Mirror matter admixtures in K_S to gamma gamma
The latest measurement of the K_S to gamma gamma branching ratio clearly
shows an enhancement over the current theoretical prediction. As in other K and
B meson decays, this invites to consider the possibility of the contribution of
new physics. We study a particular form of the latter, which may be referred to
as manifest mirror symmetry. The experimental data are described using
previously determined values for the mixing angles of the admixtures of mirror
matter in ordinary hadrons and by assuming that for pi^0, eta, eta', the mirror
decay amplitudes have the same magnitudes as their ordinary counterparts
Absorption and Direct Processes in Chaotic Wave Scattering
Recent results on the scattering of waves by chaotic systems with losses and
direct processes are discussed. We start by showing the results without direct
processes nor absorption. We then discuss systems with direct processes and
lossy systems separately. Finally the discussion of systems with both direct
processes and loses is given. We will see how the regimes of strong and weak

Making Sustainable Agriculture Real in CAP 2020: The Role of Conservation Agriculture
Europe is about to redefine its Common Agriculture Policy (CAP) for the near future. The question is whether this redefinition is more a fine-tuning of the existing CAP or whether thorough changes can be expected. Looking back to the last revision of CAP the most notable change is, undoubtedly, the concern about EU and global food security. The revival of the interest in agricultural production already became evident during the Health Check as a consequence of climbing commodity prices in 2007/08. It is therefore no surprise that “rising concerns regarding both EU and global food security” is the first topic to appear in the list of justifications for the need for a CAP reform. Other challenges mentioned in this list such as sustainable management of natural resources, climate change and its mitigation, improvement of competitiveness to withstand globalization and rising price volatility, etc., while not new are considered worthwhile enough to be maintained and reappraised
Radiative two-pion decay of the tau lepton
We consider the bremsstrahlung and model-dependent contributions to the
radiative decay in the context of a
meson dominance model. We focus on several observables related to this decay,
including the branching ratio and the photon and di-pion spectra. Particular
attention is paid to the sensitivity of different observables upon the effects
of model-dependent contributions and of the magnetic dipole moment of the
vector meson. Important numerical differences are found with

First-Principles Study of Substitutional Metal Impurities in Graphene: Structural, Electronic and Magnetic Properties
We present a theoretical study using density functional calculations of the
structural, electronic and magnetic properties of 3d transition metal, noble
metal and Zn atoms interacting with carbon monovacancies in graphene. We pay
special attention to the electronic and magnetic properties of these
substitutional impurities and found that they can be fully understood using a
simple model based on the hybridization between the states of the metal atom,
particularly the d shell, and the defect levels associated with an
unreconstructed D3h carbon vacancy. We identify three different regimes
associated with the occupation of different carbon-metal hybridized electronic
levels:
(i) bonding states are completely filled for Sc and Ti, and these impurities
are non-magnetic;
(ii) the non-bonding d shell is partially occupied for V, Cr and Mn and,
correspondingly, these impurties present large and localized spin moments;
(iii) antibonding states with increasing carbon character are progressively
filled for Co, Ni, the noble metals and Zn. The spin moments of these
impurities oscillate between 0 and 1 Bohr magnetons and are increasingly
delocalized.
The substitutional Zn suffers a Jahn-Teller-like distortion from the C3v
symmetry and, as a consequence, has a zero spin moment. Fe occupies a distinct
position at the border between regimes (ii) and (iii) and shows a more complex
behavior: while is non-magnetic at the level of GGA calculations, its spin
moment can be switched on using GGA+U calculations with moderate values of the
