The paradox of idealization
A well-known proof by Alonzo Church, first published in 1963 by Frederic Fitch, purports to show that all truths are knowable only if all truths are known. This is the Paradox of Knowability. If we take it, quite plausibly,
that we are not omniscient, the proof appears to undermine metaphysical doctrines committed to the knowability of truth, such as semantic antirealism. Since its rediscovery by Hart and McGinn (1976), many solutions to the paradox have been offered. In this article, we present a new proof to the effect that not all truths are knowable, which rests on different assumptions from those of the original argument published by Fitch. We highlight the general form of the knowability paradoxes, and argue that anti-realists
who favour either an hierarchical or an intuitionistic approach to the Paradox of Knowability are confronted with a dilemma: they must either give up anti-realism or opt for a highly controversial interpretation of the principle that every truth is knowable
A large-N approximated field theory for multipartite entanglement
We study the characterization of multipartite entanglement for the random
states of an -qbit system. Unable to solve the problem exactly we generalize
it, changing complex numbers into real vectors with components (the
original problem is recovered for ). Studying the leading diagrams in
the large- approximation, we unearth the presence of a phase transition
and, in an explicit example, show that the so-called entanglement frustration

Towards a Smarter organization for a Self-servicing Society
Traditional social organizations such as those for the management of
healthcare are the result of designs that matched well with an operational
context considerably different from the one we are experiencing today. The new
context reveals all the fragility of our societies. In this paper, a platform
is introduced by combining social-oriented communities and complex-event
processing concepts: SELFSERV. Its aim is to complement the "old recipes" with
smarter forms of social organization based on the self-service paradigm and by

Local Hamiltonians for Maximally Multipartite Entangled States
We study the conditions for obtaining maximally multipartite entangled states
(MMES) as non-degenerate eigenstates of Hamiltonians that involve only
short-range interactions. We investigate small-size systems (with a number of
qubits ranging from 3 to 5) and show some example Hamiltonians with MMES as

Consumersâ Attitudes on Services of General Interest in the EU: Accessibility, Price and Quality 2000-2004
The research question addressed by this paper is a simple one: are European consumers happy with the services provided by the utilities after two decades of reforms? We focus on electricity, gas, water, telephone in the EU 15 Member States. The variables we analyse are consumersâ satisfaction with accessibility, price and quality, as reported in three waves of Eurobarometer survey, 2000-2002-2004, comprising around 47,000 observations. We use ordered logit models to analyze the impact of privatization and regulatory reforms, as represented by an OECD dataset, controlling for individual and country characteristics. Invariant measures on multimode quantum Gaussian states
We derive the invariant measure on the manifold of multimode quantum Gaussian
states, induced by the Haar measure on the group of Gaussian unitary
transformations. To this end, by introducing a bipartition of the system in two
disjoint subsystems, we use a parameterization highlighting the role of
nonlocal degrees of freedom -- the symplectic eigenvalues -- which characterize
quantum entanglement across the given bipartition. A finite measure is then
obtained by imposing a physically motivated energy constraint. By averaging
over the local degrees of freedom we finally derive the invariant distribution
of the symplectic eigenvalues in some cases of particular interest for

Multipartite entanglement characterization of a quantum phase transition
A probability density characterization of multipartite entanglement is tested
on the one-dimensional quantum Ising model in a transverse field. The average
and second moment of the probability distribution are numerically shown to be
good indicators of the quantum phase transition. We comment on multipartite
