To study the cardiovascular changes in children with Marfan syndrome the hospital records of 27 children with this syndrome admitted to our institution between 1975 and 1984 were reviewed. Echocardiographic examinationwas done in all of them. Heart catheterization and angiocardiography were performed in 7 children. 15 children were without cardiovascular involvement (mean age 7.9 years). Twelve children with cardiovascular abnormalities (mean age 12.3 years) were significantly older than children without cardiovascular disease (P<0.02). The most frequrnt cardiovascular abnormality (9 children) was mitral valve diseas (mitral regurgitation, mitral valve prolapse with and without regurgitation). In one patient artificial mitral valve was inserted. Aortic root aneurysm was found in 7 children, in some of them in combination with mitral valve disease. Fusiform aneurysm of thoracic aorta together with aortic root aneurysm was present in one child. In 2 patients tetralogy of Fallot was diagnosed. This review shows that the cardiovascular system is more frequently affected in older children and that about half of the children suffer from cardiovascular disease. Mitral valve involvement predominates. Surgery for the correction of the cardiovascular abnormalities in children with Marfan syndrome is seldom required

Complications of cardiac catheterization and angiocardiography were reviewed retrospectively in 1074 neonates, infants, and children studied from 1st January 1981 to 31st December 1985. Overall complication rate was 5.2% (56 complications in 54 children). There were 3 cases of complications was 3.8% and was higher in infants younger than 4 months (P0.05). The study showed that higher catheterization risk of major complications could be predicted from the age, clinical status, and heart defect of the patient

Psyche and History in Shelley and Freud

The comfortable thought is over in our psychical relation to Percy Shelley and Sigmund Freud because the line of reasoning it invokes is chaotic, if only because trying to define psyche and history leads to chaotic conclusions, especially at the beginning of the twenty-first century. Shelley and Freud recognized this and were able to channel it into their art, myth, fable, allegory. The events of their lives, their History, produces itself from chaos (Freud writes across two World Wars, Shelley under the shadow of the French Revolution, Jacobin massacres and Napoleonic wars), which means its producer is chaotic, Divine Chaos, Miltonic Chaos, but chaos it still remains. There is no systematic order to their thought except that systematic order escapes all Thought, true thought, at least. Please bear this in mind when you read the confused pages that follow, which seek to tether chaos to coherence. Above all, this is an attempt to separate the wheat from chaff in Shelley and in Freud. Percy Shelley\u27s psychological poetry speaks a language less heard than read; the opposite holds true for Sigmund Freud\u27s psychoanalytic theory. I argue that in order to hear Shelley and read Freud, it is necessary to first discover and then impose a grammatical architecture already present in their writings. Such mental scaffoldings occupy what Shelley calls Love, Freud, Eros. Each conceptual term demonstrates within and without its boundaries the same radical rebellion of thought: the sum of duty enjoined and buttressed by the artist\u27s mind must always ruin the imaginary landscape, across and from which the mind imagines

This article presents the integration of elderly people in modern communication. At birth, we can talk about aging, as yet an invisible field, which is later on, is shown in many mental, physical and social changes. Today, the number of elderly people increases with extensive speed, so elderly people need to be taken positively with more attention deserved - by that both sides are being prepared for their age. To continue to enjoy the success and quality of life, we must bring to their lives as bigger variety of information as possible - communication technology, which is an influential factor of our lifestyle. The purpose of this article was to determine if the integration of elderly people in modern communication is satisfactory, and how elderly are adapting modern communication. This article is based on a review of relevant literature and sources in English and Slovenian. After analyzing the relevant literature, an analysis of collected data about integration of elderly into modern communication has been made. Today a big factor for non-usage of modern communication among elderly is based on their not-knowledge and ignorance of using the modern communication technologies, that is why it is important that with the help of various institutions, courses and lectures of the usage of information-communication technologies, are being organized. A product that is meant to be used by elderly, needs to be adjusted in that way, that the usage of it is easy and customizable for elderly.

Two cases of successful dilatation of recoarctation of the aorta due to a subclavien turndown operation are reported. In both cases Grüntzig technique was used. The first patient, aged 10 months, had the gradient rediced from 40 mm Hg to 10 mm Hg. The second, aged 1 year, had the gradient reduced from 80 mm Hg to 30 mm Hg. In the second patient right femoral pulse disapeared after procedure and surgery (thrombarteriectomy) was performed
