TLBO-Based Adaptive Neurofuzzy Controller for Mobile Robot Navigation in a Strange Environment

    Get PDF
This work investigates the possibility of using a novel evolutionary based technique as a solution for the navigation problem of a mobile robot in a strange environment which is based on Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization. TLBO is employed to train the parameters of ANFIS structure for optimal trajectory and minimum travelling time to reach the goal. The obtained results using the suggested algorithm are validated by comparison with different results from other intelligent algorithms such as particle swarm optimization (PSO), invasive weed optimization (IWO), and biogeography-based optimization (BBO). At the end, the quality of the obtained results extracted from simulations affirms TLBO-based ANFIS as an efficient alternative method for solving the navigation problem of the mobile robot

Delay-Dependent Stability Analysis of TS Fuzzy Switched Time-Delay Systems

    Get PDF
This paper proposes a new approach to deal with the problem of stability under arbitrary switching of continuous-time switched time-delay systems represented by TS fuzzy models. The considered class of systems, initially described by delayed differential equations, is first put under a specific state space representation, called arrow form matrix. Then, by constructing a pseudo-overvaluing system, common to all fuzzy submodels and relative to a regular vector norm, we can obtain sufficient asymptotic stability conditions through the application of Borne and Gentina practical stability criterion. The stability criterion, hence obtained, is algebraic, is easy to use, and permits avoiding the problem of existence of a common Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, considered as a difficult task even for some low-order linear switched systems. Finally, three numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method

Cuckoo Search Approach for Parameter Identification of an Activated Sludge Process

    Get PDF
A parameter identification problem for a hybrid model is presented. The latter describes the operation of an activated sludge process used for waste water treatment. Parameter identification problem can be considered as an optimization one by minimizing the error between simulation and experimental data. One of the new and promising metaheuristic methods for solving similar mathematical problem is Cuckoo Search Algorithm. It is inspired by the parasitic brood behavior of cuckoo species. To confirm the effectiveness and the efficiency of the proposed algorithm, simulation results will be compared with other algorithms, firstly, with a classical method which is the Nelder-Mead algorithm and, secondly, with intelligent methods such as Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization approaches

New Discrete Tanaka Sugeno Kang Fuzzy Systems Characterization and Stability Domain

    Get PDF
In this paper, an analytical approach to characterize discrete Tanaka Sugeno Kang (TSK) fuzzy systems is presented. This characterization concerns the choice of the adequate conjunctive operator between input variables of discrete TSK fuzzy models, t-norm, and its impact on stability domain estimation. This new approach is based on stability conditions issued from vector norms corresponding to a vector-Lyapunov function. In particular, second order discrete TSK models are considered and this work concludes that Zadeh’s t-norm, logic product min, gives the largest estimation of stability domain

M-Matrix-Based Robust Stability and Stabilization Criteria for Uncertain Switched Nonlinear Systems with Multiple Time-Varying Delays

    No full text
This paper focuses on the robust stability and the memory feedback stabilization problems for a class of uncertain switched nonlinear systems with multiple time-varying delays. Especially, the considered time delays depend on the subsystem number. Based on a novel common Lyapunov functional, the aggregation techniques, and the Borne and Gentina criterion, new sufficient robust stability and stabilization conditions under arbitrary switching are established. Compared with existing results, the proposed criteria are explicit, simple to use, and obtained without finding a common Lyapunov function for all subsystems through linear matrix inequalities, considered very difficult in this situation. Moreover, compared with the memoryless one, the developed controller guarantees the robust stability of the corresponding closed-loop system with more performance by minimizing the effect of the delays in the system dynamics. Finally, two numerical simulation examples are shown to prove the practical utility and the effectiveness of the proposed theories

A Robust Watermarking Scheme Based on the Mean Modulation of DWT Coefficients

    No full text
In an endeavor to deal with image copyright infringement, robust watermarking approaches are commonly used. However, most of the existing approaches either present a limited robustness or rely on highly computational algorithms, thereby limiting the efficiency of these solutions. In this paper, a novel blind and robust watermarking method is presented. First, the vertical and horizontal subbands coefficients, resulting from the wavelet transformation, are scrambled using a chaotic sequence and then gathered into individual blocks. Next, the mean value of each block is modulated according to watermark bit. At the extraction stage, based on the sign of the blocks’ mean, a blind watermark extractor is suggested. The imperceptibility, security, complexity, and robustness of the proposed approach have been evaluated and compared with state of the art solutions. Experimental results prove that the proposed approach successfully satisfies the watermarking requirement and outperforms existing methods against both geometric and signal processing attacks

On Robust Stability Analysis of Uncertain Discrete-Time Switched Nonlinear Systems with Time Varying Delays

    No full text
This paper provides new sufficient conditions on robust asymptotic stability for a class of uncertain discrete-time switched nonlinear systems with time varying delays. The main focus will be dedicated to development of new algebraic criteria to break with classical criteria in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Firstly, by contracting a new common Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional as well as resorting to the M-matrix proprieties, a novel robust stability criterion under arbitrary switching signals is derived. Secondly, the obtained result is extended for a class of switched nonlinear systems modeled by a set of differences equations by applying the aggregation techniques, the norm vector notion, and the Borne-Gentina criterion. Furthermore, a generalization for switched nonlinear systems with multiple delays is proposed. The main contribution of this work is that the obtained stability conditions are algebraic and simple. In addition, they provide a solution of the most difficult problem in switched systems, which is stability under arbitrary switching, and enable avoiding searching a common Lyapunov function considered as a very difficult task even for some low-order linear switched systems. Finally, two examples are given, with numerical simulations, to show the merit and effectiveness of the proposed approach
