    An empirical application of stochastic volatility models

    This paper studies the empirical performance of stochastic volatility models for twenty years of weekly exchange rate data for four major currencies. We concentrate on the effects of the distribution of the exchange rate innovations for both parameter estimates and for estimates of the latent volatility series. The density of the log of squared exchange rate innovations is modelled as a flexible mixture of normals. We use three different estimation techniques: quasi-maximum likelihood, simulated EM, and a Bayesian procedure. The estimated models are applied for pricing currency options. The major findings of the paper are that: (1) explicitly incorporating fat-tailed innovations increases the estimates of the persistence of volatility dynamics; (2) the estimation error of the volatility time series is very large; (3) this in turn causes standard errors on calculated option prices to be so large that these prices are rarely significantly different from a model with constant volatility

    The objective of this research is finding the comparison on the raw material stock in Borneo Company by using Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) as the method. The data analysis that been used in this research is Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), the analysis determine the schedule to re-order point and deciding quantity that should be ordered by the company. According to the research’s results which had been conducted in Borneo, The author summarize that Borneo incapable to optimize the calculation toward the raw materials purchased, which the total purchased in Borneo was higher compared to the utilization of the raw materials.     This research was conducted on consumers of PT. Mutiara Timor Star Kupang. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of promotional strategies and market segmentation partially and simultaneously on purchasing decisions for Honda motorbikes. This research used a qualitative descriptive method approach. The sample data collection used a simple random sampling method. Samples involved in this study were 100 respondents taken from distributed questionnaires, interviews as well as observations to consumers of PT. Mutiara Timor Star Kupang as the primary data source, and reports on Honda motorcycle sales data obtained as secondary data sources. The data analysis technique used in this research was descriptive statistical analysis test, multiple linear regression test, T test, F test, and determination coefficient test using the SPSS version 21 software program. The results of this study indicated that in the paartial approach, the promotional strategy variable did not influence the purchasing decision, while market segmentation variables influenced the purchasing decision. In simultaneous approach, however, the promotional strategy and market segmentation variables influenced the purchasing decisions for Honda motorbikes at PT. Mutiara Timor Star Kupang.     PENGARUH WORD OF MOUTH TERHADAP KEPUTUSAN PEMBELIAN SMARTPHONE SAMSUNG

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari Word Of Mouth keputusan pembelian Smartphone Samsung di Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Nusa Cendana. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survey yaitu penelitian yang mengumpulkan informasi dari responden menggunakan kuesioner. Populasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan mahasiswa pengguna smartphone Samsung di Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis, Universitas Nusa Cendana. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan proporsional random sampling sebanyak 96 responden. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan untuk menjawab hipotesis dalam penelitian ini adalah regresi linier sederhana.Hasil penelitian dengan tarif signifikan 5% menunjukkan bahwa Word Of Mouth berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian konsumen, hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan  nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000<0,05. Dari perhitungan koefisien determinasi didapatkan hasil bahwa R square bernilai 0,458 yang berarti Word Of Mouth mempengaruhi keputusan pembelian sebesar 45,80% sedangkan sisanya sebesar 54,20% dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan transformasional terhadap kinerja karyawan supermarket Dutalia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei dengan pendekatan kuantitatif asosiatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Dutalia Supermarket dengan jumlah sampel 35 orang dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling, dan untuk pengumpulan data di lapangan menggunakan kuesioner. Teknik analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Analisis Regresi Linier Sederhana. Metode uji yang digunakan adalah uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensial. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa secara parsial variabel gaya kepemimpinan transformasional berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan di Dutalia Supermarket.     This research executed in U-Pro Chapter Kupang, Full Gospel Businessmen’s FellowshipInternational (FGBMFI) Kupang with the total sample of 36 people. The result of the studysuggested that (1) Work Spitituality and Motivation in U-Pro Chapter Kupang are in acriterion of very high and very high. (2) Work Spirituality has positive influencesignificantly to Work Motivation at U-Pro Chapter Kupang. This could be seen in formula ofSimple Regression : Y = 14,30 + 0,906X. The the result proved that Work Spirituality had apositive impact significantly on Work Motivation by 0.67 or 67 %, the rest 33 % influenced byother factors.Keywords : Work Spirituality, Work Motivatio

    THE INFLUENCE OF SERVICE QUALITY TO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IN PDAM KUPANG’S SERVICE COUNTERS

    Service Quality is very important factor especially for enterprises that engaged in the services sector.Therefore, PDAM Kupang prioritizes the service quality for the sake of customers satisfaction, bytrying to improve the quality of service which is expected to be a positive effect towards customersatisfaction. The purpose of this research is to explain the influence of the counters service quality tocustomer satisfaction in PDAM Kupang’s service counters. The result of the regression, the ServiceQuality influence positively towards Customer Satisfaction (β = 0,231). The variable of ServiceQuality has contribution of 53.4% to Customer Satisfaction variable (R2 = 0.534) and the restinfluenced by other variables. Based on a comparison between the value of tcount and ttable (n-2) at the95% level of confidence, it can be drawn the conclusion that the variable of Service Quality influencesignificantly to variable of Customer Satisfaction.
