Investigar a moda indígena em Abya Yala: lições dos estudos de arte nativa americana
open access articleThis paper offers a methodological approach to research Indigenous fashion in Abya Yala, based on the insights offered by recent writings on Native American art. Such methodologies must be rooted on Indigenous systems of thought, forms of conducting research, and ways of knowledge. The relational character of Indigenous systems of knowledge allows for the co-existence of several truths. Moreover, Indigenous people and objects who have been traditionally excluded from the building of academic knowledge in the west must be accepted as academic authorities. This paper proposes centering research of Indigenous fashion on Native paradigms in order to rewrite hegemonic narratives and give prominence to Indigenous people, objects, and worldviews
La contratación de los servicios jurídicos en la Ley 9/2017, de 8 de noviembre, de Contratos del Sector Público
Directive 2014/24/EU, passed by the European Parliament on January 14th 2014 and published in the Official Journal of the European Union on March 28th 2014, throws new light on the legal regime of general service contracts, and particularly on the regime applicable to contracts of legal services. Once the Directive has been transposed into Law 9/2017 of November 8th on Public Sector Contracts, the exclusions of legal services from their regulation and application, far from being respected, have not been addressed by the national legislator, nor even in the regulation of a simplified system for contracting these services. This paper addresses the treatment of contracting legal services under the Public Contracts Law, the pecularities of the contract of these services based on mutual trust as an element that distinguishes the provision of legal services, and the need for differentiated treatment when contracting certain legal tools –those excluded by art.
Fish By-Product Valorization as Source of Bioactive Compounds for Food Enrichment: Characterization, Suitability and Shelf Life
Fish processing generates many by-products, which are mainly destined for aquaculture feed. However, these by-products have interesting nutritional properties and could still be used for human consumption, thus promoting circular economy. Therefore, this study focused on evaluating the shelf life of mechanically deboned and dried meat (MDDM) of sea bass based on the lipid oxidation criterion (TBARS). The effect of a tocopherol-based antioxidant was also evaluated, and changes in the fatty acid profile were studied. For that, samples with and without antioxidant were stored at three temperatures (37, 55, and 65 °C) for 50 days. This allowed its modelling according to the Arrhenius model. The results showed a shelf life for MDDM of 220 days at 20 °C without the addition of antioxidant. When antioxidant was added, a high protective effect against oxidation and preservation of unsaturated fatty acids was perceived, avoiding nutritional losses and negative sensory effects, reducing EPA and DHA losses by 75 and 72%, respectively. In conclusion, the stability of MDDM from sea bass was demonstrated, making possible its incorporation into other food matrices
Calcitonin/PAC1 receptor splice variants: a blind spot in migraine research
The neuropeptides calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) and their receptors are linked to migraine neurobiology. Recent antimigraine therapeutics targeting the signaling of these neuropeptides are effective; however, some patients respond suboptimally, indicating an incomplete understanding of migraine pathophysiology. The CGRP- and PACAP-responsive receptors can be differentially spliced. It is known that receptor splice variants can have different pathophysiological effects in other receptor-mediated pain pathways. Despite considerable knowledge on the structural and pharmacological differences of the CGRP- and PACAP-responsive receptor splice variants and their expression in migraine-relevant tissues, their role in migraine is rarely considered. Here we shine a spotlight on the calcitonin and PACAP (PAC1) receptor splice variants and examine what implications they may have for drug activity and design.</p
Vascular Effects of Current and Novel Antimigraine Drugs
Migraine is a highly prevalent and disabling neurovascular disorder, that predominantly affects women, thought to be associated with a dysfunctional activation of the trigeminovascular system. Despite the high prevalence of migraine, not all patients respond to current treatment. Moreover, the gold standard for acute treatment (“triptans”), are contraindicated in patients with cardiovascular disease due to their action in coronary blood vessels and migraine patients have higher risk of cardiovascular events. Additionally, the drugs available for the preventative treatment were not originally developed for migraine.
Thus, novel treatments that do not act on the coronary blood vessels and are developed based on the pathophysiology of migraine are needed. In this thesis, we set out to investigate whether the novel antimigraine drugs atogepant, erenumab, lasmiditan and ubrogepant act on the blood vessels. We also studied whether the antihypertensive propranolol, currently given as migraine preventative acts on the trigeminovascular system. Our results show that atogepant, erenumab, lasmiditan and ubrogepant are all devoid of vascular effects and that propranolol modulates the trigeminovascular system in a sex dependent manner
Economy and Environmental Problems in the Mexican Coastal States
A canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) for environmental and economic variables was performed for 17 Mexican coastal states. The ordination method allowed us to identify three groups, namely hydroelectric energy generation (I), pollution (II) and harbours (III), which were associated to different human activities. Furthermore, CCA is efficient to help us generate hypotheses for future research. It is therefore advised that CCA should be used for routine analyses into economics.Coastal States of Mexico, Canonical Correspondence Analysis, Diversity Index, Economic Development, Environmental Variables.
