Even though pharmacological industries have produced a number of new antibiotics in the last three decades, resistance to these drugs by microorganisms has increased. In general, bacteria have the genetic ability to transmit and acquire resistance to drugs, which are utilized as therapeutic agents . so the present study is to know that the effiency of the herbal extacts on microbical activity(Pouteria Sapota , ,Solanum lycopersicum ,Musa Acuminata, and betavulgaris. Estimation of Antimicrobial activity and antifungal activity on Ecoil, bacillus, salmonella, candida and aspergillus by using Soyabean casein digests agar media,Sabouraud dextrose agar media by the technique cupplate method.in which all the extracts have antibacterial activity where as absent in antifungal activity . Fuel Cells: Development and Management Issues Within the Automotive Industry

    No full text
For nearly a decade, the automotive industry has been working on fuel cell power train technology. General Motors Corp. alone is spending more than $100 million a year to be able to mass produce hydrogen powered fuel cell vehicles by 2010 [1]. But despite the efforts, the technology is still fraught with obstacles and unknowns. Engineers and scientists must find a way to produce hydrogen cleanly and from sources that won\u27t be depleted. Before they can be practical in automobiles, fuel cells must come down in cost, mostly by reducing the amount of precious metals used in the fuel cell stack. The lack of a manufacturing and post consumer infrastructure is also a major obstacle in the race to develop fuel cell powered vehicles

Background: Immunization is an important component of maintaining health and wellness in patients with chronic kidney disease. The aim of the study is to describe the awareness about the vaccination in patients with chronic kidney disease on haemodialysis and to estimate the vaccination status received in these patients on dialysis. Methods: It is a cross sectional study conducted in 83 patients diagnosed to have chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis for at least 1 month. Demographic characteristics and comorbidity data (as self-reported) were collected and questionnaire assessment was filled about the vaccination and counselling received. Results:  The prevalence of CKD were 73.5% in males and 26.5% in females with a mean age of 48.9 years. Among the different occupations of the patient with no job/housewife was 56.6% while professional jobs were 18.1% business and non-professional source were 13.3% and agriculture related was 12.0%. Evaluation of education stated that patients educated with higher schooling had 15.6% of prevalence of CKD compared to degree holders and Masters. The different comorbidities among the studied patients were Hypertension- 84.3%, Diabetes- 47%, Stroke- 12%, Connective tissue disorder- 18.1% and COPD- 44.6%

Malignant syphilis in an immunocompetent adult male

The occurrence of malignant syphilis in an immunocompetent individual is rare. We present malignant syphilis in a 35-year-old immunocompetent male who presented with a 1-month history of noduloulcerative lesions on the torso. Examination revealed multiple pustules, nodules, and deep-seated ulcers distributed on the trunk, face, and upper and lower limbs. Characteristic morphology of lesions, positive serological tests for syphilis, characteristic histopathology, and resolution of lesions following institution of penicillin therapy confirmed the clinical diagnosis of malignant syphilis

Integrating hydro and wind resources for effective congestion management in a hybrid electricity market

Abstract Congestion management in deregulated electricity systems threatens system security and reliability. Integration of renewable energy sources, unpredictable wind power, load demand, and the requirement for quickly deployable reserves make congestion management more difficult. While deciding the dispatch of the generating units, many factors have to be considered for the economic, secure, and reliable operation of the power system. This study presents a congestion management strategy that has been developed specifically for hybrid power systems. Within a pool and bilateral power supply market structure, it introduces a generator rescheduling-based congestion management technique. Ensuring safe bilateral transactions between these companies is crucial. Renewable sources affect congestion management dynamics, according to the research. The optimization issue includes operational limitations for scenarios with and without renewable source units. Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) was used to sample hourly wind speed from the Weibull PDF wind model. GAMS CONOPT solver used the model. General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS)-MATLAB interface imported the model into MATLAB to extract the response. The best combination of renewable sources is 2 hydro + 1 wind unit as savings of congestion cost are 1403.6/hand1403.6/h and 1855.18/h in case 1 (3-line congestion) and case 2 (2-line congestion), respectively. Results were accomplished by updating the IEEE-24 bus reliability test system with hydro and wind generators

Deep-Learning-Based Visualization and Volumetric Analysis of Fluid Regions in Optical Coherence Tomography Scans

Retinal volume computation is one of the critical steps in grading pathologies and evaluating the response to a treatment. We propose a deep-learning-based visualization tool to calculate the fluid volume in retinal optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. The pathologies under consideration are Intraretinal Fluid (IRF), Subretinal Fluid (SRF), and Pigmented Epithelial Detachment (PED). We develop a binary classification model for each of these pathologies using the Inception-ResNet-v2 and the small Inception-ResNet-v2 models. For visualization, we use several standard Class Activation Mapping (CAM) techniques, namely Grad-CAM, Grad-CAM++, Score-CAM, Ablation-CAM, and Self-Matching CAM, to visualize the pathology-specific regions in the image and develop a novel Ensemble-CAM visualization technique for robust visualization of OCT images. In addition, we demonstrate a Graphical User Interface that takes the visualization heat maps as the input and calculates the fluid volume in the OCT C-scans. The volume is computed using both the region-growing algorithm and selective thresholding technique and compared with the ground-truth volume based on expert annotation. We compare the results obtained using the standard Inception-ResNet-v2 model with a small Inception-ResNet-v2 model, which has half the number of trainable parameters compared with the original model. This study shows the relevance and usefulness of deep-learning-based visualization techniques for reliable volumetric analysis
