    Managing a supply-chain based two-sided market

This paper develops a theoretical model of positive monopolist who organizes a two-sided market in the IP license industry. This model indicates, as a platform owner, they faced a new phenomenon that developers’ side acts as a supply chain of firms instead of single firm. They have to deal with network effect between developers and customers, but also within the supply chain. We have developed models by adopting license fee and royalty fee to facilitate such network effects among supply chain and customers in the platform ecosystem. This article specifically enriches the two-sided platform by introducing supply-chain based side. Some practical implications also provide for platform owners who want to set up their platform ecosystem by licensing their IPs. This result could also be able to explain why Intel adopted a close supply chain in the PC industry while ARM adopted an open platform model in the mobile industry as a positive monopolist

    Triangle singularity in the J/ψ→γpˉΔJ/\psi \to \gamma \bar{p} \Delta decay

In this work, we study the role of triangle singularity in the J/ψ→γpˉΔJ/\psi \to \gamma \bar{p} \Delta decay. We find that through a triangle mechanism, involving a triangle loop composed by ω\omega, π\pi and pp, this decay may develop a triangle singularity and produce a visible peak in the invariant mass MγΔM_{\gamma\Delta} around 1.73 GeV with a width of 0.02 GeV. Such a triangle mechanism may also cause significant spin effects on the final Δ\Delta, which can be detected by measuring its spin density matrix elements. Our calculations show that the branching ratios due to the triangle mechanism is Br(J/ψ→γpˉΔ,Δ→πpJ/\psi\to \gamma \bar p\Delta,\Delta\to \pi p)=1.058×10−61.058\times 10^{-6}. Hopefully, this reaction can be investigated at BESIII and future experiments, e.g. Super Tau-Charm Facility, and the narrow width of the induced structure, the moving TS position and the distinct features of the spin density matrix elements of the Δ\Delta may serve as signals for the triangle singularity mechanism.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure

Chinese MNE Acquisition of Unrelated Foreign Businesses: The Role of Diversified Business Group Affiliation, Private Ownership and Strategic Asset Seeking

    Get PDF
While the acquisition by Chinese firms of unrelated foreign businesses has become quite common, it is a highly risky undertaking not fully explained by international business scholars. Using resource-based and institutional theory, we hypothesize that affiliation with a domestically diversified business group confers pre- and post-acquisition advantages and legitimacy, fostering unrelated foreign acquisitions. In addition, we argue that private ownership as well as a motive to seek strategic assets amplify this tendency among Chinese firms affiliated to diversified groups. Ordered logit modelling for 662 Chinese cross-border M&As over a 10-year period provides support for our hypotheses. Our findings shed new light on: the distinctive characteristics of Chinese MNEs; broader conceptual arguments regarding the strategy of emerging market MNEs; the apparent paradox of why Chinese MNEs have used international acquisitions to diversify at a time when many Western diversified conglomerates are divesting non-core businesses

Flight Software Implementation and Verification on IRIS CubeSat

Flight software (FSW) is essential in the operation of a satellite program. It is important to verify the functionality and performance of the FSW on ground before being deployed in space. We discusses the implementation and verification of the FSW of the Intelligent Remote-Sensing and Internet Satellite (IRIS) CubeSats

Route choice behavior of freeway travelers under realtime traffic information provision–application of the best route and the habitual route choice mechanisms

    Get PDF
The route choice behaviour on freeways between Taipei and Taichung in Taiwan under real-time traffic information provision is investigated. Two types of route choice mechanisms (the best-route and habitual-route) are analysed using ordered probit models to identify the major influences on freeway travellers’ route choice behaviour. The level of service associated with each route is defined as a generalized cost saving and specified non-linearly with a spline-like threshold inherent to travellers. The marginal (dis)utility thresholds in the ‘best’ and ‘habitual’ behaviour models are identified through a grid search assessed on overall goodness of fit. The findings from this study provide a better understanding of the effects of Advanced Traveller Information Systems on drivers’ route choice behaviour, and a useful reference when planning for the provision of realtime information for drivers
