Sacred is the Call: Supervisory Accountability and Responsibility in the Formation of Spiritual Directors

Those who practice spiritual direction and form others as spiritual directors in the first world cannot do so without holding ourselves accountable to the ethical norms and behaviors commonly spelled out in other ministerial professions. At the same time, we want to leave God's Spirit free to animate, inspire, and guide others through the finely spirit-attuned persons who understand and can mediate the ways of God to others.
