NEW RECORDS OF TWO RARELY ENCOUNTERED, ENDEMIC RATS (RODENTIA: MURIDAE: MURINAE) FROM GUNUNG GANDANGDEWATA, WEST SULAWESI PROVINCE
We collected specimens of Sommer’s Sulawesi shrew-rat, Sommeromys macrorhinos, at three sites (1600, 2200, and 2600 m) and the Sulawesi small-bodied shrew-rat, Crunomys celebensis, at one site (1600 m) on Gunung Gandangdewata in the western block of the central core of Sulawesi during November 2011 and May 2012. Prior to 2011, S. macrorhinos was known only from the holotype, which was taken on 2 August 1973 at 2400 m near the summit of Gunung Tokala (upper montane forest). Previously, C. celebensis was known only from tropical lowland evergreen rain forest in the Danau Lindu valley and nearby upper drainage of the Sungai Miu in the northern portion of the westcentral mountain block in Sulawesi’s central core. The new specimens of S. macrorhinos and C. celebensis extend their known range of habitats to include the transition between lowland and montane forest. Because the original description of S. macrorhinos was based on a single specimen, we describe some external morphological features and provide measurements of new specimens as a supplement to the original description.Key words: Crunomys celebensis, morphology, shrew-rat, Sommeromys macrorhino
Traumatic vs. atraumatic 22 G needle for therapeutic and diagnostic lumbar puncture in the hematologic patient: a prospective clinical trial
We investigated the impact of needle type on post lumbar puncture headache (PLPH) in hematologic patients undergoing LP. We prospectively compared traumatic (TN) vs. atraumatic 22G needles. Twenty-seven patients underwent 48 LPs, 22 with chemotherapy injection. PLPH occurred almost exclusively with TN (4% vs. 30% p=0.02), irrespective of chemotherapy injection

An Antibody-Drug Conjugate Targeting GPR56 Demonstrates Efficacy in Preclinical Models of Colorectal Cancer
BACKGROUND: Long-term prognosis remains poor for colorectal cancer (CRC) patients with advanced disease due to treatment resistance. The identification of novel targets is essential for the development of new therapeutic approaches. GPR56, an adhesion GPCR, is highly expressed in CRC tumours and correlates with poor survival. Here, we describe the generation and preclinical evaluation of a novel ADC consisting of an anti-GPR56 antibody (10C7) conjugated with the DNA-damaging payload duocarmycin.
METHODS: RNA-seq dataset analysis was performed to determine GPR56 expression in CRC subtypes. The specificity of binding, epitope mapping, and internalisation of 10C7 was examined. 10C7 was conjugated to payload and ADC cytotoxicity was assessed against a panel of CRC cell lines and tumour organoids. Antitumour efficacy was evaluated in xenograft models of CRC cell lines and patient-derived tumours.
RESULTS: High GPR56 was shown to be associated with the microsatellite stable (MSS) subtype that accounts for 80-85% of CRC. GPR56 ADC selectively induced cytotoxicity in CRC cells and tumour organoids at low nanomolar potency in a GPR56-dependent manner and showed significant antitumour efficacy against GPR56-expressing xenograft models.
CONCLUSIONS: This study provides the rationale for the future development of a GPR56-targeted ADC approach to potentially treat a large fraction of MSS CRC patients
Epitaxial growth of (001)-oriented Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3 thin films on a-plane sapphire with an MgO/ZnO bridge layer
High quality (001)-oriented Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3 (BST) thin films have been grown on a-plane sapphire(112¯0) by rf magnetron sputtering using a double bridge layer consisting of (0001)-oriented ZnO (50 nm) and (001)-oriented MgO (10 nm) prepared by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy. X-ray diffraction revealed the formation of three sets of in-plane BST domains, offset from one another by 30°, which is consistent with the in-plane symmetry of the MgO layer observed by in situ reflective high electron energy diffraction. The in-plane epitaxial relationship of BST, MgO, and ZnO has been determined to be BST [110]//MgO [110]//ZnO [112¯0] and BST [110]/MgO [110]//ZnO [11¯00]. Capacitance-voltage measurements performed on BST coplanar interdigitated capacitor structures revealed a high dielectric tunability of up to 84% at 1 MHz
