A novel fluorescent "turn-on" chemosensor for nanomolar detection of Fe(III) from aqueous solution and its application in living cells imaging

    Get PDF
An electronically active and spectral sensitive fluorescent “turn-on” chemosensor (BTP-1) based on the benzo-thiazolo-pyrimidine unit was designed and synthesized for the highly selective and sensitive detection of Fe³⁺ from aqueous medium. With Fe³⁺, the sensor BTP-1 showed a remarkable fluorescence enhancement at 554 nm (λex=314 nm) due to the inhibition of photo-induced electron transfer. The sensor formed a host-guest complex in 1:1 stoichiometry with the detection limit down to 0.74 nM. Further, the sensor was successfully utilized for the qualitative and quantitative intracellular detection of Fe³⁺ in two liver cell lines i.e., HepG2 cells (human hepatocellular liver carcinoma cell line) and HL-7701 cells (human normal liver cell line) by a confocal imaging technique

The present study was undertaken with the objective to standardise procedures for preparation of semolina (rava) from sorghum, to identify the best genotype for preparation of semolina and to study the nutritional quality parameters of semolina. For processing of sorghum, ten varieties and five hybrids were used for preparation of semolina and their products. A process has been standardized for semolina preparation using ultra grinding mill from sorghum grain. The semolina yield ranged from 46.51% to 54.29%. Hybrid CSH-15R gave the highest yield of semolina (54.29%). Starch content in semolina ranged from 59.93% to 66.43%. The new genotypes Phule Vasudha, Phule Yashoda and M 35-1 showed higher levels of starch content as compared to the other genotypes. The Phule Vasudha and Selection-3 showed higher levels of total soluble sugars in grains, as well as in semolina than the other genotypes. Phule Maulee gave higher level of crude fibre content (3.12%). The amino acid profile of sorghum grain and semolina showed very minor differences in the content due to the processing of sorghum grains into various products like semolina. The new genotypes of rabi sorghum showed comparable results for the mineral with that of hybrids. The organoleptic properties of the sweet (shira), upama and idali prepared from semolina were judged on the basis of colour, texture and appearance, flavour, taste and overall acceptability of the products using semi-trained judges and 1 to 9 hedonic scales. All products prepared from semolina were like very much and gave highest rating of more than 8 hedonic scales. While considering the yield of semolina from sorghum grains as well as their nutritional composition and organoleptic properties of the niche products (shira, upama, idali) prepared from them, the varieties Phule Vasudha and Phule Yashoda were the best one as compared to the other varieties and hybrids and overall varieties were better than the hybrids

Efficient Computer Forensic Analysis Using Machine Learning Approaches

In this digital era, the number of Cybercrimes is increasing that has resulted in increased number of pending cybercrimes cases such as artifacts as a malware, hacking and cyber fraud or e-harassment. In order to deal with these cases, digital forensics must include the concrete law enforcement in the court of law. In digital forensics, it is challenging task to detect reliable evidence because of worldwide use and advancements in digital communication technologies. Common approaches such as file signature analysis and the data carving can be done using the forensics tools, however, digital evidence examiners are keen to find the relevant data which helps in finding the truth behind the case. To reduce the examination time in the data examination or analysis process, this paper explores the role of unsupervised pattern recognition to identify the notable artefact. The Self-Organising Map (SOM) is used to automatically cluster notable artefacts. In this work, four cases are presented to demonstrate the use of SOM in examining the digital data saved in a CSV format. Multiple SOMs are created including Extension Mismatch SOM that represents the intentional changes done on the default extension of the file in order to hide it from the forensic examiner. Other types of SOM are created for the EXIF Metadata (i.e. MAC attributes). USB Device Attached (Device Make, Device Model, Device ID, Date/Time, Source File, Tags)

Agro-waste valorization for sustainable economy of sugar mills in India

    Get PDF
Indian sugar mills produce a large volume of agro-waste sugar cane bagasse (SCB), which, due to its improper use, causes environmental issues. Contrastingly, the valorization of SCB by integrating advanced technologies for biochemical production can alleviate waste disposal problems, enhance resource utilization, and promote a circular economy. The present review explores recent advances in SCB-derived valuable biochemicals such as bioethanol, biogas, xylitol, carboxylic acids, 2,3-butanediol, and furfural using advanced pretreatment techniques and engineered strains. Furthermore, it discusses the challenges and opportunities in bio-chemical production, the economic and environmental assessment, and the implications of the Government of India’s (GOI) valuable schemes for agro-waste valorization

Nutritional and Roti Quality of Sorghum Genotypes

Sorghum grains are mostly used for the roti preparation. The M 35-1 (Maldhandi) a sorghum cultivar is known for its good quality of roti due to having pearly white grain color, its flour having higher water holding capacity, and good organoleptic taste. However, this cultivar is low yielder. To evolve sorghum high yielding genotype coupled with this good roti qualities, systematic breeding program was planned and executed to overcome this problem. Twenty local land races, 92 genotypes, and seven improved cultivars of sorghum along with check M 35-1 were studied for various nutritional quality parameters, with special reference to the roti quality. Considering nutritional quality and organoleptic evaluation parameters studied for roti quality, the local land races viz., RSLG 428-1, RSLG 1238, RSLG 1275 and the genotypes viz., RSV 290, RSV 292, RSV 858, RSV 859, RSV 861, RSV 868, RSV 894, RSV 985, RSV 992, RSV 995, RSV 999 were found to be promising for protein, sugar, water absorption, and soluble protein content. Therefore, they can be used for further improvement in nutritional quality through breeding program. Among the improved cultivars, Phule Vasudha (RSV 423), CSV 22, and Phule Chitra (SPV 1546) werefound to be most promising for roti quality. The maximum score for overall acceptability was found for Phule Vasudha followed by Phule Anuradha (RSV 458), Phule Yeshoda (RSLG 262), and Phule Maulee (CSV 216)

A biodegradable nanoparticle has been used frequently as drug delivery carrier due to its better encapsulation capacity, sustained/ control release property and less toxicity. Gliclazide (GLZ) is a second generation of hypoglycemic sulfonylurea and acts selectively on pancreatic ß cell to control diabetes mellitus. The objective of this study was to produce controlled release nanoparticles of Gliclazide using poly (L-lactide-co-ε-caprolactone) (PLCL). The method was optimized using design of experiments by employing a 3-factor, 3-level Design Expert (version 8.0.7.1) Statistical Design Software and was subjected to various characterization studies including Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Encapsulation efficiency (%EE), Particle Size Distribution (PSD), etc. Formulated nanoparticles were also subjected to Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) for studying interaction between drug and polymer and the effect of lyophilization (Freeze Drying) on developed nanoparticles.  The release profiles and encapsulation efficiencies are depended on the concentration of PLCL. These data demonstrated the efficacy of the biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles in controlling the gliclazide drug release profile as novel drug delivery system
