Effects of local event-by-event conservation laws in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions at particlization
Many simulations of relativistic heavy-ion collisions involve the switching from relativistic hydrodynamics to kinetic particle transport. This switching entails the sampling of particles from the distribution of energy, momentum, and conserved currents provided by hydrodynamics. Usually, this sampling ensures the conservation of these quantities only on the average, i.e., the conserved quantities may actually fluctuate among the sampled particle configurations and only their averages over many such configurations agree with their values from hydrodynamics. Here we apply a recently invented method [D. Oliinychenko and V. Koch, Phys. Rev. Lett. 123, 182302 (2019)PRLTAO0031-900710.1103/PhysRevLett.123.182302] to ensure conservation laws for each sampled configuration in spatially compact regions (patches) and study their effects: From the well-known (micro-)canonical suppression of means and variances to little studied (micro-)canonical correlations and higher-order fluctuations. Most of these effects are sensitive to the patch size. Many of them do not disappear even in the thermodynamic limit, when the patch size goes to infinity. The developed method is essential for particlization of stochastic hydrodynamics. It is useful for studying the chiral magnetic effect, small systems, and in general for fluctuation and correlation observables
Event-by-event fluctuations and the QGP
We discuss the physics underlying event-by-event fluctuations in relativistic
heavy ion collisions. We will emphasize how the fluctuations of particle ratios
can be utilized to explore the properties of the matter created in these
collisions. In particular, we will argue that the fluctutions of the ratio of
positively over negatively charged particles may serve as a unique signature

Searching for the QCD Critical Point Using Particle Ratio Fluctuations and Higher Moments of Multiplicity Distributions
Dynamical fluctuations in global conserved quantities such as baryon number,
strangeness, or charge may be observed near a QCD critical point. Results from
new measurements of dynamical , , and ratio fluctuations
are presented. The commencing of a QCD critical point search at RHIC has
extended the reach of possible measurements of dynamical , , and
ratio fluctuations from Au+Au collisions to lower energies. The STAR
experiment has performed a comprehensive study of the energy dependence of
these dynamical fluctuations in Au+Au collisions at the energies
= 7.7, 11.5, 39, 62.4, and 200 GeV. New results are compared to
previous measurements and to theoretical predictions from several models. The
measured dynamical fluctuations are found to be independent of
collision energy, while dynamical and fluctuations have a
negative value that increases toward zero at top RHIC energy. Fluctuations of
the higher moments of conserved quantities (net-proton and net-charge)
distributions, which are predicted to be sensitive to the presence of a

Do Alternative Therapies Have a Role in Autism?
Interventions considered to be branches of Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM) for autism are on the rise. Many new treatments have emerged & traditional beliefs of Ayurveda, Yoga, Behavioral therapy, Speech therapy and Homoeopathy have gained popularity and advocacy among parents. It is imperative that data supporting new treatments should be scrutinized for scientific study design, clinical safety, and scientific validity, before embarking on them as modes of therapy. Practitioners take care in explaining the rationale behind the various approaches that they practice, it is important to indicate possible limitations too during the initial clinical examination and interactive session. Clinicians must remember that parents may have different beliefs regarding the effectiveness of treatment since their information is derived more from the ‘hear-say’ route when they compare benefits/effects of CAM therapies on other children and often underestimate differential tolerance for treatment risks. It is thus significant that practitioners do not assume a "don't ask, don't tell" posture. The scientific validation and support for many interventions is incomplete and very different from the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics Policy Statement. On the temperature dependence of correlation functions in the space like direction in hot QCD
We study the temperature dependence of quark antiquark correlations in the
space like direction. In particular, we predict the temperature dependence of
space like Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes using recent Lattice gauge data for the
space like string potential. We also investigate the effect of the space like
string potential on the screening mass and discuss possible corrections which

Non-equilibrium dynamics in the dual-wavelength operation of Vertical external-cavity surface-emitting lasers
Microscopic many-body theory coupled to Maxwell's equation is used to
investigate dual-wavelength operation in vertical external-cavity
surface-emitting lasers. The intrinsically dynamic nature of coexisting
emission wavelengths in semiconductor lasers is associated with characteristic
non-equilibrium carrier dynamics which causes significant deformations of the
quasi-equilibrium gain and carrier inversion. Extended numerical simulations
are employed to efficiently investigate the parameter space to identify the
regime for two-wavelength operation. Using a frequency selective intracavity
etalon, two families of modes are stabilized with dynamical interchange of the
strongest emission peaks. For this operation mode, anti-correlated intensity
noise is observed in agreement with the experiment. A method using effective
frequency selective filtering is suggested for stabilization genuine
dual-wavelength output.Comment: 15 pages, 7 figure
Measures of Charge Fluctuations in Nuclear Collisions
The properties of two measures of charge fluctuations D and Delta Phi_q are
discussed within several toy models of nuclear collisions. In particular their
dependence on mean particle multiplicity, multiplicity fluctuations and net
electric charge are studied. It is shown that the measure Delta Phi_q is less
sensitive to these trivial biasing effects than the originally proposed measure
D. Furthermore the influence of resonance decay kinematics is analysed and it
is shown that it is likely to shadow a possible reduction of fluctuations due

Assessment of Metabolic Parameters For Autism Spectrum Disorders
Autism is a brain development disorder that first appears during infancy or childhood, and generally follows a steady course without remission. Impairments result from maturation-related changes in various systems of the brain. Autism is one of the five pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), which are characterized by widespread abnormalities of social interactions and communication, and severely restricted interests and highly repetitive behavior. The reported incidence of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) has increased markedly over the past decade. The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has recently estimated the prevalence of ASDs in the United States at approximately 5.6 per 1000 (1 of 155 to 1 of 160) children. Several metabolic defects, such as phenylketonuria, are associated with autistic symptoms. In deciding upon the appropriate evaluation scheme a clinician must consider a host of different factors. The guidelines in this article have been developed to assist the clinician in the consideration of these factors
