    Experimental and numerical prediction of extrusion load at different lubricating conditions of aluminium 6063 alloy in backward cup extrusion

    In the present research work using a backward cup extrusion (BCE) die profile, different lubricating conditions on aluminum alloy AA6063 have been experimentally and numerically investigated to predict the extrusion load. It was obvious that due to an increase in applications of the extrusion process, many researchers have worked on the extrusion process using different methods to achieve their aims. This experiment was conducted with three different lubricants namely: Castor oil, Palm Oil and tropical coconut oil; as well as without lubricants. Different lubricating conditions were employed of varying strain rates ranges from 1.5×10-3s-1, 2.0×10-3s-1, 2.5×10-3s-1, and 3.0×10-3s-1; Numerical analysis and simulation for dry and lubricated conditions during extrusion load were also performed using DEFORM 3D software. The results show that prediction extrusion load increases with increasing strain rates. The maximum extrusion load was found to be higher for extrusion without lubricants. In all cases of strain rate, palm oil showed a lower extrusion load compared to the other lubricants. Castor oil indicated the highest extrusion load when the experiment was carried out using lubrication. There was a consistent agreement between the result gotten from the experiment and simulation results of the extrusion load-strike curve.Peer reviewedFinal Published versio

    The immense freedom in the construction of Exact Renormalization Groups means that the many non-universal details of the formalism need never be exactly specified, instead satisfying only general constraints. In the context of a manifestly gauge invariant Exact Renormalization Group for SU(N) Yang-Mills, we outline a proof that, to all orders in perturbation theory, all explicit dependence of beta function coefficients on both the seed action and details of the covariantization cancels out.     Precision Measurement of Orthopositronium Decay Rate Using SiO_2 Powder

    The intrinsic decay rate of orthopositronium formed in SiO2{\rm SiO_2} powder is measured using the direct 2γ2\gamma correction method such that the time dependence of the pick-off annihilation rate is precisely determined using high energy-resolution germanium detectors. As a systematic test, two different types of SiO2{\rm SiO_2} powder are used with consistent findings. The intrinsic decay rate of orthopositronium is found to be 7.0396±0.0012(stat.)±0.0011(sys.)μs17.0396\pm0.0012 (stat.)\pm0.0011 (sys.)\mu s^{-1}, which is consistent with previous measurements using SiO2{\rm SiO_2} powder with about twice the accuracy. Results agree well with a recent O(α2)O(\alpha^2) QED prediction, varying 3.85.63.8-5.6 experimental standard deviations from other measurements.Comment: 16 pages, 7 figures included.     Geometric Quantization and Two Dimensional QCD

    In this article, we will discuss geometric quantization of 2d QCD with fermionic and bosonic matter fields. We identify the respective large-N_c phase spaces as the infinite dimensional Grassmannian and the infinite dimensional Disc. The Hamiltonians are quadratic functions, and the resulting equations of motion for these classical systems are nonlinear. In a previous publication, the first author has shown that the linearization of the equations of motion for the Grassmannian gave the `t Hooft equation. We will see that the linearization in the bosonic case leads to the scalar analog of the `t Hooft equation found by Tomaras.Comment: 46 pages, Latex, no figure

    Sleep patterns of Japanese preschool children and their parents: implications for co-sleeping

    Abstract Aim The aim of this study was to investigate the direct relationship of sleep schedule and sleep quality variables between healthy preschool children and their parents, focusing on the influence of the difference in bedtime between each other. Methods Forty-seven Japanese 5-year-old children and their primary parent were studied. The parents completed questionnaires including the Epworth Sleepiness Scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. The children wore an actigraph for one week. Results Although sleep patterns of children were generally independent of their parents, late sleep end time and bedtime of children were associated with parents' late sleep end time on weekends. For 87% of children and parents who shared a bedroom, sleep quality was negatively affected by a shorter difference in bedtimes between child and parent, but not by co-sleeping. Conclusion Sleep behaviours of parents can influence those of their children. For parents and children who share a bedroom, the timing of bedtime rather than co-sleeping may be a key factor in modulating sleep patterns. Trying to get children asleep and subsequently falling asleep at a similar time may disturb parents' sleep quality, which may subsequently affect that of their children
