A Typology Of Online Window Shopping Consumers

    Get PDF
Consumer online shopping behaviors are well attended in the IS and marketing literature. Yet, there is another group of individuals who spend a lot of time online but do not purchase anything. This online window shopping phenomenon is intriguing to both scholars and marketers yet it is less studied and little understood. Questions such as what the online window shopping consumers do during their visits, how to differentiate their activities and how to design marketing strategies to stimulate them to buy are all essential and beg for investigation. To address this gap, we propose a typology of online window shopping consumers based on the Consumer Information Processing Model, then empirically validate and refine the typology using a set of clickstream data. The final typology contains four main types of online window shopper consumers: 1) promotion finders, 2) social & hedonic experience seekers, 3) information gatherers, and 4) learners & novices. This study extends consumer online behavior research in both e-commerce and social commerce by focusing on the specific group of consumers who only do online window shopping. Besides theoretical contributions, the findings also provide marketers and businesses with valuable references for designing targeted marketing strategies or promotional activities for online window shopping consumers

    Size-dependent spin-reorientation transition in Nd2Fe14B nanoparticles

Nd2Fe14B magnetic nanoparticles have been successfully produced using a surfactant-assisted ball milling technique. The nanoparticles with different size about 6, 20 and 300 nm were obtained by a size-selection process. Spin-reorientation transition temperature of the NdFeB nanoparticles was then determined by measuring the temperature dependence of DC and AC magnetic susceptibility. It was found that the spin-reorientation transition temperature (Tsr) of the nanoparticles is strongly size dependent, i.e., Tsr of the 300 nm particles is lower than that of raw materials and a significant decrease was observed in the 20 nm particles

Thermal conductivity of deformed carbon nanotubes

We investigate the thermal conductivity of four types of deformed carbon nanotubes by using the nonequilibrium molecular dynamics method. It is reported that various deformations have different influence on the thermal properties of carbon nanotubes. For the bending carbon nanotubes, the thermal conductivity is independent on the bending angle. However, the thermal conductivity increases lightly with XY-distortion and decreases rapidly with Z-distortion. The thermal conductivity does not change with the screw ratio before the breaking of carbon nanotubes but decreases sharply after the critical screw ratio.Comment: 6figure

On the Interpretation of Caribbean Paleo-Temperature Reconstructions During the Younger Dryas

A conundrum exists regarding whether the sea-surface temperatures decreased or increased over the southern Caribbean and the western Tropical Atlantic region during the Younger Dryas when the North Atlantic cooled substantially and the Atlantic thermohaline circulation was weakened significantly. Despite the proximity of core locations, some proxy reconstructions record a surface cooling, while others indicate a warming. We suggest that this seemingly paradoxical finding may, at least partially, be attributed to the competing physical processes that result in opposing signs of temperature change in the region in response to weakened North Atlantic meridional overturning circulation. Our coupled ocean-atmosphere model experiments indicate that the temperature response over the southern Caribbean and Western Tropical Atlantic regions is complex and can vary considerably in small spatial scales, depending on the nature of physical processes that dominate

Does the Comprehensive Commercial Logging Ban Policy in All Natural Forests Affect Farmers' Income?-An Empirical Study Based on County-Level Data in China

[EN] The Comprehensive Commercial Logging Ban Policy in all natural forests (CCLBP) as the strictest forest conservation measure brings uncertainty to the income of farmers engaged in forest land management. Therefore, clarifying the impact and heterogeneity of the CCLBP on farmers' income has become a significant issue of current concern. Based on county-level panel data from China covering the period 2000-2020, this study uses Regression Discontinuity Design (RDD) to identify the impact of the CCLBP on farmers' income. The empirical results show that (1) the CCLBP has a significantly positive effect on farmers' income, with the policy leading to an increase in farmers' income of approximately RMB 411-582; (2) the impact of the CCLBP on farmers' income exhibits regional heterogeneity, with significant positive effects observed in Hebei, Shandong, Hubei, and Shaanxi, significant negative effects observed in Guangxi, and insignificant effects observed in other provinces; and (3) the CCLBP not only promotes the development of non-agricultural industries and labor mobility but also effectively reduces capital outflow, thereby increasing farmers' income. This study contributes to the understanding of the underlying mechanisms between the CCLBP and farmers' income, and it has significant practical implications for promoting the increase in farmers' income, narrowing the income gap among farmers, and achieving common prosperity. It can also provide valuable insights and guidance for global forest protection. This research was supported by Soft Science Research Program of Zhejiang Province, funding number 2022C35011; Zhejiang Postdoctoral Research Merit-based Funding Projects, funding number ZJ2022040; and Major Humanities and Social Sciences Research Projects in Zhejiang higher education institutions, funding number 2023QN023.Zhang, M.; Yan, R.; Ye, P.; Dong, J.; Zhang, N.; He, X.; Zhao, R. AbstractMODIS sensor has a high temporal resolution, spectral resolution, and moderate spatial resolution. The data products are widely used in Large-scale and long period dynamic monitoring of drought. This paper focuses on characters of farming rice dominated in Jiangxi province, and analysis on remote sensing monitoring model and drought monitoring indicators which selection the MODIS data products and drought information related from 2000-2008. Established standard for classification of drought in Jiangxi province, and verified instances of 2003 drought in Jiangxi. This study may have a certain significance to agricultural drought monitoring based on rice planting in southern China, because the correspondencematch between the selected TD indices and cloud cover with precipitation and daily maximum temperature evolution curve

Near-threshold photoproduction of J/ψJ/\psi in two-gluon exchange model

The near-threshold photoproduction of J/ψJ/\psi is regarded as one golden process to unveil the nucleon mass structure, pentaquark state involving the charm quarks, and the poorly constrained gluon distribution of the nucleon at large xx (>0.1>0.1). In this paper, we present an analysis of the current experimental data under a two-gluon exchange model, which shows a good consistency. Using a parameterized function form with three free parameters, we have determined the nucleonic gluon distribution at the J/ψJ/\psi mass scale. Moreover, we predict the differential cross section of the electroproduction of J/ψJ/\psi as a function of the invariant mass of the final hadrons WW, at EicC, as a practical application of the model and the obtained gluon distribution. According to our estimation, thousands of J/ψJ/\psi events can be detected per year on EicC near the threshold. Therefore, the relevant experimental measurements are suggested to be carried out on EicC.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figure
