The paper presents the results of numerical simulation of flows in the case of multicyclone, in two models of the location of the cyclone elements. The aim of this work is the possibility of optimizing the location of entrances palowitch nozzles cyclone elements in the battery cyclone the first and second models. They also allow for a more accurate account of the hydraulic resistance of the device when determining the most effective location of cyclonic elements

    Adjuvante Therapie des Kolonkarzinoms

Adjuvant Therapy in Colon Cancer The goal of improving adjuvant treatment can be reached in two ways: firstly, by developing more effective drugs and protocols and, secondly, by selecting suitable patients on the basis of clinical and molecular factors. In UICC (Union internationale contre le cancer) stage II, microsatellite instability (MSI) is a strong prognostic factor. Whether it can also be used as a predictive marker is currently a matter of controversy because the available data are contradictory. The question whether or not the MSI status should be checked before treatment decisions are made in stage II patients can therefore not be clearly answered at present. For adjuvant treatment in stage III, with capecitabine/oxaliplatin (XELOX) there is now a new protocol available that is based on the orally administered prodrug capecitabine. With regard to the question of how much older patients in this stage may also benefit from a combination chemotherapy, new - and contradictory - data have emerged recently: firstly, preliminary results of two new studies have given rise to safety concerns and, secondly, an analysis by the `ACCENT Collaborative Group' indicated lower efficacy of the `newer' adjuvant protocols in older people. These findings, however, have now been called into question as a result of a new subgroup analysis from the XELOXA study. The expert group therefore recommended that the decision whether to treat patients older than 70 years with an ( oral) fluoropyrimidine alone or in combination with oxaliplatin should be based on clinical parameters such as biological age and comorbidities

The object of the study is a geoinformation system designed to display technological objects and information about the state of the technological process on a geographic map. The main goal of the system is to improve the efficiency of monitoring the geographically distributed and mobile objects. In this work, we consider issues arising in the design and implementation of projects for the creation of geoinformation systems designed to visualize information about the state of the technological process and to monitor the geographically distributed and mobile process facilities. Particular attention is paid to the definition of architectural style, design and implementation of the architectural solution of the system

    Sofia Observatory Performance and Characterization

The Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) has recently concluded a set of engineering flights for Observatory performance evaluation. These in-flight opportunities have been viewed as a first comprehensive assessment of the Observatory's performance and will be used to address the development activity that is planned for 2012, as well as to identify additional Observatory upgrades. A series of 8 SOFIA Characterization And Integration (SCAI) flights have been conducted from June to December 2011. The HIPO science instrument in conjunction with the DSI Super Fast Diagnostic Camera (SFDC) have been used to evaluate pointing stability, including the image motion due to rigid-body and flexible-body telescope modes as well as possible aero-optical image motion. We report on recent improvements in pointing stability by using an Active Mass Damper system installed on Telescope Assembly. Measurements and characterization of the shear layer and cavity seeing, as well as image quality evaluation as a function of wavelength have been performed using the HIPO+FLITECAM Science Instrument configuration (FLIPO). A number of additional tests and measurements have targeted basic Observatory capabilities and requirements including, but not limited to, pointing accuracy, chopper evaluation and imager sensitivity. SCAI activities included in-flight partial Science Instrument commissioning prior to the use of the instruments as measuring engines. This paper reports on the data collected during the SCAI flights and presents current SOFIA Observatory performance and characterization

Deep brain stimulation electrodes may rotate after implantation—an animal study

    No full text
Directional deep brain stimulation (dDBS) electrodes allow to steer the electrical field in a specific direction. When implanted with torque, they may rotate for a certain time after implantation. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether and to which degree leads rotate in the first 24 h after implantation using a sheep brain model. dDBS electrodes were implanted in 14 sheep heads and 3D rotational fluoroscopy (3D-RF) scans were acquired to visualize the orientation of the electrode leads. Electrode leads were clockwise rotated just above the burr holes (180° n = 6, 360° n = 6, 2 controls) and 3D-RF scans were again acquired after 3, 6, 13, 17, and 24 h, respectively. One hundred eighty degree rotated electrodes showed an initial rotation of 83.5° (range: 35.4°-128.3°) and a rotation of 114.0° (range: 57°-162°) after 24 h. With 360° torsion, mean initial rotation was 201° (range: 3.3°-321.4°) and mean rotation after 24 h 215.7° (range 31.9°-334.7°), respectively. Direct postoperative imaging may not be accurate for determining the rotation of dDBS electrodes if torque is present
