The application of geochemical methods in earthquake prediction in China

    Get PDF
Several geochemical anomalies were observed before the Haichen, Longling, Tangshan, and Songpan earthquakes and their strong aftershocks. They included changes in groundwater radon levels; chemical composition of the groundwater (concentration of Ca^(++), Mg^(++), Cl^−, SO_4= and HCO_3− ions); conductivity; and dissolved gases such as H_2, CO_2, etc. In addition, anomalous changes in water color and quality were observed before these large earthquakes. Before some events gases escaped from the surface, and there were reports of "ground odors" being smelled by local residents. The large amount of radon data can be grouped into long‐term and short‐term anomalies. The long‐term anomalies have a radon emission build up time of from a few months to more than a year. The short‐term anomalies have durations from a few hours or less to a few months

A device-level characterization approach to quantify the impacts of different random variation sources in FinFET technology

    Get PDF
A simple device-level characterization approach to quantitatively evaluate the impacts of different random variation sources in FinFETs is proposed. The impacts of random dopant fluctuation are negligible for FinFETs with lightly doped channel, leaving metal gate granularity and line-edge roughness as the two major random variation sources. The variations of Vth induced by these two major categories are theoretically decomposed based on the distinction in physical mechanisms and their influences on different electrical characteristics. The effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed through both TCAD simulations and experimental results. This letter can provide helpful guidelines for variation-aware technology development

Non-Abelian vortices in the emergent U(2) gauge theory of the Hubbard model

By the spin-fermion formula, the Hubbard model on the honeycomb lattice is represented by a U(2) gauge theory in the mean field method, non-Abelian vortex solutions are constructed based on this theory. The quantization condition shows that the magnetic flux quanta are half-integer. There are 2k2k bosonic zero modes for kk winding vortices. For the fermions, there are 2 zero energy states (ZESs) corresponding to the single elementary vortex. In the vortex core and on the edge, the system are in the semi-metal phase with a spin gap and in the insulator phase with N\'eel order phase, and can be mapped to the superconductor in class A and CI, respectively.Comment: 4pages, 2table

Introduction Of A Smart Diet Manager In IoT

    Get PDF
Excessive consumption leads to 7 trends of crises, including destruction of the atmosphere, energy crisis, social decline and conflicts. Over consumption also deteriorates human health. To reduce excessive consumption not only can improve health, it can also reduce transportation from consumption, livestock raise and sale, and medical care. The reducing over consumption can benefit human health and environmental protection through supply chain management. This motivates us to devise an innovative product. Our imaginative innovative product is a new smart diet manager (DM). After a survey to potential users, it reveals that the new features can help reduce the excessive consumption and deterioration of the human health as well as the destruction of environment. Enterprises can also achieve their social responsibilities through the implementation and popularization of the DM as soon as possible

The article is devoted to improving the control and algorithm for Autonomous moving systems. The function of the controller is to provide communication between the control computer and the actuator. The ATmega2560 microcontroller is selected as the main processor. The electrical diagram of additional devices of the microcontroller is formed. Printed circuit boards consisting of separate blocks are made on the basis of the electrical circuit. To exchange information with external systems and process the received data, a special algorithm for the microcontroller has been created. The microcontroller is programmed based on this algorithm. The analysis of the functioning of the management system is performed, conclusions and recommendations are given
