    Effect of series resistance and interface state density on electrical characteristics of Au/SiO2/n-GaN Schottky diodes

    metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) Schottky diodes and compared with (Au/n-GaN)metal-semiconductor (MS) Schottky diode. The effect of SiO2 on the surface preparation of n-GaN (MIS) Schottky diode is analyzed. The extracted Schottky barrier height and ideality factor of the MS Schottky diode is found to be 0.79 eV and 1.45 respectively. It is observed that the Schottky barrier height increases to 0.86 eV and ideality factor decreases to 1.3 for MIS diode. The interface state density as determined by Terman’s method is found to be 3.79 × 1012 and 3.41 × 1010 cm - 2 eV - 1 for the MS and MIS Schottky diodes, respectively. In addition, the values of series resistance (Rs) are determined using Cheung’s method. The I - V characteristics confirmed that the distribution of Nss, Rs and interfacial layer are important parameters that influence the electrical characteristics of MIS Schottky diodes.     ASSESSMENT OF ANTI-OBESITY ACTIVITY OF TECTONA GRANDIS LEAVES ON BUTTER INDUCED HYPERLIPIDEMIA IN MICE

    Introduction: Obesity is one of the world’s leading problems, which is major cause of cardiovascular diseases. During COVID-19 pandemic many young children and all age group people are getting challenged by obesity due stagnant life style. To treat such life-threatening disorder natural remedies acquire prior position, plant produces a good deal of secondary metabolites which have a benefited mankind in various ways, including treatment of diseases. The present research work was focused on developing a natural remedy using Tectona grandis, an ancient plant with number of proven activities in traditional medicine. Methods: In the literature survey, it was found that flavonoids, sterols, tannins, and alkaloids shown promising effects to tackle obesity by various mechanisms, T. grandis has shown the presence of saponins, alkaloids, flavonoids, proteins, and amino acids. With the above evidence, this plant has been selected for screening of its antiobesity activity against high-fat diet induced obesity in mice. Studies were conducted using aqueous extract of T. grandis leaves (AETG) on high-fat diet (butter) induced model of hyperlipidemia in mice. During 21 days’ time period AETI low and high doses were induced to respective animal groups along with butter where atorvastatin has been taken as standard drug. Butter enhanced the cholesterol and triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels. Results and Discussion: At the end of 21 days, blood samples were collected from the animal through retroperitoneal route. Biochemical parameters of AETG have been compared with that of standard drug group of animals. The test results were almost similar and for some particular parameters such as LDL and very low-density lipoprotein, AETG shown good results than standard drug results. Conclusion: In congruence with these results, it may be confirmed that due to the presence of phytoconstituents such as saponins, flavonoids, proteins, terpenoids, amino acids, and alkaloids in the aqueous extract of T. grandis, it could be responsible for the observed significant anti-obesity activity

    DETECTION OF DUPLICATION IN CLOUD

    As the cloud computing technology develops during the last decade, outsourcing data to cloud service for storage becomes an attractive trend, which benefits in sparing efforts on heavy data maintenance and management. Nevertheless, since the outsourced cloud storage is not fully trustworthy, it raises security concerns on how to realize data deduplication in cloud while achieving integrity auditing. In this work, we study the problem of integrity auditing and secure deduplication on cloud data. Specifically, aiming at achieving both data integrity and deduplication in cloud, we propose two secure systems, namely SecCloud and SecCloud+. SecCloud introduces an auditing entity with a maintenance of a MapReduce cloud, which helps clients generate data tags before uploading as well as audit the integrity of data having been stored in cloud. Compared with previous work, the computation by user in SecCloud is greatly reduced during the file uploading and auditing phases. SecCloud+ is designed motivated by the fact that customers always want to encrypt their data before uploading, and enables integrity auditing and secure deduplication on encrypted data

    Researches in heat transfer have been carried out over the previous several decades, leading to the development of the currently used heat transfer enhancement techniques. Louver fins are widely used in heat exchanger for automotive applications such as radiator, intercooler, condenser, heater core etc. This study presents numerical analysis of effect of various louver fin configurations on heat transfer rate. The three dimensional governing equations for fluid flow and heat transfer are solved using ANSYS Fluent 19.2., fin geometries are developed by using CATIA v5.     Rhino-Orbital-Cerebral Mucormycosis: Clinico-Epidemiologic Study in a Regional Centre in Eastern India during the Second Wave of COVID-19 Pandemic

    Introduction Rhino-orbital -cerebral mucormycosis (ROCM), a life-threatening acute fungal rhinosinusitis, has recently been reported in increasing numbers in post-COVID patients in the backdrop of uncontrolled hyperglycemia. We present our on-going experience with these patients. Materials and Methods A descriptive longitudinal study involving forty-three ROCM patients, during the 2nd wave of COVID -19, are presented here to discuss the epidemiology, clinical features, management approaches and outcomes. Results Commoner in males (65%), most ROCM patients belonged to lower socio-economic status and 41-50 years age group. Eighty six percent patients were known diabetics and confirmed COVID-19 illness were present in and 53% patients. Advanced disease (Stage-3&4) was found in 54% of patients at presentation. Diagnosis was confirmed by fungal culture and histopathological evidence of tissue invasion.   All patients received injection Amphotericin B and undergone surgical debridement (endoscopic or external approach). Seventy two percent patients were discharged on oral antifungal post -debridement, 28% patients expired during course of treatment. Conclusion ROCM led to significant morbidity and mortality in post COVID patients due to its aggressive nature, late presentation and limited guidelines on management protocol. Early diagnosis in patients presented with suggestive background and a multidisciplinary team management approach is crucial.  Randomized control trials on efficacy of various treatment modalities with duration of antifungal treatment will help in better management of these patients

    Prediction of outcomes in acute exacerbation of COPD with DECAF score and BAP 65 score in a rural population

    Background: Prognostic research in exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) requiring hospitalization has been limited and there appears to be little common ground between predictors of mortality in stable disease and during AECOPD. Furthermore, none of the prognostic tools developed in stable disease have been tested on hospitalised patients, and most require clinical measurements not routinely available at hospital admission. This study intends to test dyspnoea, eosinopenia, consolidation, acidemia, and atrial fibrillation (DECAF) and biological assessment profile (BAP) 65 Scores on Indian patients in a tertiary care set up and validate the same to be used as a routine and effective score in predicting the outcome in AECOPD.  Methods: Hospital based prospective observational study was carried out in 100 patients with AECOPD who was present to general medicine. DECAF and BAP-65 Scores were calculated. Data was analyzed using SPSS 22 version software.Results: In our study both DECAF score and BAP‑65 score performed equally well for prediction of need for Mechanical Ventilation. The AUROC for need for Mechanical Ventilation was 0.77 (95% CI=0.67–0.84) for DECAF score and 0.77 (95% CI=0.67–0.85) for BAP‑65 score. The AUROC for prediction of mortality for DECAF score was 0.83 (95% confidence interval [CI]=0.74–0.89) and for BAP‑65 score was 0.79 (95% CI=0.69–0.86).Conclusions: DECAF and BAP-65 are good and also equal in predicting mortality as well as need for mechanical ventilation. Both scores can be easily applicable in AECOPD patients, so that death during hospitalization for AECOPD and need for mechanical ventilation can be minimized.
