Giant Goos–Hänchen shifts and radiation-induced trapping of Helmholtz solitons at nonlinear interfaces
Giant Goos–Hänchen shifts and radiation-induced trapping are studied at the planar boundary separating two focusing Kerr media within the framework of the Helmholtz theory. The analysis, valid for all angles of incidence, reveals that interfaces exhibiting linear external refraction can also accommodate both phenomena. Numerical evidence of these effects is provided, based on analytical predictions derived from a generalized Snell’s law
Research on nonlinear and quantum optics at the photonics and quantum information group of the University of Valladolid
We outline the main research lines in Nonlinear and Quantum Optics of the Group of Photonics and Quantum Information at the University of Valladolid. These works focus on Optical Solitons, Quantum Information using Photonic Technologies and the development of new materials for Nonlinar Optics. The investigations on optical solitons cover both temporal solitons in dispersion managed fiber links and nonparaxial spatial solitons as described by the Nonlinear Helmholtz Equation. Within the Quantum Information research lines of the group, the studies address new photonic schemes for quantum computation and the multiplexing of quantum data. The investigations of the group are, to a large extent, based on intensive and parallel computations. Some associated numerical techniques for the development of the activities described are briefly sketched
We present a study about 106 crania which
belong to the collection of the Legal Medicine School
of Madrid, of current spanish population and known
sex to study if there are diferences related with sex
when it comes to talk about the number of lobes and
the area in mm between the cranial sinus. A
radiological and image analysis study is carried out
concluding that there are no differences in male and
female in both parametres studied
Nonlinear interfaces: intrinsically nonparaxial regimes and effects
The behaviour of optical solitons at planar nonlinear boundaries is a problem rich in intrinsically nonparaxial regimes that cannot be fully addressed by theories based on the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. For instance, large propagation angles are typically involved in external refraction at interfaces. Using a recently proposed generalized Snell's law for Helmholtz solitons, we analyse two such effects: nonlinear external refraction and total internal reflection at interfaces where internal and external refraction, respectively, would be found in the absence of nonlinearity. The solutions obtained from the full numerical integration of the nonlinear Helmholtz equation show excellent agreement with the theoretical predictions
Nonlinear Bloch modes, optical switching and Bragg solitons in tightly coupled micro-ring resonator chains
We study nonlinear wave phenomena in coupled ring resonator optical
waveguides in the tight coupling regime. A discrete model for the system
dynamics is put forward and its steady state nonlinear Bloch modes are derived.
The switching behavior of the transmission system is addressed numerically and
the results are explained in the light of this analytical result. We also
present a numerical study on the spontaneous generation of Bragg solitons from
a continuous-wave input.Comment: Final versio
