The trade collapse: lining up the suspects
Don't blame trade restrictions this time. Instead, the three culprits are the credit crunch, the "compositional effect" and the trend away from making an entire product in one country.International trade
Banking crises around the world: different governments, different responses
Over the past 40 years, there have been more than 120 banking crises around the world. Different governments have responded in different ways. The gross and net costs as a percentage of GDP range wildly, anywhere from less than 1 percent to well beyond 30 percent.Financial crises ; Banks and banking, International
Incorporating Betweenness Centrality in Compressive Sensing for Congestion Detection
This paper presents a new Compressive Sensing (CS) scheme for detecting
network congested links. We focus on decreasing the required number of
measurements to detect all congested links in the context of network
tomography. We have expanded the LASSO objective function by adding a new term
corresponding to the prior knowledge based on the relationship between the
congested links and the corresponding link Betweenness Centrality (BC). The
accuracy of the proposed model is verified by simulations on two real datasets.
The results demonstrate that our model outperformed the state-of-the-art CS
based method with significant improvements in terms of F-Score
Is dentistry the orphaned field of medicine? Ethical consideration for evidence-based dentistry
It was a watershed moment when Archie Cochrane published his work on Effectiveness and efficiency: random reflections on health services which was considered the start of evidence-based healthcare as we now know it. From there onward, evidence-based dentistry (EBD) has developed and evolved and there has been little attention to the interlink between EBD and ethics. The aim of this paper is to explore some of the ethical basis of evidence-based approach to healthcare utilising Beauchamp and Childress' four principles. EBD will be examined in relation to a variety of ethical theories. The case will be made that dentistry can, at times, be considered the orphaned field of medicine and an examination will be presented about how this may affect the uptake of EBD in practice. While exploring the strengths and weaknesses of EBD from an ethical viewpoint, we will highlight some of the challenges facing many dental practitioners in judging what is considered high-quality evidence and examine ways in which this could be improved with links to patient outcomes from an ethical perspective
A Brief Theory on Latest Trend of Filament Winding Machine
Composite is stated as constituent of two or more materials which retain their own physical and chemical property during the time of application, but produce a component which inherent the properties of its constituent materials and makes it better for the real time USAge. There are varieties of processing techniques for fabricating composite parts or structures such as: (1) Resin Transfer Moulding, (2) Pultrusion, (3) Filament Winding, (4) Autoclave Moulding. Among all these technique of exercising composite materials, the filament winding technique is the most appropriate because it avails the user with the ease of USAge, as well as gives wide range of degree of freedom for fabricating or manufacturing objects. In the paper we basically reveal the maximum approach made to study basic theory related to the filament winding technique or method, which provides initial platform for the new learner
Some aspects of reproductive biology of two sciaenids, Otolithes cuvieri Trewavas and Johnius elongatus Mohan: maturation, spawning, sex ratio and fecundity
The gonads of Otolithes cuvieri and Johnius elongatus are described in seven maturity stages. O. Cuvieri spawns once a year from April to September as evidence by ova diameter frequency distribution and GSI values. 50% maturity is attained at 210mm TL in males and 200mm TL in females. Fecundity ranged from 2387 to 104379 with a mean value of 33502. Log-Log relationship between fecundity and total lenght, body weight and ovary weight were determined. An overall sex ratio of 1.54:1.00 was unequal in favour of males.
Johnius elongatus spawns twice a year from January-February to Aprile-May and from August to October as evidence by ova diameter frequency distribution and GSI values. 50% maturity is attained at 140-143mm TL in both sexes. Fecundity ranged from 4238 to 167669 with a mean value of 42818. Log-Log relationship between fecundity and total lenght, body weign and ovary weight were determined. An overall sex ratio of 1.00:1.20 was unequal in favour of females
Relatively hyperbolic groups with strongly shortcut parabolics are strongly shortcut
We show that a group that is hyperbolic relative to strongly shortcut groups
is itself strongly shortcut, thus obtaining new examples of strongly shortcut
groups. The proof relies on a result of independent interest: we show that
every relatively hyperbolic group acts properly and cocompactly on a graph in
which the parabolic subgroups act properly and cocompactly on convex subgraphs.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figures. v2: Improved introductio
