A vaccine made of irradiated larvae to eradicate Dictyocaulus viviparus causing bovine verminous bronchitis was discussed. This theoretical assay states the main disadvantages of the vaccine, among them its short life span and the possibility of being a cause for the disease due to still active larvae. Recent studies on the parasite are presented which, together with genetic engineering and biotechnology last findings, could result in a recombinant vaccined bases on this nematode excretion-secretion products.

In order to determine which of the causes that lead to the emergence of anthelmintic resistance, are present in our bovine exploitation units, an exhaustive observation was made of the application and management form with anthelmintics in different units in the province of Camagüey , assessing the influence of technical personnel on the factors: dose adjustment due to an erroneous estimation of the live weight of the animals, contamination of the drug due to the use of non-sterile needles and accessories and re-packaging of the drug. This result was issued in percentage form. 100 Veterinary Doctors and Technicians who applied this treatment were surveyed. The data obtained were processed in the SPSS program (version 10.0), where a cross-contingency table analysis was performed between the categories (Medical and Technical) and the knowledge of the dose and susceptibility of the different parasitic taxonomic groups to the anthelmintics of most used in our country: Levamisole, Ivermectin, Albendazole and Niclosamide, with the aim of determining if these technical groups have the knowledge evaluated. The decision is made through the Chi-square Test, confirming that there is inadequate use of antiparasitic drugs.

Macromarketing Pedagogy:Empowering Students to Achieve a Sustainable World

    Get PDF
The United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are challenging the world to work towards a more sustainable future. Its 17 goals are ambitious, requiring concerted and system-based efforts driven by critical and socially aware thinking. However, marketing education is largely falling short of teaching students to think that way. Given macromarketing's unique perspective on the interactions among markets, marketing, and society, macromarketers are poised to contribute to marketing pedagogy and to commit students to realizing the SDGs. This article first looks back at the previous 40 years of macromarketing pedagogy, before offering contemporary approaches to teaching macromarketing through four illustrative case studies found in an online repository called Pedagogy Place. It then looks forward, setting an aspiring vision for macro-oriented classrooms in the coming years

Federal tax deductibility for local taxes and its effect on local revenue policies

    No full text
This dissertation analyzes whether and how changes in federal tax policy affect local tax policies, specifically, the elimination of the federal deductibility of state and local taxes for individual taxpayers by the Tax Reform Act of 1986 (TRA86) in 59 California cities. Two methods are used in the study: a survey of local revenue officials and a time event time-series/cross sectional sales tax reliance study. The reliance study uses a covariance model to pool cross-section and time-series observations. The results of the reliance study indicate a statistically significant overall decline in sales tax reliance after 1986. The results of the survey indicate that local policy makers generally do not believe that federal deductibility is an important factor when considering raising local sales taxes. Further analysis shows that local revenue officials claiming federal deductibility is not an important factor are associated mostly with cities that registered no significant decline in sales tax reliance after 1986. Similarly, local revenue officials claiming federal deductibility is an important factor when considering local tax policy are associated mostly with cities that suffered a significant decline in sales tax reliance after 1986. Of that group, further analysis shows that the declines in sales tax reliance are associated mostly with cities located in the southwestern part of the state. When compared to other cities in the state, an analysis of variance reveals that there are a series of statistically significant factors associated with southwestern cities which may contribute to the decline in sales tax reliance following the enactment of the Tax Reform Act of 1986
