The asymptotic stability of solitons in the focusing Hirota equation on the line

In this paper, the \overline\partial-steepest descent method and B\"acklund transformation are used to study the asymptotic stability of solitons to the Cauchy problem of focusing Hirota equation. The solution of the RH problem is further decomposed into pure radiation solution and solitons solution obtained by using \overline\partial-techniques and B\"acklund transformation respectively. As a directly consequence, the asymptotic stability of solitons for the Hirota equation is obtained.Comment: 43 pages. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1302.1215 by other author

A Graph-based Approach for Detecting Critical Infrastructure Disruptions on Social Media in Disasters

The objective of this paper is to propose and test a graph-based approach for detection of critical infrastructure disruptions in social media data in disasters. Understanding the situation and disruptive events of critical infrastructure is essential to effective disaster response and recovery of communities. The potential of social media data for situation awareness during disasters has been highlighted in recent studies. However, the application of social sensing in detecting disruptions of critical infrastructure is limited because existing approaches cannot provide complete and non-ambiguous situational information about critical infrastructure. Therefore, to address this methodological gap, we developed a graph-based approach including data filtering, burst time-frame detection, content similarity and graph analysis. A case study of Hurricane Harvey in 2017 in Houston was conducted to illustrate the application of the proposed approach. The findings highlighted the temporal patterns of critical infrastructure events that occurred in disasters including disruptive events and their adverse impacts on communities. The findings also provided insights for better understanding critical infrastructure interdependencies in disasters. From the practical perspective, the proposed methodology study can improve the ability of community members, first responders and decision makers to detect and respond to infrastructure disruptions in disasters

The Dynamical Yang-Baxter Relation and the Minimal Representation of the Elliptic Quantum Group

In this paper, we give the general forms of the minimal LL matrix (the elements of the LL-matrix are cc numbers) associated with the Boltzmann weights of the An11A_{n-1}^1 interaction-round-a-face (IRF) model and the minimal representation of the An1A_{n-1} series elliptic quantum group given by Felder and Varchenko. The explicit dependence of elements of LL-matrices on spectral parameter zz are given. They are of five different forms (A(1-4) and B). The algebra for the coefficients (which do not depend on zz) are given. The algebra of form A is proved to be trivial, while that of form B obey Yang-Baxter equation (YBE). We also give the PBW base and the centers for the algebra of form B.Comment: 23 page

Objective. Individualized application of TCM is not easy and may lead to undesirable results, such as poor effect or even adverse reactions. This trial aims to compare two common Chinese patent medicines with similar effects. Background of the Research. Four hospitals carried out the test at the same time in Tianjin city of China. Participants. 144 patients were involved in this study; all patients must meet the diagnostic criteria. Interventions. Qishen Yiqi pills, compound danshen pills, and their placebos; an efficacy analysis was conducted after the first medication and after crossover medication. Primary Outcome Measures. The primary index of end point includes Seattle Angina Questionnaire score-7 and score of 7-point Likert Scale; the curative effect was compared with minimal clinically important differences value. Result. Two drugs have their respective advantages in treating SAP. In practical application, the two drugs shall be discriminated in use based on patients’ specific symptoms. Trial Registration. Chinese clinical trials register is ChiCTR-TTRCC-14004406 (registered 23 March 2014)

Integrability of the Heisenberg Chains with Boundary Impurities and Their Bethe Ansatz

In this paper, we show the integrability of spin-1/2 XXZ Heisenberg chain with two arbitrary spin boundary Impurities. By using the fusion method, we generalize it to the spin-1 XXZ chain. Then the eigenvalues of Hamiltonians of these models are obtained by the means of Bethe ansatz method.Comment: 13 pages, latex, no figures, to be appeared in J.Phys.

Study on the evaluation of the clinical effects of traditional chinese medicine in heart failure by complex intervention: protocol of SECETCM-HF

Abstract

Background

Experts in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) have studied the TCM subject of the pathogenesis of heart failure (HF) for several decades. As a result, the general idea is <it>ben </it>deficiency and <it>biao </it>excess. However, the clinical evaluation system which combined the TCM and western medicine in HF has not been developed yet. The objective is to establish the evaluation index system for the integration of TCM and western medicine. The evaluation indexes which include TCM items will specify the research design and methods.

Methods

Nine medical centers in different cities in China will participate in the trial. A population of 340 patients with HF will be enrolled through a central randomized system for different test groups. Group A will be treated with only western medicine, while group B with western and Chinese medicine together. The study will last for 12 months from the date of enrollment. The cardiovascular death will be the primary outcome.

Discussion

By putting the protocol into practice, the clinical effects of TCM for HF will be identified scientifically, objectively as well as rationally. The proper index system which built in the study will be helpful for the clinical effect expression of HF by integrated medicine in future.

Trial Registration

ChiCTR-TRC-00000059</p

A Comparative Study of Fungal Community Structure, Diversity and Richness between the Soil and the Phyllosphere of Native Grass Species in a Copper Tailings Dam in Shanxi Province, China

In the study area, mining processes have led to the accumulation of a large amount of ore sand and a tailings dam was established above this artificial overburden. After a long period of restoration, the area was reclaimed by a variety of native vegetation. This study investigated four of these native grass species, namely, Bothriochloa ischaemum, Imperata cylindrica, Elymus dahuricus and Calamagrostis epigejos, having reestablished themselves after the restoration of a copper tailings dam built in 1969 in Shanxi Province, China. We analyzed the fungal community structure in the soil and the phyllosphere of the four native grass species using high-throughput sequencing. Results showed that the soil of the tailings dam was weakly alkaline and copper (Cu) was the most pervasive element present. Ascomycota were the dominant fungal taxa in the soil and the phyllosphere of all four native grass species, for which total soil nitrogen (N) content was an influencing factor. Basidiomycota was positively correlated to cadmium (Cd), which can additionally be used as an indicator of Cd pollution in copper tailings dams. Among the four native grass species, Nectriaceae was the dominant fungal family found exclusively in B. ischaemum; Meruliaceae and Phaeosphaeriaceae were the dominant fungal families of E. dahuricus; Cordycipitaceae and Sporormiaceae were only found in C. epigejos. However, we found no evidence of a dominant fungal family in I. cylindrica. Furthermore, Erythrobasidiales sp., which had the highest betweenness centrality after network analysis, was identified as the key fungal species in all four native grass species
