The Cattle Industry Compensation Fund was established under the Cattle Industry Compensation Act 1965. An Advisory Committee, established by the Hon. Minister for Primary Industry makes recommendations for funding on a project basis. The Advisory Committee published progress reports in 1984 and 1989. This report covers the period 1990 to 1995

TAC Panel on Fisheries Research

Report of the TAC Panel on Fisheries Research, part of the process of considering ICLARM for CGIAR support. The panel found that it had sufficient information without an additional visit to the center, and answered a series of questions posed by the TAC Chair to all seven comparable panels created as part of the TAC assessment of non associated centers. TAC Panel on Forestry Research: Report

Report of the TAC Panel on Forestry Research, part of the process of considering how CGIAR should implement its decision to add forestry to its mandate. It was one of seven such panels created as part of the TAC assessment of non associated centers for support from the CGIAR. The panel used as a starting point for its discussions five documents prepared by a predecessor group with many of the same members, the ad hoc TAC Forestry Panel. Four of these, excluding one interim document, may be found in other records. The Panel on Forestry Research also considered a paper on institutional options for agroforestry, prepared by an ad hoc TAC Agroforestry Panel, which is found in another record.The panel combined what it considered the best from the institutional options offered it for forestry and agroforestry, and suggested that the bulk of CGIAR supported forestry and agroforestry research should be conducted at the regional or country level. It proposed a central focal point for forestry research, and noted that this role could possibly be played by ICRAF with a revised mandate.Agenda document, TAC 51

Report of the TAC Panel on Vegetable Research

Report of the TAC Panel on Vegetable Research, part of the process of considering adding a CGIAR program of vegetable research. The panel addressed in particular the eligibility of the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center (AVRDC) for support from the CGIAR. The panel relied on an external review of AVRDC by a panel commissioned by TAC, conducted earlier in 1990.The panel recommended that AVRDC be restructured to conform to the norms for CGIAR centers, and be financed by the Group. If that was not possible, the panel suggested returning to an amended version of the 1988 proposal for an International Service for Vegetable Research located in Southeast Asia.Agenda document, TAC 52

TAC Panel on Banana and Plantain Research: Report

Report of the TAC Panel on Banana and Plantain Research, part of the process of considering CGIAR support for research on bananas and plantains. It was one of seven such panels created as part of the TAC assessment of non associated centers for support from the CGIAR. The panel found that it had sufficient information. International and Regional Organizations and Networks Involved in Tropical Forestry Research: A Stock Taking

Report prepared by an ad hoc panel on tropical forestry to provide TAC with a survey of the forestry-related work of IARCs, other international research centers, and regional networks of national programs. The panel was particularly concerned with how this work related to the five priority areas identified at the Bellagio II Forestry Meeting held at Wiston House in London in November 1988.
