correlation between students’
metacognitive knowledge and their listening comprehension.
