Kannada Character Recognition System A Review

Intensive research has been done on optical character recognition ocr and a large number of articles have been published on this topic during the last few decades. Many commercial OCR systems are now available in the market, but most of these systems work for Roman, Chinese, Japanese and Arabic characters. There are no sufficient number of works on Indian language character recognition especially Kannada script among 12 major scripts in India. This paper presents a review of existing work on printed Kannada script and their results. The characteristics of Kannada script and Kannada Character Recognition System kcr are discussed in detail. Finally fusion at the classifier level is proposed to increase the recognition accuracy.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figure

    Myxoid Neurothekeoma of the Nipple

    Get PDF
Neurothekeomas are rare benign cutaneous neoplasms of nerve sheath origin. They are primarily found in the superficial soft tissue and are also known as dermal nerve sheath myxomas. They are commonly found on the upper extremities, head and neck followed by trunk. Here is an unusual presentation of neurothekeoma occurring as a polypoidal lesion of the nipple in a young female patient

Primary Cutaneous Low Grade Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of Eyelid

Primary cutaneous mucinous adenocarcinoma is a rare adnexal neoplasm, eyelid being the most common site of presentation. Clinically it is mistaken for a benign / cystic lesion. Its morphologic similarity to metastatic deposits from breast, gastrointestinal tract (GIT) or any visceral sites adds to the diagnostic difficulty mandating the role of ancillary techniques in precise diagnosis and hence planning the management. We report a case of primary cutaneous mucinous adenocarcinoma of eyelid with emphasis on pathology along with a brief review of literature

An unusual bilateral variation of musculocutaneous nerve.

Musculocutaneous nerve arises from the lateral cord (C5,6,7) of brachial plexus. Communications between the branches of brachial plexus are not so common. During routine dissection, we observed bilateral variation in 60-year-old female cadaver. In the present case, median nerve represented as a musculocutaneous nerve which supplied biceps brachii and brachialis, further continued into forearm as lateral cutaneous nerve of forearm on the right arm. This branch did not pass through coracobrachialis muscle but the coracobrachialis was innervated by a branch from lateral cord of brachial plexus. We also observed an abnormal communicating branch between the musculocutaneous and median nerve on left side of the arm. These kinds of variations are important for surgeons while performing surgeries of axilla and upperlimb

A REVIEW ON LIQUID CRYSTALLINE NANOPARTICLES (CUBOSOMES): EMERGING NANOPARTICULATE DRUG CARRIER

    Get PDF
Cubosomes are novel biocompatible drug delivery system and have honeycombed (cavernous) structures whose diameter size range from 10–500 nm. They appear like dots, which are likely to be spherical structures. Each dot corresponds to the presence of a pore containing aqueous cubic phase in the lipid water system. Cubosomes posse’s great significance in the field of cosmeceuticals and Pharmaceuticals due to its unique features and become an attractive choice of vehicle for in vivo drug delivery due to their low cost, safety, efficacy and versatility for controlled release application and functionalization. Cubosomes have a very simple method of preparation; biodegradability of selected lipids has the capability to encapsulate hydrophobic and hydrophilic substances. Cubosomes are considered to be versatile systems, and prepared cubosomes can be administrated by different ways such as oral, percutaneous and parenteral routes. On the whole, cubosomes offer high consequence in nano-based drug preparations for melanoma (skin cancer) treatment, targeted drug delivery systems and comprise a wide range of applications in many areas and are characterized by various parameters. Consequently, cubosomes are in progress forward of awareness in the Pharmaceutical division. This review article mainly focuses on the methods of preparation, advantages, and applications of cubosomes

Standardization of NPK Requirement in Banana Cv. "Njalipoovan" (Musa AB Group) in Onattukara Soil of South Kerala

Banana cv. "Njalipoovan" (Musa AB group, Syn. Ney Poovan) is one of the popular varieties cultivated in the homesteads of Kerala. This variety has high export potential due to its edible and keeping quality. Eventhough fertilizer requirement was worked out for different varieties; no attempt has been made to standardize the nutrient requirement of banana cv. "Njalippovan", especially in the loamy sand soils of Onattukara. Field experiments were conducted for two years (1998-2000) at Onattukara Regional Agricultural Research Station, Kayamkulam to study the influence of three levels each of N (100, 200 and 300 g plant-1), P2O5 (100, 200 and 300 g plant-1) and K2O (200,400 and 600 g plant-1) with one absolute control (nopoko) on growth, yield, quality and economics of cultivation. Increasing the rate of application of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium improved the growth and yield. Total soluble solids (TSS), total sugars and reducing sugars increased with increasing levels of nitrogen and potassium. Fruit acidity decreased at higher rate of N and K2O. Applied phosphorus had no effect on quality of fruits. Application of N, P2O5 and K2O at 200:200:400 g plant-1 proved to be ideal for maintaining higher yield and benefit: cost ratio
