Towards sustainability in European agricultural firms

European agricultural activity plays an important role in European and world food security through the agricultural production, supply and international trade. The main aim of this paper was analyses the agricultural sustainability of the twenty-nine Member States of the European Union in terms of economics, environmental, social and political activity. Information and data comes from FADN database from the European Commission. The methodology includes the min-max approach and multivariate methods, namely, Component Principal Analysis and Cluster analysis. The results confirm three groups of European countries, namely, the North and Central countries; the New Member States and the Mediterranean counties. The results also confirm that European agriculture firms and respective countries had a medium sustainability. The main conclusion highlines confirms the importance of the sustainability as a tool to better adjust agricultural policies among the European Member States.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio

Analysing the Trump and Brexit voters

This paper refers to two recent political phenomena: the Brexit, separation of the United Kingdom from the European Union, and the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States. It is important to note that the results on both occasions did not meet the expectations based on opinion polls, on one hand, and, on the other, seemed to be influenced by the adoption of populist attitudes by some of the people and parties involved. It is therefore necessary to deepen the knowledge about the two situations, their fundamentals and their outcomes. That is the objective of this paper. Exploring the relationship between ethical and sustainable consumption in short supply chains: A literature review

Sustainable development, sustainable consumption and short supply chains are nowadays acquiring increasing relevance in the literature. On the other hand, from the consumer's attitudinal statement, ethical consumption is also requiring more attention from marketing sciences. Besides that, the integration of the last concept on sustainability remains in a complete lack of systematic and integrative conceptualization. This paper tries to promote a potential integration of all the dimensions of sustainable consumption and to understand the potential linkage and interaction among them, in order to promote the Sustainable Development Goal 15 from the United Nations. The methodology follows a systematic literature review and preliminary information comes from a case study of the approved project SDGsConsum. The results confirm that, besides a huge development in sustainable development and sustainable consumption in the literature, the focus on shortly supply chains of production is yet modest. Efeito do zinco, boro, molibdênio e calagem na produção de soja-perene (Glycine javanica L.) cultivada em solos de cerrado, em condições de casa-de-vegetação.

Este trabalho foi conduzido em casa-de-vegetacao, com amostras de solos do municipio de Sete Lagoas, Estado de Minas Gerais. Foram coletadas amostras de solo: Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo e Latossolo Vermelho-Escuro, fase cerrado, de 0 a 20 cm de profundidade. Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar a resposta da soja-perene (Glycine javanica L.) variedade "Tinaroo", a aplicacao de zinco, boro molibdenio e calagem bem como observar a influencia da calagem na disponibilidade de alguns nutrientes. As plantas foram analisadas quanto aos testes totais de nitrogenio, fosforo, potassio, calcio, magnesio, zinco, boro e molibdenio
