    DALICA: intelligent agents for user profile deduction.

    In this paper we are going to discuss the potential contributions that agent technology can bring into an Ambient Intelligence scenario, related to the fruition of cultural assets. The users are located in an area which is known to the agents: in the application, the users are the visitors of Villa Adriana, an archaeological site in Tivoli, near Rome (Italy). Agents are aware of user moves by means of Galileo satellite signal, i.e., the proposed application is based on a blend of different technologies. The agents, developed in the DALI logic programming language, pro-actively learn and/or enhance users profiles and are thus capable to competently assist the users during their visit, to elicit habits and preferences and to propose cultural assets to the users according to the learned profile

    Bipolaron Density-Wave Driven By Antiferromagnetic Correlations and Frustration in Organic Superconductors

    We describe the Paired Electron Crystal (PEC) which occurs in the interacting frustrated two-dimensional 1/4-filled band. The PEC is a charge-ordered state with nearest-neighbor spin singlets separated by pairs of vacant sites, and can be thought of as a bipolaron density wave. The PEC has been experimentally observed in the insulating state proximate to superconductivity in the organic charge-transfer solids. Increased frustration drives a PEC-to-superconductor transition in these systems.Comment: submitted to Physica B special issue for ISCOM 200

    Variational Monte Carlo Study of Spin-Gapped Normal State and BCS-BEC Crossover in Two-Dimensional Attractive Hubbard Model

    We study properties of normal, superconducting (SC) and CDW states for an attractive Hubbard model on the square lattice, using a variational Monte Carlo method. In trial wave functions, we introduce an interspinon binding factor, indispensable to induce a spin-gap transition in the normal state, in addition to the onsite attractive and intersite repulsive factors. It is found that, in the normal state, as the interaction strength U/t|U|/t increases, a first-order spin-gap transition arises at UcW|U_{\rm c}|\sim W (WW: band width) from a Fermi liquid to a spin-gapped state, which is conductive through hopping of doublons. In the SC state, we confirm by analysis of various quantities that the mechanism of superconductivity undergoes a smooth crossover at around |U_{\ma{co}}|\sim |U_{\rm c}| from a BCS type to a Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) type, as U/t|U|/t increases. For |U|<|U_{\ma{co}}|, quantities such as the condensation energy, a SC correlation function and the condensate fraction of onsite pairs exhibit behavior of exp(t/U)\sim \exp(-t/|U|), as expected from the BCS theory. For |U|>|U_{\ma{co}}|, quantities such as the energy gain in the SC transition and superfluid stiffness, which is related to the cost of phase coherence, behave as t2/UTc\sim t^2/|U|\propto T_{\rm c}, as expected in a bosonic scheme. In this regime, the SC transition is induced by a gain in kinetic energy, in contrast with the BCS theory.     DALICA: Agent-based ambient intelligence for cultural-heritage scenarios

    Villa Adriana is an enormous archaeological area where ancient artifacts and modern technology have found an unexpected equilibrium. The old artifacts are huge stone monuments; the modern technology includes PDAs and signals from the Galileo satellite combined with intelligent software agents. As part of the European CUSPIS project (Cultural Heritage Space Identification System, www. cuspis-project.info), we exploited intelligent agents for two ambient-intelligence scenarios applicable to Villa Adriana. One scenario involves cultural assets fruition-the possibility of accessing and enjoying cultural assets. This scenario concerns the dissemination of information about cultural assets; for example, users can visit a museum or archaeological site and receive on their mobile devices appropriate, personalized information about that place. The other scenario involves cultural assets monitoring, which concerns securely transporting cultural assets from the owner organization to a renter organization and back

    Museums and exhibitions represent a relevant contribution to the economy all over the world. In Italy, in the year 2006 the 400 national museums, monuments and archaeological sites have been visited by 34.492.875 people with an average entrance fee of 6,64 euro for person while in France 18.367.000 people decided to dedicate some time for visiting the national museums. Considered the increasing relevance of the cultural and economical level of museums, several works in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have proposed new methodologies for supporting the users during their visits. However, few research groups have faced the problem of the cultural assets transport. This paper pays attention to a particular aspect of the museum activities: how to identify and to transport in a secure way the cultural assets. In fact, a higher security in transport among museums may increase the exchanges and, consequently, the cultural offer. For reaching this goal we exploited the Galileo Satellite services and the Intelligent Agents technology and we experimented the system in a real scenario

    On February 21, 2023, the Catholic Law community joined together for the second presentation of the 2023 Student Scholars Series, given by third-year law student Mark Tocchio. Tocchio\u27s work entitled, Eychaner v. City of Chicago: Repercussions after The Supreme Court refuses to take up a Takings Clause Reconsideration, examines the vulnerability of property owners having their property taken away in urban and low-income areas. The Presentation respondent was Mark S. Bourbeau, Esq. of DTM, PC. In July 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court denied cert. in Eychaner v. City of Chicago, an eminent domain case that presented the Court with an opportunity to address the controversial holding established in Kelo v. City of New London. Without reconsidering Kelo, and by failing to reject the “future blight” justification presented in Eychaner, the Court has made private property owners in urban and low-income areas vulnerable to the taking of property for the benefit of those with political power and deep pockets

    In this paper we present Geo Time Authentication (GTA), a prototype system that provides authenticity and integrity of cultural assets information. It has been conceived in the context of the CUSPIS project and afterwards it has been generalized to the context of assets and goods where problems of counterfeiting and thefts are prevalent. To prevent these crimes GTA adds to the usual asset information an additional tag that contains Galileo geo time information and it extends digital certificates with the notion of geographical areas for protecting the origin and the authenticity of the assets.     Metal-insulator transition and strong-coupling spin liquid in the t-t ' Hubbard model

    We study the phase diagram of the frustrated t-t' Hubbard model on the square lattice by using a novel variational wave function. Taking the clue from the backflow correlations that have been introduced long-time ago by Feynman and Cohen and have been used for describing various interacting systems on the continuum (like liquid (3)He, the electron jellium, and metallic Hydrogen), we consider many-body correlations to construct a suitable approximation for the ground state of this correlated model on the lattice. In this way, a very accurate ansatz can be achieved both at weak and strong coupling.
