Confinement Models at Finite Temperature and Density
In-medium chiral symmetry breaking in confining potential models of QCD is
examined. Past attempts to analyse these models have been hampered by infrared
divergences that appear at non-zero temperature. We argue that previous
attempts to circumvent this problem are not satisfactory and demonstrate a
simple resolution. We also show that the expectation that confining models do
not exhibit a chiral phase transition is incorrect. The effect of summing ring
diagrams is investigated and we present the first determination of the
temperature-density phase diagram for two model systems. We find that
observables and the phase structure of the confinement models depend strongly
on whether quark polarisation is accounted for. Finally, it appears that
standard confinement models cannot adequately describe both hadron
phenomenology and in-medium properties of QCD.Comment: 9 pages, 10 figures. Version to appear in PR
Overview on the phenomenon of two-qubit entanglement revivals in classical environments
The occurrence of revivals of quantum entanglement between separated open
quantum systems has been shown not only for dissipative non-Markovian quantum
environments but also for classical environments in absence of back-action.
While the phenomenon is well understood in the first case, the possibility to
retrieve entanglement when the composite quantum system is subject to local
classical noise has generated a debate regarding its interpretation. This
dynamical property of open quantum systems assumes an important role in quantum
information theory from both fundamental and practical perspectives. Hybrid
quantum-classical systems are in fact promising candidates to investigate the
interplay among quantum and classical features and to look for possible control
strategies of a quantum system by means of a classical device. Here we present
an overview on this topic, reporting the most recent theoretical and
experimental results about the revivals of entanglement between two qubits
locally interacting with classical environments. We also review and discuss the
interpretations provided so far to explain this phenomenon, suggesting that

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to develop a better and sustainable future for the world and the goals are part of an action plan to address poverty, hunger, health, gender equity and various pressing world issues. One of these goals looks at health and wellness. Ageing populations have become a crucial issue worldwide and this short monograph explores ageing and how the consequences of an ageing population may affect our health care system through the case study on Hong Kong's population. The book looks at several critical health issues related to ageing. The elderly, particularly those with low socioeconomic status, rely more on the acute-centric care rather than primary care. The book suggests that secondary care service may only be effective to limited extent as a healthcare measure and an optimum health care system should be one that focuses on primary care. The authors put forth a compelling argument for disease prevention and screening schemes and explain how they are more cost-effective and beneficial to the society and the system. This thoughtful book will provide beneficial insights into the relationship of ageing and sustainable development goals in the context of health and wellness for policy makers and healthcare professionals
