Neutrino-induced deuteron disintegration experiment
Cross sections for the disintegration of the deuteron via neutral-current
(NCD) and charged-current (CCD) interactions with reactor antineutrinos are
measured to be 6.08 +/- 0.77 x 10^(-45) cm-sq and 9.83 +/- 2.04 x 10^(-45)
cm-sq per neutrino, respectively, in excellent agreement with current
calculations. Since the experimental NCD value depends upon the CCD value, if
we use the theoretical value for the CCD reaction, we obtain the improved value
of 5.98 +/- 0.54 x 10^(-45) for the NCD cross section. The neutral-current
reaction allows a unique measurement of the isovector-axial vector coupling
constant in the hadronic weak interaction (beta). In the standard model, this
constant is predicted to be exactly 1, independent of the Weinberg angle. We
measure a value of beta^2 = 1.01 +/- 0.16. Using the above improved value for
the NCD cross section, beta^2 becomes 0.99 +/- 0.10.Comment: 22pages, 9 figure
Majorana Neutrinos and Gravitational Oscillation
We analyze the possibility of encountering resonant transitions of high
energy Majorana neutrinos produced in Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN). We consider
gravitational, electromagnetic and matter effects and show that the latter are
ignorable. Resonant oscillations due to the gravitational interactions are
shown to occur at energies in the PeV range for magnetic moments in the
range. Coherent precession will dominate for larger magnetic
moments. The alllowed regions for gravitational resonant transitions are
obtained.Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures, Latex; requires revtex and epsf.tex submitted to

Solar neutrino measurements in Super-Kamiokande-I
The details of Super--Kamiokande--I's solar neutrino analysis are given.
Solar neutrino measurement in Super--Kamiokande is a high statistics collection
of B solar neutrinos via neutrino-electron scattering. The analysis method
and results of the 1496 day data sample are presented. The final oscillation
results for the data are also presented.Comment: 32pages, 57figures, submitted to Physical Review
Serious fungal infections in Thailand
The burden of serious fungal infection in Thailand is increasing but data regarding its incidence and prevalence are lacking. In this study we aimed to estimate the burden of serious fungal diseases in Thailand based on the size of the populations at risk and available epidemiological databases. Data derived from The Bureau of Epidemiology, Department of Disease Control, Thai Ministry of Public Health, World Health Organisation, international and local reports, and some unreported data were used. When no data existed, risk populations were used to estimate frequencies of fungal infections, using previously described methodology by LIFE. Recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (>4 episodes per year) is estimated to occur in 3,310 per 100,000 population. Using a previously described rate that 14/10,000 admissions are with fungaemia and 94% of those are Candida, we estimated 8,650 patients with candidaemia. The prevalence of chronic pulmonary aspergillosis is relatively high with a total of 19,044, approximately half subsequent to pulmonary tuberculosis. Invasive aspergillosis is estimated to affect 941 patients following leukaemia therapy, transplantations, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, approximately 1.4/100,000. In addition, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis and severe asthma with fungal sensitisation were estimated at approximately 58.4/100,000 and 77/100,000, respectively. Given approximately 8,134 new cases of AIDS annually, cryptococcal meningitis, Pneumocystis pneumonia, and Talaromyces marneffei infection are estimated at 1.9/100,000, 2.6/100,000, and 0.3/100,000, respectively. The present study indicates that about 1.93% (1,254,562) of the population is affected by serious fungal infections. Owing to the lack of data, reports, and statistics, the number of patients with mycoses in Thailand can only be estimated
Study of Non-Standard Neutrino Interactions with Atmospheric Neutrino Data in Super-Kamiokande I and II
In this paper we study non-standard neutrino interactions as an example of
physics beyond the standard model using atmospheric neutrino data collected
during the Super-Kamiokande I(1996-2001) and II(2003-2005) periods. We focus on
flavor-changing-neutral-currents (FCNC), which allow neutrino flavor
transitions via neutral current interactions, and effects which violate lepton
non-universality (NU) and give rise to different neutral-current
interaction-amplitudes for different neutrino flavors. We obtain a limit on the
FCNC coupling parameter, varepsilon_{mu tau}, |varepsilon_{mu tau}|<1.1 x
10^{-2} at 90%C.L. and various constraints on other FCNC parameters as a
function of the NU coupling, varepsilon_{e e}. We find no evidence of
non-standard neutrino interactions in the Super-Kamiokande atmospheric data.Comment: 12 Pages, 14 figures. To be submitted to Phys. Rev.
Evidence for an oscillatory signature in atmospheric neutrino oscillation
Muon neutrino disappearance probability as a function of neutrino flight
length L over neutrino energy E was studied. A dip in the L/E distribution was
observed in the data, as predicted from the sinusoidal flavor transition
probability of neutrino oscillation. The observed L/E distribution constrained
nu_mu nu_tau neutrino oscillation parameters; 1.9x10^-3 < Delta m^2 <
3.0x10^-3 eV^2 and \sin^2(2theta) > 0.90 at 90% confidence level.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures, submitted to PR
Three flavor neutrino oscillation analysis of atmospheric neutrinos in Super-Kamiokande
We report on the results of a three-flavor oscillation analysis using
Super-Kamiokande~I atmospheric neutrino data, with the assumption of one mass
scale dominance (0). No significant flux change due to
matter effect, which occurs when neutrinos propagate inside the Earth for
0, has been seen either in a multi-GeV -rich sample
or in a -rich sample. Both normal and inverted mass hierarchy
hypotheses are tested and both are consistent with observation. Using
Super-Kamiokande data only, 2-dimensional 90 % confidence allowed regions are
obtained: mixing angles are constrained to and for the normal mass hierarchy. Weaker constraints,
and , are obtained
for the inverted mass hierarchy case.Comment: 7 figures, 3 table
