Vectorial characterization of Bloch surface wave via one-dimensional photonic-atomic structure

Full text link
Use of hot atomic vapor as a new tool for tracing the complex nature of light has become a knowledge-based topic in recent years. In this paper, we examine the polarization ellipse of the Bloch surface wave (BSW) through the effect of a magnetic field on the coupling of these surface waves in BSW-hot atomic vapor cell. For this purpose, we fabricate a one-dimensional photonic crystal-based Bloch wave atom cell, where under different configurations of magnetic field, polarization ellipse of Bloch surface waves has been recorded experimentally. Our results indicate that by applying the magnetic field in different directions, Faraday and Voigt, the characteristics of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT-like) of hybrid system change. We have used these changes to redefine the geometry of Voigt and Faraday for evanescent waves, as well as to measure the ratio of the components of the elliptical polarized electric field. These characterizations can open new insight into the miniaturized atomic field in high quality and low volumetric areas

The study of energy conservation using the head exchanger with different fin shapes havebeen carried out, including research on the counter flow heat exchanger using a helical spiral shaped fin is placed on the inner pipe. The problem lies in the acquisition of the influence of the diameter of the helical fin to the characteristic of performance counter flow heat exchanger. The diameter of the helical fin which the test is 8 mm, 12 mm and 16 mm. The objective is achieved, the effect of the diameter of the helical fin characteristic of performance counter flow heat exchanger in the increase of hot water discharge 400 liters / hour, 500 liters / hour, 600 liters /hour, 700 liters / hour, 800 liters / hr and 900 liters / hour. Method of design of experiments with laboratory-scale experiments using a set-up equipment double tube heat exchanger is the method used. The results obtained, the highest effectiveness for all types of helical fins foundon discharge 400 liters / h with the order from highest to lower the effectiveness of internal diameter of 12 mm reached 17.66%, diameter of 8 mm effectiveness reaches 15:56% and the internal diameter of 16 mm effectiveness of achieving 14.29%. In this study, Aloe vera extract was used to evaluate its effects on hematological and immune parameters of Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii). A total of 360 Siberian sturgeon weighing on average 10.95±0.04 g were randomly distributed in four treatments including a control group and three experimental groups (each with three replications). A. vera extract powder at the rate of 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% were added to the food. The fish were fed for 60 days in fiberglass tanks. At the end of the first and second months of breeding, the necessary samplings for hematological studies were done. The physicochemical parameters of water were recorded every day. The results showed significant differences (p<0.05) in the amount of RBC, hemoglobin, MCV, WBC, lysozyme and ACH50 in the treatments compared to the control group at the end of the breeding period. The results showed that A. vera extract has the effect of a non-specific immune system booster and using the extract in particular at the level of 1.5% as an immune stimulant in the diet of Siberian sturgeon can be effective in preventing disease in this species

Regarding the beneficial effects and benefits of the herb Aloe vera and its application in various industries such as pharmaceuticals and food industries, this study investigated the effects of Aloe vera extract on growth parameters and bacterial flora of the Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii). In this study, a total of 360 numbers of Siberian sturgeon weighted average 10.95±0.04 (g) randomly distributed in four treatments including a control group and three experimental groups (each with three replications) were used. So, Aloe Vera extract powder ratio of 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% were added to the food. After eight weeks of feeding in the fiberglass vans and physicochemical parameters of water daily registration, biometry carried out and necessary samples collected. In this study, growth indicators such as weight gain, initial body weight, condition factor, feed conversion ratio, specific growth rate, protein efficiency ratio, hepatosomatic index and survival rate were calculated. Results showed that all growth parameters (except hepatosomatic index) in the treatments compared to the control group showed statistically significant differences as a significant difference between the control group treated 1.5% extract were observed (p0.05). Meanwhile, total count of bacteria in intestine in the treatment and control groups did not show significant differences (p>0.05), but significant increase in the count of anaerobic bacteria (lactic acid bacteria) were observed compared to the control group (p<0.05). The result showed that Aloe vera extract can be effective in improving the growth performance of Siberian sturgeon

Examining the cancellation mechanism of neutron EDM in a model with dilaton-dominated susy breaking

Full text link
We examine the cancellation mechanism between the different contributions to the electric dipole moment of the neutron in a model with dilaton-dominated SUSY breaking. We find these accidental cancellations occur at few points in parameter space. For a wide region of this space we must constrain the phase of μ\mu to be of order 10−110^{-1} and have the phases of AA and μ\mu strongly correlated in order to have small neutron EDM. Moreover, we consider the indirect CP violation parameter ϵ\epsilon in this region where the electric dipole moment is less than the experimental limit and find that we can generate ϵ\epsilon of order 10−610^{-6}

First detection of the adventive egg parasitoid of Halyomorpha halys (Stål) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) Trissolcus mitsukurii (Ashmead) (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) in France

SIMPLE SUMMARY: The invasive brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB), Halyomorpha halys, is a polyphagous species and a serious pest worldwide. Classical biological control (CBC), i.e., the introduction of a natural enemy from the native area of the pest, is considered as the preferential solution for BMSB regulation. Adventive populations of exotic egg parasitoids of BSMB, Trissolcus japonicus and T. mitsukurii, have been reported worldwide. With the aim to characterize the French diversity of egg parasitoids associated to various stink bugs including BMSB, field surveys were conducted between 2018 and 2020. Surprisingly, morphological and molecular analyses unambiguously revealed 12 specimens of T. mitsukurii, an Asian egg parasitoid of BSMB. Although its permanent establishment has to be confirmed, this first record in France could actually facilitate CBC initiatives, T. mitsukurii being considered with T. japonicus as the two most promising biological control agents against BMSB. ABSTRACT: We report the first detection of Trissolcus mitsukurii in France. More than 1860 sentinel egg masses of Halyomorpha halys (BMSB) were exposed in the field during the 2018–2020 period, and 12 specimens of T. mitsukurii emerged from one egg mass. Their taxonomic identification was confirmed both by morphological and molecular analysis. Trissolcus mitsukurii, similar to T. japonicus, is an egg parasitoid of BMSB in its area of origin in Asia, and both species are considered to be candidates for a classical biological control strategy against BMSB. Trissolcus mitsukurii was previously recorded in Italy where it is well established and widespread, and this may be the source of the French population. Possible permanent establishment and dispersion of T. mitsukurii in France should be monitored with emphasis on its potential effect on BMSB populations
