Grade 7th students of the school AE Carlos Amarante in Braga have worked this school year with LegoTM EV3 robotics kits provided by the Hands-on Science Network, exploring its different capabilities. BILINGUISMO DOS SURDOS: LIBRAS E PORTUGUÊS L2 (ESCRITO) NO CONTEXTO EDUCACIONAL

This work discusses the bilingualism of the deaf people in the educational context, considering the relationship between Libras (L1) and (written) Portuguese as L2. Adopting the Universal Grammar hypothesis (Chomsky, [1995]/1999), we investigate the interference of L1 in the interlanguage stages, specifically in the acquisition of the pronominal system and the types of verbs, particularly the spatial verbs. The divergent properties in relation to the target language are analyzed as the transfer of L1 properties and the effect of the modality difference between the languages. We conclude that the identification of these properties makes it possible to base the pedagogical work on scientific principles and results.Este trabajo analiza el bilingüismo de los sordos y su manifestación en el contexto educativo, considerando la relación entre Libras (L1) y portugués (escrito) como L2. Adoptando la hipótesis de la Gramática Universal (Chomsky, [1995] 1999), investigamos la interferencia de L1 en las etapas de interlengua, específicamente en la adquisición del sistema pronominal y de los tipos de verbos, particularmente los verbos espaciales. Las propiedades divergentes en relación con el idioma de destino se analizan como la transferencia de propriedades de L1 y el efecto de la diferencia de modalidad entre los idiomas. Concluimos que la identificación de estas propiedades permite basar el trabajo pedagógico en principios y resultados científicos.Este artigo discorre sobre o bilinguismo dos surdos no contexto educacional, considerando a relação entre a Libras (L1) e o português (escrito) como L2. O presente estudo examina construções em que a preposição COM introduz um argumento realizado com o papel temático de Instrumento. Verifica-se que os predicados relevantes admitem mapeamento sintático em que o argumento interpretado como instrumento ocorre em diferentes funções sintáticas: ora como sujeito ou argumento oblíquo (no caso dos causativos e dos psicológicos), ora como complemento direto ou indireto (no caso dos locativos). Comparing Kidney Care during the Pandemic in Hospitalized Non-COVID-19 Patients

INTRODUCTION: Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) has caused a direct increase in mortality but not all of it is entirely attributable to COVID-19, meaning there was a higher rate of mortality in non-COVID-19 patients due to the pandemic. The aim of this study was to compare two groups of patients: group 1, which included all of the patients admitted to the Internal Medicine ward during the month of April in the year 2019 and group 2, composed of all of the patients admitted to the same ward in April 2020 (a non-COVID ward) and to identify factors which were closely related with worse renal function in two group of patients. METHODS: Retrospective observational study carried out through the analysis of digital data of all non-COVID-19 patients admitted at an Internal Medicine ward in April 2019 (group 1) and April 2020 (group 2). RESULTS: A total of 162 patients were included. Group 1 represented 63.6% of the patients and group 2 represented 36.4%. Although there was a significant difference (p<0.001) between baseline creatinine and that presented at admission for hospitalization in both groups, the difference was markedly greater in the second group when compared to the first group. The worsening of renal function, measured by the CKD-EPI formula, was associated with higher mortality, which was higher in the 2020 group. CONCLUSION: There was a sense of fear imposed by the pandemic, which delayed resorting to medical care. This increased the severity of medical conditions. In the post-pandemic aftermath, it is essential that General and Family Medicine coordinate effectively with different medical specialties to jointly improve the follow-up of our patients
