    Evaluation of Hybrids and Cultivars of Single type Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa)

    Hybrids and cultivars of single type tuberose was evaluated to fulfill the need to develop new hybrids as demanded by commercial growers. Evaluation of fifteen genotypes showed significant variation in growth, floral and bulb characters. Cultivar Arka Prajwal was significantly superior over all genotypes, which recorded least number of days for opening of 1st floret (78.55 days) with maximum diameter of spike (1.18 cm), length of floret (6.05 cm), weight of individual floret (3.12 g) and weight of spike (121.43 g).The hybrid genotype L1P4 (Variegated X Phule Rajani) was observed to be superior in terms of rachis length (39.78 cm), inter-nodal length (7.25 cm), length of bulb (8.09 cm), diameter of bulb (3.76 cm) and diameter of bulb-lets (1.85 cm). Among the hybrid genotypes L1P4 also recorded maximum plant height (116.39 cm), spike length (109.58 cm), weight of cut spike (105.08 g) and vase life (11.00 days). However, it was foundto be at par for number of florets per spike (57.25), length of floret (5.92 cm) and number of spikes per clump (10.14) with all other cultivars and hybrids tested. From the overall performance, it was found that the cultivar Arka Prajwal was the best. Genotype L1P4 found promising for loose as well as cut flower production because of its number of florets, inter-nodal length and spikes per clump which are important characters considering loose flower for taking maximum number of pickings. However, characters such as rachis length, spike length, vase life and weight of spike which are imperative for cut flowers are also noted superior in genotype L1P4

    Biometric is the science and technology of measuring and analyzing biological data of human body, extracting a feature set from the acquired data and comparing this set against the template set in the database. In this paper, Recognition through fusion of face and iris biometric images based on wavelet features and Kernel Fisher Discriminant Analysis (KFDA) is developed. Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) of face and iris image is used to reduce the dimensions which help to prevent from requirement of storage space of database. Nearest Neighbour classifier is selected to assign class to its nearest neighbour. Then, nonlinear original input space can be converted through a nonlinear map function into a linear high-dimensional feature space with the use of KFDA

The burning of fossil fuel produces 21.3 billion tons of CO2 per year and that are very hazardous for human existence on earth. By using renewable energy sources, we are able to overcome that problem. Due to absence of risk and disasters Renewable energy is always consult as reliable source. In this regard, various policies were prepared to encourage citizens for use of renewable source. Citizens were able to installed small wind mill for domestic purpose. It has one-time capital investment after that we can consume that energy or can connect to grid also. In this paper, we discuss about energy generation for home appliances from small windmill.     ABSTRACTObjective: This study was undertaken to investigate diuretic and laxative potency of Leucas aspera whole plant.Methods: The dried whole plant (leaves, stems, and flowers) material was subjected to extraction by continuous hot percolation method. Inevaluation of diuretic activity male albino rats were used as the experimental animals. The first group of animals, serving as control, received normalsaline (25 ml/kg, post-operative); the second group received furosemide (10 mg/kg, post-operative) in saline. Other groups received doses of extract(200-400 mg/kg) in normal saline. The parameters determined were total urine volume, the concentration of Na(chloride) in the urine. Na+ and K+ concentrations were determined by flame photometer, and Cl−+(sodium), K concentration was estimated by titrimetric method.Laxative activity was also studied using male albino rats. The animal groups were administered orally either with vehicle (1% Tween-80 solution innormal saline, 25 ml/kg), reference standard drug, agar-agar (300 mg/kg, post-operative) in saline or doses of extract (200-400 mg/kg). After 8 h ofdrug treatment, the feces were collected and weighed.Results: This study revealed that L. aspera whole plant extracts possesses significant diuretic and laxative activity in comparison with the standarddrugs. The activity may be due to the chemical constituent present in the plant parts.
