Taxonomic results of the Bryotrop expedition to Zaire and Rwanda : 26., a new checklist of the mosses of Central Africa
Central Africa was one of the first regions in the tropics, if not the first, for which a checklist of mosses was compiled. In 1940, Demaret published the "Prodrome des Bryophytes du Congo Belge et du Ruanda-Urundi", followed by a supplement in 1946. In the 50 years since that time, numerous new contributions to the bryophyte flora of Central Africa have been made. Demaret added seven more publications on Zaire (formerly Belgian Congo). Phase diagram of an exactly solvable t-J ladder model
We study a system of one-dimensional t-J models coupled to a ladder system. A
special choice of the interaction between neighbouring rungs leads to an
integrable model with supersymmetry, which is broken by the presence of rung
interactions. We analyze the spectrum of low-lying excitations and ground state

Properties of the chiral spin liquid state in generalized spin ladders
We study zero temperature properties of a system of two coupled quantum spin
chains subject to fields explicitly breaking time reversal symmetry and parity.
Suitable choice of the strength of these fields gives a model soluble by Bethe
Ansatz methods which allows to determine the complete magnetic phase diagram of
the system and the asymptotics of correlation functions from the finite size
spectrum. The chiral properties of the system for both the integrable and the

Spectral Features of the Proximity Effect
We calculate the local density of states (LDOS) of a superconductor-normal
metal sandwich at arbitrary impurity concentration. The presence of the
superconductor induces a gap in the normal metal spectrum that is proportional
to the inverse of the elastic mean free path for rather clean systems. For
a mean free path much shorter than the thickness of the normal metal, we find a
gap size proportional to that approaches the behavior predicted by the
Usadel equation (diffusive limit).Comment: LT22 proceeding
Reply to the "Comment on 'Phase diagram of an impurity in the spin-1/2 chain: two channel Kondo effect versus Curie law'"
In a comment by A.A. Zvyagin the phase diagram in our Letter [Phys. Rev.
Lett. 86, 516 (2001)] was critisized of being incomplete and a new fixed point
was suggested. We show that this point is in fact not a fixed point and that

Emergence of Quantum Ergodicity in Rough Billiards
By analytical mapping of the eigenvalue problem in rough billiards on to a
band random matrix model a new regime of Wigner ergodicity is found. There the
eigenstates are extended over the whole energy surface but have a strongly
peaked structure. The results of numerical simulations and implications for

Real-time magnetic resonance imaging of temporomandibular joint dynamics.
This study evaluated the use of a novel real-time MRI technique based on fast low angle shot (FLASH) MRI with radial encoding, gridding reconstruction, and sliding window for the assessment of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dynamics in a cohort of 30 young volunteers without prior diagnosis of TMJ pathology. High-resolution images (0.75 0.75 mm2, 5 mm section thickness) were obtained at 3 frames per second for active jaw movements without adjunctive devices. Real-time movies were evaluated with respect to image artefacts, anatomical visibility, diagnostic confidence, and TMJ function. During the entire opening and closing of the mouth, the relative positions of the mandibular condyle and articular disc were well depicted. Mean scores were 1.01 ± 0.65 for motion artefacts (scale: 0 = no to 3 = severe artefacts) and 2.03 ± 0.71 for anatomical detectability (scale: 1 = excellent to 5 = not visible). High inter-observer agreements were found for assessments of mandibular condyle movements ( = 0.83) and articular disc displacements ( = 0.91). In latter cases, the point of disc reduction could precisely be identified. In conclusion, the proposed real-time MRI method offers robust access to TMJ dynamics with good image quality
