Hazai földrengések forrásparamétereinek átfogó vizsgálata = Detailed investigation of source parameters for Hungarian earthquakes
Jelen kutatási projekt cĂ©lja a Magyarországon kipattant földrengĂ©sek forrásparamĂ©tereinek meghatározása volt. Lokális földrengĂ©sek Ă©s mĂ©lyszeizmikus mĂ©rĂ©sek beĂ©rkezĂ©si idĹ‘adatainak felhasználásával Ăşj, hazánk terĂĽletĂ©re jellemzĹ‘ egydimenziĂłs sebessĂ©g modellt konstruáltunk. Egy korábban kifejlesztett nemlineáris, probabilisztikus hullámforma inverziĂłs mĂłdszerrel meghatároztuk számos lokális földrengĂ©s fĂ©szekmechanizmusát (momentum tenzorát). Ezzel egyidejűleg egy Ăşj, iteratĂv, Lp norma minimalizáciĂłs eljárást fejlesztettĂĽnk ki, melynek segĂtsĂ©gĂ©vel az idĹ‘ben változĂł fĂ©szekmechanizmust leĂrĂł momentum tenzor fĂĽggvĂ©nyeket felbonthatjuk egy idĹ‘ben állandĂł momentum tenzor Ă©s egy Ăşn. forrásfĂĽggvĂ©ny szorzatára. A tĂ©rhullámok spektrális analĂzisĂ©vel meghatároztuk számos lokális földrengĂ©s dinamikus forrásparamĂ©tereit: a skaláris momentumot, a feszĂĽltsĂ©gcsökkenĂ©s mĂ©rtĂ©kĂ©t, az elmozdulást elszenvedĹ‘ felĂĽlet nagyságát Ă©s az átlagos elmozdulást. FelállĂtottunk egy lineáris összefĂĽggĂ©st a lokális Ă©s a momentum magnitĂşdĂł között, mely nĂ©lkĂĽlözhetetlen a modern földrengĂ©s-veszĂ©lyeztetettsĂ©g számĂtásokhoz. GPS mĂ©rĂ©sek Ă©s földrengĂ©sek magnitĂşdĂł Ă©s fĂ©szekmechanizmus adatait felhasználva a kárpáti rĂ©giĂł kĂ©t szeizmikusan aktĂv terĂĽlete esetĂ©ben összevetettĂĽk a geodĂ©ziai Ă©s szeizmolĂłgiai alakváltozási sebessĂ©geket. EredmĂ©nyeink szerint Magyarországon a kĂ©regbeli deformáciĂł legnagyobb rĂ©szt aszeizmikus mĂłdon megy vĂ©gbe, mĂg a Mur-MĂĽrz zĂłnában a szeizmikus deformáciĂł jĂłval nagyobb szerepet játszik. | The present project was aimed at determining the source parameters for earthquakes occurred in Hungary. As a prerequisite, we have constructed a new one-dimensional velocity model for the territory of Hungary using arrival times of local earthquakes and controlled seismic sources. The focal mechanisms (full moment tensors) of several local earthquakes have been estimated by a non-linear, probabilistic waveform inversion method developed during previous research projects. Simultaneously, we have developed an iterative Lp norm minimization technique to retrieve the best moment tensor and source time function from the moment tensor rate functions obtained by waveform inversion. The dynamic source parameters of several local earthquakes have been calculated by the spectral analysis of body waves in order to derive the seismic moment, stress drop, fault area and average fault slip of the investigated events. We have also established a linear relationship between local magnitude and moment magnitude that is essential in modern seismic hazard calculations. Using GPS and earthquake magnitude and focal mechanism data, we compared the geodetic and seismic strain rates for two seismogenic zones in the Pannonian basin. The low value of the seismic/geodetic strain rate ratio in Hungary is due to the aseismic release of the prevailing compressive stress. In the Mur-MĂĽrz zone, the seismic part of the deformation is notably larger than in the case of Hungary
A földi árapály és a vele kapcsolatos geodinamikai jelenségek mérési módszereinek továbbfejlesztése, a Pannon-medencében regisztrált adatok feldolgozása és komplex értelmezése. = Further development of measuring methods of Earth tide and the one of relevant geodynamical phenonema, processing and complex interpretation of the data recorded in the Pannonian-basin
További műszerfejlesztĂ©seket hajtottunk vĂ©gre a Pannon-medence extenzomĂ©teres hálĂłzatában. Ăšj kalibrálĂł mĂłdszert fejlesztettĂĽnk ki, amelynek segĂtsĂ©gĂ©vel megdupláztuk az extenzomĂ©terek in-situ kalibrálásának eddigi pontosságát. Ăšj matematikai mĂłdszereket fejlesztettĂĽnk ki a hĹ‘mĂ©rsĂ©klet- Ă©s a lĂ©gnyomásváltozások hatásának csökkentĂ©sĂ©re. RĂ©szletesen kiĂ©rtĂ©keltĂĽk az összes obszervatĂłrium extenzomĂ©teres adatait. Az össze állomás esetĂ©ben meghatároztuk az átlagos tektonikai sebessĂ©geket Ă©s ezeket összehasonlĂtottuk a GPS, a geodĂ©ziai Ă©s a geofizikai mĂ©rĂ©sekbĹ‘l kapott sebessĂ©gekkel. A Sopronbánfalván (16 Ă©v) Ă©s a PĂ©csett (9 Ă©v) mĂ©rt hosszĂş adatsorokbĂłl azt a következtetĂ©st vontuk le, hogy a tektonikai mozgások sebessĂ©ge nem állandĂł a tektonikai Ă©s a hegysĂ©gkĂ©pzĹ‘ erĹ‘k kölcsönhatása miatt. Az extenzomĂ©teres mĂ©rĂ©sek jelentĹ‘sen hozzájárultak a Pannon-medence recens tektonikai folyamatainak a megĂ©rtĂ©sĂ©hez. KĂ©t mĂłdszert fejlesztettĂĽnk ki az árapálykutatás gyakorlati alkalmazására: -hidrolĂłgiai Ă©s hidrogeolĂłgiai paramĂ©terek meghatározása zárt rĂ©tegvizek környezetĂ©ben a rĂ©tegvĂzbe behatolĂł megfigyelĹ‘kutakban mĂ©rt vĂzszintváltozások árapály-analĂzise segĂtsĂ©gĂ©vel, -árapály mĂ©rĂ©sek Ă©s analĂzis alkalmazása nagy objektumok egĂ©szsĂ©gi állapotának monitorozására Ă©s földrengĂ©s veszĂ©lyeztetettsĂ©gĂ©nek becslĂ©sĂ©re. | Further instrumental developments were carried out in the extensometric network of the Pannonian Basin. A new calibration method was developed and the earlier accuracy of the in-situ calibration of the extensometers was doubled. New mathematical methods were elaborated for the elimination of the influence of the temperature and air pressure variations. The extensometric data series of all stations were analysed in details. At all extensometric stations the average rate of the tectonic movements was determined and compared with the rates obtained by GPS, geodetic and geophysical measurements. From the long data series measured in Sopronbánfalva (16 years) and in PĂ©cs (9 years) it was concluded that the rate of the tectonic movements is not constant due to the interaction between the tectonic and orogenic forces. The extensometric measurements contributed considerably to the understanding of the recent tectonic processes in the Pannonian Basin. Two methods were developed for the practical application of the tidal research: -a method to determine the hydrological and hydrogeological parameters in the vicinity of confined aquifers by tidal analysis of water level variations in wells penetrating into the aquifer, -a method to use tidal measurements and analysis for health monitoring and earthquake risk assessment of large objects
Geo-hidrodinamika: folyadékdinamikai jelenségek a Föld belsejében = Geo-hydrodynamics: fluid dynamical phenomena in the Earths`s interior
ProjektĂĽnk cĂ©lja a Föld belsejĂ©ben zajlĂł többfĂ©le áramlás közĂĽl kĂ©t rendszer vizsgálata volt. A köpenyben zajlĂł termikus konvekciĂł háromdimenziĂłs numerikus modelleredmĂ©nyei feltárták, hogy a vizsgált paramĂ©terek mindegyike befolyásolja a köpenyhĹ‘oszlopok számát. A hĹ‘oszlopok dimenziĂłtlan terĂĽleti sűrűsĂ©ge 2-3 illetve 0,04-0,06 attĂłl fĂĽggĹ‘en, hogy a feláramlás a köpeny-mag határrĂłl indul vagy a modell kĂ©trĂ©teges, Ă©s a felsĹ‘köpeny hĹ‘oszlopok forrástartománya a 660 km-es fázishatár. Szuperkritikus Rayleigh-szám esetĂ©n, belsĹ‘ hĹ‘termelĂ©s jelenlĂ©tĂ©ben a terĂĽleti sűrűsĂ©g Ă©rtĂ©ke ~1. | The main goal of our OTKA project was to investigate two types of convection in the Earth's interior. The 3D modeling of mantle convection showed that all the investigated model parameters (Rayleigh number, depth-dependent viscosity, heat production) affect the number of mantle plumes. The areal densities of plumes are 2-3 or 0.04-0.06 depending on the source area of upwelling plumes i.e. the mantle-core boundary or the phase boundary at depth of 660 km, respectively. In case of supercritical Rayleigh number the plume density is ~1. To compare these results with several hotspot lists we can conclude that the source area of mantle plumes are partly the mantle-core boundary and partly the thermal boundary layer at 660 km depth. The numerical modeling of underground water flow in the porous-permeable layers of the crust showed that high Rayleigh number and low hydraulic gradient result in a number of polygon shape convection cells and low Rayleigh number and high hydraulic gradient result in one convective cell. In case of intermediate parameters cylindrical convection cells develop parallel or perpendicular to the slope. Similar circulations can be observed in the atmosphere and in the Earth?s mantle in certain conditions. The results of this modeling were used to interpret groundwater flow observations in the Pannonian basin
Preliminary Moho depth determination from receiver function analysis using AlpArray stations in Hungary
Receiver function analysis is applied to the western part of the Pannonian Basin, a rather complex region both geologically and geodynamically. Previous receiver function analyses in this region had to deal with much smaller station density and time span than those available to us. In the analysis we used the data of some 48 seismological stations. These include not only the permanent stations from Hungary and permanent stations from neighbouring countries (Slovakia and Slovenia), but also the temporary broadband stations that were installed within the framework of the AlpArray project. Having applied rather strict manual quality control on the calculated radial receiver functions we stacked the receiver functions. Using the H–K grid search method we determined the Moho depth and the Vp/Vs ratio beneath the seismological stations in the western part of the Pannonian Basin. The unprecedented density of the AlpArray network, combined with the permanent stations, allowed us to derive high resolution Moho and Vp/Vs maps for the West Pannonian Basin, together with uncertainty estimates. Our preliminary results agree well with previous studies and complement them with finer details on the Moho topography and crustal thickness. © 2018, Akadémiai Kiadó
