Experimental Signature of Medium Modifications for rho and omega Mesons in the 12 GeV p + A Reactions
The invariant mass spectra of e+e- pairs produced in 12-GeV proton-induced
nuclear reactions are measured at the KEK Proton-Synchrotron. On the low-mass
side of the omega meson peak, a significant enhancement over the known hadronic
sources has been observed. The mass spectra, including the excess, are well
reproduced by a model that takes into account the density dependence of the
vector meson mass modification, as theoretically predicted.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, Version accepted for Physical Review Lette
Measurement of the Xi-p Scattering Cross Sections at Low Energy
In this paper we report cross-section measurements for elastic and
inelastic scatterings at low energy using a scintillating fiber active target.
Upper limit on the total cross-section for the elastic scattering was found to
be 24 mb at 90% confidence level, and the total cross section for the
reaction was found to be mb. We
compare the results with currently competing theoretical estimates.Comment: 9 page
Compensation of the Crossing Angle with Crab Cavities at KEKB
Crab cavities have been installed in the KEKB B--Factory rings to compensate
the crossing angle at the collision point and thus increase luminosity. The
beam operation with crab crossing has been done since February 2007. This is
the first experience with such cavities in colliders or storage rings. The crab
cavities have been working without serious issues. While higher specific
luminosity than the geometrical gain has been achieved, further study is
necessary and under way to reach the prediction of simulation.Comment: Submitted to Particle Accelerator Conference 2007, MOZAKI01,

Search for the pentaquark via the reaction at 1.92 GeV/
The pentaquark baryon was searched for via the
reaction in a missing-mass resolution of 1.4 MeV/(FWHM) at J-PARC.
meson beams were incident on the liquid hydrogen target with the beam momentum
of 1.92 GeV/. No peak structure corresponding to the mass was
observed. The upper limit of the production cross section averaged over the
scattering angle of 2 to 15 in the laboratory frame was
obtained to be 0.26 b/sr in the mass region of 1.511.55 GeV/.The
upper limit of the decay width using the effective Lagrangian
approach was obtained to be 0.72 MeV/ and 3.1 MeV/ for
and , respectively.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, 1 tabl
The K1.8BR spectrometer system at J-PARC
A new spectrometer system was designed and constructed at the secondary beam
line K1.8BR in the hadron hall of J-PARC to investigate interactions
and -nuclear bound systems. The spectrometer consists of a high
precision beam line spectrometer, a liquid He/He/D target system, a
Cylindrical Detector System that surrounds the target to detect the decay
particles from the target region, and a neutron time-of-flight counter array
located 15 m downstream from the target position. Details of the design,
construction, and performance of the detector components are described.Comment: 33 pages, 25 figure
