The Use of Music to Teach Languages
Songs, as well as chants, present a lot of benefits if well used and worked in our foreign language lessons. In fact, songs provide a valuable source of authentic FL uses and there are several ways to exploit them in the classroom. They are a lively and motivating way of introducing children to new language which provides opportunities to learn vocabulary, grammar, practice and improve the oral skills, pronunciation and the prosodic patterns of stress, rhythm and intonation. Furthermore, songs and music also teach culture from the foreign language speaking countries since they reflect sociocultural aspects
ICTs in the subject of first foreign language: English
The objective when learning a language is to communicate. For this reason, the teacher has to use different materials and resources to engage the students to be active participants in the classroom. Nowadays, there are indeed many different resources and materials that may be brought to the foreign language classroom to support the teaching-learning process. In this article, we will analyse the different kinds of materials and the convenience of using audio-visual materials, which can help us to develop the four language skills and at the same time to teach students how to use the new technologies
Orthographic Correction in the English Subject
In Spanish, there’s seems to be a correlation between sounds and spelling, in English this is not the case. As we know the English spelling system presents a lack of concordance between the actual spelling and the way words are pronounced. This irregular spelling is one drawback our students have to face when using the orthographic code. Spanish has a phonological system on the contrary English is a phonetic language, with 26 letters but 36 phonemes. In this article, we are looking at the orthographic code how to correct possible mistakes in our students
Practical examples of the use of ICT in CLIL subjects
Además, el contenido será más aclarado y aprendido a través del uso de las TIC.One of the objectives when teaching a language is to work with ITCs in class. The concrete situation is that the teacher does not use ITCs in class so much. The children usually use cardboards and other materials to elaborate their class works or projects. Therefore, is good idea to show them to use some applications related to ICTs. Also, the contents will be more clarified and learnt through the use of ICTs
Multiple Intelligences in Second Language Learning
Different methods to access a second language have been used. Among them we find the theory of multiple intelligences of Gardner that takes more and more force within the educational community. For that reason it is necessary to analyze and apply it in the classroom in order to see all its possibilities. In this article, these intelligences are analyzed from a point of view focused on language learning in schools
Enskog kinetic theory of binary granular suspensions: heat flux and stability analysis of the homogeneous steady state
The Enskog kinetic theory of multicomponent granular suspensions employed
previously [G\'omez Gonz\'alez, Khalil, and Garz\'o, Phys. Rev. E \textbf{101},
012904 (2020)] is considered further to determine the four transport
coefficients associated with the heat flux. These transport coefficients are
obtained by solving the Enskog equation by means of the application of the
Chapman--Enskog method around the local version of the homogeneous state.
Explicit forms of the heat flux transport coefficients are provided in
steady-state conditions by considering the so-called second Sonine
approximation to the distribution function of each species. Their quantitative
variation on the control parameters of the mixture (masses and diameters,
coefficients of restitution, concentration, volume fraction, and the background
temperature) is demonstrated and the results show that in general the
dependence of the heat flux transport coefficients on inelasticity is clearly
different from that found in the absence of the gas phase (\emph{dry} granular
mixtures). As an application of the general results, the stability of the
homogeneous steady state is analyzed by solving the linearized Navier--Stokes
hydrodynamic equations. The linear stability analysis (which holds for
wavelengths long compared with the mean free path) shows that the transversal
and longitudinal modes are always stable with respect to long-enough wavelength
excitations. This conclusion agrees with previous results derived for
monocomponent and (dilute) bidisperse granular suspensions but contrasts with
the instabilities found in previous works in dry (no gas phase) granular
mixtures.Comment: 20 pages; 6 figure
