The Error Probability of the Miller–Rabin Primality Test
© 2018, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. In our paper we give theoretical and practical estimations of the error probability in the well-known Miller–Rabin probabilistic primality test. We show that a theoretical probability of error 0.25 for a single round of the test is very overestimated and, in fact, error is diminishing with the growth of length of numbers involved by a rate limited with ln n/n
Formation of high-carbon abrasion-resistant surface layers when high-energy heating by high-frequency currents
The paper shows the possibility of carburization of low-carbon steel surface layers using high-frequency currents. The mathematical modeling of carburization using high-energy heating by high-frequency currents (HEH HFC) has been carried out, the temperature fields formed during the given processing have been calculated, as well as the structural changes in the surface layers have been simulated. The features of the structure formation in the surface layers of low-carbon steel after carburizing via HEH HFC have been determined by optical and scanning microscopy, which is confirmed by the computational models. The rational mode of fusion via HEH HFC has also been determined (power density of the source q[s]=(1.5...4.0)•10{8} W m{-2}, (the relative travel speed of parts V[p]=5 ... 100 mm /sec), with forming the compressive retained stresses in the surface layer ([sigma][RS]=-300...-400 MPa)
Audiovisual content analysis in the translation process
The article presents a comprehensive approach to the process of audiovisual translation that includes
application of multimodal analysis of semiotic codes present in audiovisual productions. The article
dwells on how the proposed approach can be applied to analyzing audiovisual productions for
different types of audiovisual translation. Due to its multimodal nature, an audiovisual production is
understood by the authors as an audiovisual text that combines image, sound and verbal means, that
is, different modes conveying meaning. The means of conveying meaning in an audiovisual
production include the visual non-verbal elements, visual verbal elements as well as audio non-verbal
and verbal elements. The priority of these means of meaning transfer and their interaction in
meaning generation differ significantly depending on the genre of audiovisual productions and the
specifics of the process of its creation
ABOUT MEASURES TO PREVENT IMPORTATION AND DISSEMINATION OF SEVERE ACUTE RESPIRATORY SYNDROME (SARS) AT MAGADANSKAYA PROVINCE TERRITORY
Threat of SARS importation and dissemination at the territory of Magadanskaya Province is conditioned first of all by wide international relations with countries of SouthEast Asia carried out through airport and sea trade port. In this connection large organizing and practical activities on the basis of «A complex plan on sanitary protection of Magadanskaya Province territory from importation and dissemination of quarantine and other especially dangerous infections» are realized. All concerned Departments and Services took part in realization of the preventive measures. The developed and realized complex of anti-epidemic and preventive measures allowed to create obstacles to SARS importation on the territory of Magadanskaya Province
Effects of Antiretroviral Therapy and Depressive Symptoms on All-Cause Mortality Among HIV-Infected Women
Abstract Depression affects up to 30% of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected individuals. We estimated joint effects of antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation and depressive symptoms on time to death using a joint marginal structural model and data from a cohort of HIV-infected women from the Women's Interagency HIV Study (conducted in the United States) from 1998–2011. Among 848 women contributing 6,721 years of follow-up, 194 participants died during follow-up, resulting in a crude mortality rate of 2.9 per 100 women-years. Cumulative mortality curves indicated greatest mortality for women who reported depressive symptoms and had not initiated ART. The hazard ratio for depressive symptoms was 3.38 (95% confidence interval (CI): 2.15, 5.33) and for ART was 0.47 (95% CI: 0.31, 0.70). Using a reference category of women without depressive symptoms who had initiated ART, the hazard ratio for women with depressive symptoms who had initiated ART was 3.60 (95% CI: 2.02, 6.43). For women without depressive symptoms who had not started ART, the hazard ratio was 2.36 (95% CI: 1.16, 4.81). Among women reporting depressive symptoms who had not started ART, the hazard ratio was 7.47 (95% CI: 3.91, 14.3). We found a protective effect of ART initiation on mortality, as well as a harmful effect of depressive symptoms, in a cohort of HIV-infected women
Patient routing and process approach implementation for regional oncology service
Background. Cancer care involves a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment of patients. A complex interaction of actors in the deployment of oncology services dictates usage of modern management technologies for improving the quality and efficiency of patient care through processes optimisation.Objectives. Provision of recommendations for patient routing based on research into the oncology service inter-level information exchange, integration of the process approach and electronic services. The lack of a unified information space with a regional oncology service has been explained. Measures are proposed for the patient routing optimisation as part of establishing a unified digital oncology service circuit.Methods. The oncology service was effectively remodelled through functional and information engineering of electronic services and the process management integration to establish a horizontal decision flow between facilities and employees on a process level bypassing the supervisor coordination. Statistical approaches were used to analyse the oncological patient population.Results. The following electronic services have been implemented: specialised patient referral routing, telemedicine and teleradiology. A comprehensive information framework has been created comprising medical, laboratory and radiological information subsystems integrated through regional electronic services of the unified state healthcare information platform. The goals, objectives, general principles, architecture and expected social economic impact on healthcare of Krasnodar Krai have been defined.Conclusion. Use of electronic services ensures an improved quality of specialised care and effective routing of patients. We perceive prospects of the integrated information platform in the extension and improvement of its subsystems’ functionality and content, sourcing more data providers and the circuit expansion to the federal and regional levels
Steady state of atoms in a resonant field with elliptical polarization
We present a complete set of analytical and invariant expressions for the
steady-state density matrix of atoms in a resonant radiation field with
arbitrary intensity and polarization. The field drives the closed dipole
transition with arbitrary values of the angular momenta and of
the ground and excited state. The steady-state density matrix is expressed in
terms of spherical harmonics of a complex direction given by the field
polarization vector. The generalization to the case of broad-band radiation is
given. We indicate various applications of these results.Comment: revtex, 26 pages, including 3 eps figures; PRA accepted for
