Not AvailableSix seed treatment agents viz. Thiram, Captan, Carboxin-Thiram combination, Pseudomonas fluorescence, Trichoderma viride and Azotobacter sp. formulations were evaluated against damping off of cauliflower caused by Pythium aphanidermatum and compared with an untreated control. All the treatments were effective in controlling the disease and increasing the yield. Captan 50WP emerged to be the best treatment followed by Thiram75 WS and Pseudomonas fluorescens formulations. Not Availabl

Not AvailableDamping off of chilli caused by Pythium aphanidermatum is one of the major problems leading to severe pre and post-emergence losses. Seed treatment with different chemical and bio-fungicides is effective in reducing the disease infection. In the present endeavour, out of the different seed treatment agents, Thiram, Captan, Pseudomonas fluroscens and Trichoderma viride gave good control against the disease. Not Availabl

CLOSED LOOP RF TUNING FOR SUPERCONDUCITNG CYCLOTRON AT VECC

The RF system of Superconducting cyclotron has been operational within 9 - 27 MHz frequency. It has three tunable half-wave coaxial cavities as main resonators and three tunable RF amplifier cavities. A PC-based system takes care of stepper motor driven coarse tuning of cavities with positional accuracy ~20μm and hydraulically driven three couplers and three trimmers. The couplers, in open loop, match the cavity impedance to 50 Ohm in order to feed power from RF amplifier. Trimmers operate in closed loop for fine tuning the cavity, if detuned thermally at high RF power. The control logic has been simulated and finally implemented with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Precision control of trimmer (~20μm) is essential to achieve the accelerating (Dee) voltage stability better than 100 ppm. and also minimizing the RF power to maintain it. Phase difference between Dee-in and Dee-pick-off signals and the reflected power signals (from cavity) together act in closed loop for fine tuning of the cavity. The closed loop PID control determines the final positioning of the trimmer in each power level and achieved the required voltage stability.IMP;Chinese Academy of Science

Wearables, Artificial intelligence, and the Future of Healthcare

Common underlying risk factors for chronic diseases include physical inactivity accompanying modern sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy eating habits, and tobacco use. Interestingly, these prominent risk factors fall under what is referred to as modifiable behavioral risk factors, emphasizing the importance of self-care to improve wellness and prevent the onset of many debilitating conditions. In that regard, advances in wearable devices capable of pervasively collecting data about oneself coupled with the analytic capability provided by artificial intelligence and machine learning can potentially upend how we care for ourselves. This chapter aims to assess the current state and future implications of using big data and artificial intelligence in wearables for health and wellbeing. The results of the systematic review capture key developments and emphasize the potential for leveraging AI and wearables for inducing a paradigm shift in improving health and wellbeing
